It is getting better, strat ops weaponized the alpha clones with cheap destroyers for people who want to directly join "nullsec wars". Some of them even contributed kills of multiple ships that is worth more than the entire alpha clone fleet ships combined.

People are going to stay, but I guess if you liked industry or mining, tough luck since most of them are locked away. Hauling, exploration is still profitable competitively with omegas.

I used to tell people to make multiple free trails and try each race and see what they liked. You can do the same thing now. I'm so out of date because I just got back but in the past Caldari was always known for being good with mission running or ratting pve. Thing is, every race has good hulls somewhere in the ship tree and none of them have good hulls everywhere. Just try em out and go with what you like.

Probably not like ancient aliens but I'd bet they were the first group of humans to get back into space after the dark ages following the EVE gate collapse. Jovian space is on the map but you can't get there, devs fuck around in it. I think that some new ships and modules they release are supposedly jovian tech. The gnosis may be one example of this.

Gankers I simply can't tell ya, having just only come back. Jita will have them for sure. Base out of matari or deep gallente space and they may not be as much of an issue as around Jita and Amarr.

It's relatively simple and straightforward concept:
There needs to be more to standard combat than utility management, distance and transversal. - Buffs and debuffs are the wrong approach.

Right now, what eve is doing correct in combat is in the strategic-level approach. It can definitely use improvement, (I would consider the current state to be in its infancy and actually not very good right now) but it's there. Fleets using tactical jump points, gatecamps, system blockades, and so on.

But look what happens once the strategic approach transfers into the tactical level: Massive blobs of ships. The fights turn into slugfests, the meta of the day is calling the right targets for alpha-strikes and making flight/fight decisions. It's not enough to keep combat interesting. In fact it's all downright fucking boring and nobody really wants to do it. You're lucky to get 2-3 kills per hour in Eve.

And what do you do at the tactical level when someone with the perfect fit against your ship jumps you?
You can't do anything. The fight was essentially decided at the ship fitting screen.
This all needs to change.

Is caldari cruiser worth grabbing as alpha? I don't know if getting destroyer from 0 to 3 is a big investment or not.

Assuming you're an alpha clone and don't have access to a cloak, here's some tips for surviving wormhole trips. The first thing you want to do when entering a wormhole, always, is bookmark the entrance so you can easily warp back and out. Next, pick a planet or moon from the right click menu and warp to/near it (I usually do 100k away just in case someone's there). While you're in warp on the way to it make a bookmark in empty space and, once you arrive to the planet/moon, warp to the bookmark you made. This will put you in a deadspace "safe spot" where the only way to get to you is to scan you down with combat probes. From there you can use D-scan to check for combat probes. If you see them on D-scan that likely means someone is hunting you down, so gtfo. If D-scan is clear you can scan down signatures with impunity. You're most vulnerable while doing sites so keep an eye on your overview for campers uncloaking and others scanning down you or the site.

I'm a new alpha who's always wanted to play space trucker. I joked about eve being a spreadsheet simulator. A pot of coffee at four in the morning and it's no longer a joke.

With Gallente alpha's get access to specialized haulers with comparatively huge cargo bays compared to the general purpose industrials. Ore and minerals are few enough in number it's not terrible to just check a trade website and go from there. The planetary materials have 82 possible trade goods that can fit in your inventory. I made a auto-updating spreadsheet on what you can trade for a profit from one region to another, for any other alphas or subscribed space truckers who want to play space trucker I give this to you.

The API I found and used is shit, and wish it had more functions with routes and ability to the universe instead of only one region at a time. It tends to say "3000% return" because a region only has 1 unit of water for 1 isk instead of 30. so it needs double checking but can easily narrow from 84 objects to check on the market to ~5-10 on a good route.

Some people, like rita, tip very generously on their contracts, especially if you're fast. You'll know who these people are because their contracts will get snapped up in the span of 5 seconds when they post them.

Ask questions about collateral and shit. Although the hauler channel doesn't usually have this problem, some contracts are faked by pirates interested in ganking you when you try to fulfill it, and those guys can tell you what to look for.
