It's not like you can avoid all the exploits anyways

God of the Forge exploit, cutting exploit, selling exploit, production overflow exploit
>>

I dont really know any of those. Feel free to enlighten me. Are they actually exploits or just oversights?

is the Leviathan dlc worth it?
>>
>>160449750

>God of the Forge exploit : Every player in the game gets God of the Forge and the shared bonus is additive per every player in the game (example : 6 players mean the bonus is 90 % extra production towards military for everyone)
>Cutting Exploit : You can cut for full outside of your borders, cutting yield is pretty significant on both trees and bonus resources, synergizes beautifully with the three other exploits due to selling used Builders outside borders and exploiting production overflow
>Selling Exploit : You can sell outside your borders for full, selling yield is 50 % of purchase cost which is huge, free units and boosted production (for example, 100 % production bonus Horseman + double from Scythia) sells for full. Wounded units and used Builders sell for full. Can be used to get extra money from nothing, or run a unit selling based economy. Venetian Arsenal + Destroyer/Cruiser Armadas, or Cavalry/Helicopter spam breaks the late game
>Production Overflow Exploit : Production from a boosted construction (Example : 100 % production towards Cav) is scaled. So for example, a 10 production city actually produces 20 per turn towards Cav. If this overflows, then the overflow production can be used to get abnormal amounts of hammers. Furthermore, due to the way the overflow is re-applied on the next project, you can boost the overflow again and rapidly get exponential returns, which go faster the bigger the boost is and the smaller the margin to 1 turning the unit gets. This allows you to one turn wonders and districts, sometimes multiple in a row, by getting obscene production pools which multiply faster and faster (Think 200 production becomes 400, then 800, then 1600. The more patient you are, the more crazy it becomes)
>>
>>160450581
>cheating
>>
>>160450581
Nvidia will fix it
>>
>>160450835

>Cheating

All four of those are purely based on game mechanics as they exist in the current game

Cutting and selling are both usually banned in MPs, God of the Forge requires a mod. Production Overflow is unfixable until Firaxis hotpatches it

Production Overflow alone lets you meme MP lobbies utterly because you can quickly build up an unstoppable production pool of thousands, or ten of thousands hammers, and suddenly pull wonders, districts and dozens of city projects out of your ass
>>
>>160450581
The cutting and selling ones arent even exploits. Its intended.
>>
>>160451110

If those are intended, then they are awful game mechanics. To me it's more of a pretty blatant oversight

In Civ V, you couldn't sell outside of your borders. Cutting outside your borders also gave rapidly diminishing yields
>>
>>160451029
It's all exploits that breaks the game. If you willingly use it, you're cheating.
>>
>>160451224

Well, good luck enforcing that rule in lobbies

It's literally impossible to trace the Production Overflow exploit until the production steamroll is obvious enough to ruin the game, cutting and selling exploits are not very obvious, and God of the Forge can happen by accident from the AI picking it
>>
>>160451374
No it's very obvious. If you stack production multipliers and manage to hoard tons of production in overflow, you're cheating. Send workers everywhere deforesting the entire continent even within AI civ's border, it's cheating. That scout is about to die next turn so you sell it to recoup some of the gold? Cheating. Only thing that's out of your control is God of Forge.
>>
>>160451725
There is literally no proof that they didnt intend for it. No, "It wasnt that way in V" isnt an excuse. Lots of things changed.
>>
>>160446587
I'm more mad that every era from classical to atomic seems like its missing a column of techs
>>
>>160451215
Chopping shit in V was generally really underwhelming. I liked how in IV you could do something with it earlygame, be it chopping down forests to get barracks and some strong early UU's (preatorians and dog soldiers come to mind) or grab wonders, even midgame. This was not nearly as effective in V.

Sure, right now chopping in VI is idiotic but it shouldn't get nerfed into the ground. The core concept is fun.

>>
>>160453850

>>
>>160453069
>>160451725
This honestly sounds like one of those guys who plays with Filthy. They ban tons of aspects of the game and then have the nerve to make a tier list based on their silly setup that doesnt reflect the game. Like yeah sure Norway is terrible if you say "Now remember you're not allowed to play on anything except Pangaea maps and you cant do this or this or this and this is banned and these addons change these."

Its gonna be difficult to discuss Civ VI here when steam workshop mods come out because everyone is going to be arguing balance based on their highly specific setup of mods that change the game, and everyone is going to argue which are 'mandatory.' I can see it already.

