To upgrade from RXtools to luma follow the gif. The 3ds and luma folder have been combined into one folder called hax on the latest version do not seperate them just put the hax folder in the root. Do everything else and you now have luma.

Ok, I can't get a straight answer from anybody on this.

I have a 3DS that is console banned AND NNID ban due to error 002-0102.

People are saying that the ban MIGHT be temporary, but if not I'd need a new account and device.

Now the question: Some are saying it's possible to install cfw on a 3ds, no matter its firmware, as long as I have another 3ds that does have cfw installed, even if it's banned.

It depends on program.
3DSX/Smea's homebrew is userspace. This means limited access to console's resources and whatnot. You can do some things, but others not at all. Some emulators even run worse from 3DSX than .CIA.

But say: JKSM and say CHMM2 do the exactly same things in .CIA or 3DSX format, it just is more of an hassle to use a 3DSX when you can just install a .cia to your home menu with CFW.

The limits for 3dsx meet where arm9 or arm11 kernel access is needed. And arm11 could be attained by homebrew up to 10.7 - as downgrading was possible through an system attack to gain arm11 kernel priveleges. (there is more solid safeguards against this in arm9 process that is not compromised since 9.2 which is why DSiware FIRM downgrade is first needed)

I did just that and it just crashes to homescreen. The boot seems to be the problem. If i use it i cant access homebrew channel and even if i do luma says it has no payload. I used reboot until now for rxtools and it does seem to have an option for luma3ds but that crashes to homescreen as well

I was following the plailect guide just fine until I reached the Decrypt9(Homebrew Launcher) part.
It asked me to enter homebrew launcher, and by doing so you have to hold the down dpad button while booting. And then it only boots me on the regular 3ds menu. I have booting many times already but still cannot boot to Homebrew Launcher. What is this problem? How do I enter Homebrew Launcher now?

Okay I need some input here from someone who might be more knowledgeable than me:

From my understanding of what I read on 3dsbrew the LocalFriendCodeSeed_B is basically just 16byte of real data(with 8 byte actually being zeroes most of the time) and a 2048-RSA signature. This signature I assume is from nintendo directly and therefore cannot be forged.

Doesn't this mean that it is impossible to ever generate a new LocalFriendCodeSeed_B, unless someone manages to retrieve nintendos private key? And at that point nintendo would be in much bigger trouble anyway.

Thus I conclude that the only way to get a unban without retrieving someone elses LocalFriendCodeSeed_B would be by bypassing the RSA-check altogether. (If that is even possible).

Since system transfer just moves the LocalFriendCodeSeed_B and it ends up the same on both machines, doesn't that also mean that if a system transfered console gets banned the source gets banned, too?
