The Majin race as an idea is cool, it's just executed terribly. They weren't good at anything in XV1 aside from being fapfuel and in XV2 their unique transformation sucks and their racials are weird.

If DIMPS put the effort into giving them more shapeshifting type moves, or a not awful transformation, they'd be worth more than just being bubblesluts.

Freezers and Saiyans are planet-conquering aliens, Namekians made the dragon balls, Humans are humans so you can do anything with them, and majins aren't even in the manga/anime as a species. There's only Mr. Buu who memes around and pisses off people.

In fact of all the CaC backstories posted here I see majin players with the fewest, because there's just very little to work with.

Maybe nothing as expansive as the other races, but I like the fact they don't have much history. And what history they do have is pretty bad.
Must feel pretty bad knowing you originated from one of the most evil and chaotic beings in the known universe. There SHOULD be a stigma against Majin because they're so damned different and shouldn't exist, but not even the games acknowledge this.
A Majin character should be great for exploring isolation and feeling different from everyone, and just trying to fit in. But nope, post sluts, etc.

Sadly even in DBO, his background consists of one or two sentences. Kind of sucks how there's little info on them. The fact that a lone majin can inspire an entire race to take up a warrior culture is kind of cool though.

It's Dragonball, man. You can have wacky gumball superheros and pro wrestlers and people who got sucked into being timecops for fun and stuff like that.

Cola doesn't have any kind of serious backstory, but I still like thinking up stuff for her. She's a superhero, rescuing cats from trees and entertaining children, trying to live up to the example of THE CHAMP. She's kinda sleepy-mannered (as another anon suggested, permanent sugar low from too much soda), but well-meaning.

Good intentions don't always work out though. Like wanting to help Trunks when helping should not be a thing that should happen.

I avoid making too different or grand backstories for my characters. Tends to make them towards a Mary Sue level. Plus I think the real mark of a good character is when you take something simple and turn it into something people find incredibly engaging and root for.
Which isn't too far off many Dragonball characters when you think about it.
As for seriousness, well, no, not every character has to have some dark story. But I do like them having some sort of conflict that troubles them, just so they have something at stake, something to fight for, etc.

Reminds me of when I first started playing XV1 and it was the Saibaman story mission, where they just keep coming and you've got to wait for Goku.
Well, being new at the time, I wasn't particularly good so the mission kinda kicked my ass. I loved the challenge though. Made the whole thing feel real tense and gave me a really good reason to want Goku to hurry the fuck up. Made me feel like a real part of the game and universe.
