I call it a meme because it's not as good as people act it is. Critical builds are usually much better damage-wise. What LSM is, if your weapon is at yellow sharpness or lower, it will reduce your damage by 70% if you hit at the start of an attack animation, and by 30% if you hit at the end of an attack animation.

Has anyone else noticed this "phantom hit" junk in Gen? There has been at least 8 times i've been able to gauge for using a GS or Hammer with a strong attack usually guaranteed to knock a monster around, where on my screen the attack completely whiffs yet thanks to the miracles of lag and hosts, apparently connects and sends the monster reeling, for example smacking the fire out of glavenus' mouth and toppling it.
I'll get no hit effect, no blood spatter, no hit-stop, yet i'll be the only one who was near enough to hit the monster at that exact point and suddenly the fucker just falls over or gets knocked out.

I even had a pubbie compliment me last night for a setup i did with adept GS against a glav, hitting a bomb, dodging it then getting a level 3 strong charge right on its face mid-attack- i mean thats what the game registered and all according to keikaku, but i literally whiffed on my screen.

I played about 500 hours of 4U and never noticed this weird lag that gen seems to have.

Whatever you're doing on their screen is what the monster will be reacting to in terms of taking the hit/damage, and status effects.
You whiffing on your screen can be a hit on their screen, you whiffing on their screen but hitting on yours will do no damage to the monster.

Up until Generations, the host of the Monster would be the one who entered the area with the monster in it first. In Generations this seems to have changed, I'm not sure what factors go into play there, but I don't like the change.