Realistically speaking, an ordinary fleet ought to be able to glass planets. Full orbital bombardment ought to be more brutal.
>>
>>160462808
Space 4x wishlist.
>Each planet is subdivided into tiles like Stellaris
>However each tile has it's own Biome.
>Creatures that like cold can settle near the poles, water breathing creatures can settle in the oceans, ect.
>Some planets are tide locked, with a habitable band around the horizon belt.
>Millitary units move around on the planetary map.
>It's possible to play the game as a pre-spaceflight civ, in which case the game looks like a really tiny version of Civilization.
>Teraforming happens tile by tile, however some effects such as atmosphiric composition are global.
>An attacking fleet can glass individual map tiles until the planet is uninhabitable.
>Nuking the polar ice caps to make the atmosphere thicker is also a viable early game teraforming strategy
>>
>>160463773
That's neat, but wouldn't micro management become a nightmare after some point?
>>
Is Civ VI worth getting yet or should I wait for some expansions + Steam sale like I did with Civ 5
>>
>>160464504
I imagine it would be at least partly automated. Planets would build their own upgrades based on need, but the player can intervene to prevent or mandate specific production.
>>
>>160464813
It seems that at some point it all turns into pointless details. You can probably get the same level of comprehensible simulation by giving several parameters per planet instead of tiles and certain actions that would affect those parameters.
>>

>>160463773
That is nice anon.
I will add few kopenek more.
>each tile can be populated by more than one population unit
>population can have different classes&castes aka nobles/freemen/serfs for monarchies or workers/soldiers/priests for caste systems or illegals/citizen for republics
>what matter is not sheer population size(although anyone can work fields or mine ore) but having specialist pop like techs/engineers/scientist who can operate specialized production//science buildings an need to be educated(kinda like in old SM Colonization)
>planets are governed based on their local systems aka democracy have their governors elected, monarchies either that fiefs system with their hereditary rulers or appointed governors
>resources are consumed/used locally and then stored and transported at need by freighters with space elevator/orbital stations being bottlenecks for planetary gravity wells
>possibility to make custom laws for planet and specific populations
Sadly you need working AI and working highly customizable automation kinda like in distant world but better. And plenty of way to get feedback and info like EU ledgers. Plus some Viki.
>>
>>160465107
I agree with that other anon. This scale of detail would not work in a space 4x. You would reach a point where trying to manage all your colonies would become a hindrance
>>
>>160465107
Unnnnf.

Yes, definitely stackable pops, and tile improvements (cities, habitat domes, ect) that increase the amount of pops that you can fit on a tile.

Military units are also just specialized pops. Any pop can engage in combat, work a tile, or build improvements, with varying degrees of efficiency. Some civilizations might not distinguish between soldiers and citizens, while others could have a highly specialized caste system.
>>
>tfw no warhammer 4x
>>
>>160465820
That's what automation is for.

Also, it could be like CK2, where you might play as a planetary governor or fleet admiral who is part of a larger galactic empire.
>>
>>160466167
But if you're going to rely on automation wouldn't it be easier to represent all that with a set of parametes? It would also wouldn't be as resource expensive and the AI would have less room to fuck everything up.
Also, it would allow for greater depth without turning the management of multiple planets into a burocratic clusterfuck
>>
>>160466604
Because it's fun to be able to open the box and watch the little people walking around inside.

We need more games like the sims or Dwarf Fortress.
>>
I have +20 relations with a civ, and they still don't want to declare friendship. WTF.
>>
How do I into cultists? I can understand building in a 2 thick line but I'm unsure about tech priorities and the like.
>>
>>160466786
That would be like trying to combine the gameplays of sim city and stellaris. Unless you want to share control of your empire with an AI you would need to simplify one of the two elements.

One way to do it would be to only give you administrative control of your capital world and then have all your colonies be managed by governors, kind of like the sector system.

Endless legend is again nice looking and well done game. Just I don't like it.

What's the point of making units undeletable if they're damaged... if deleting them yields nothing anyway?

It feels like the game moves from one extreme to another.

Many of the systems in Civ V have been carried over to Civ VI. There's even a tutorial setting that will only chime in when there's a change in the systems from Civ V.

The latest patch fixes a bunch of issues, and it remains to be seen if it is a significant enough tweak to warrant getting the game now and not later.

Semantics is what typical libcucks resort to. It doesn't matter what it means, what matters is the people who call themselves liberals act like complete retards. So your remark about "Trump supporters" doesn't hold any weight and that's why you resorted to "above it all" tactics.
By your logic, Trump isn't a true white nazi KKK supremacist either, since he made GOP (who are white nazi KKK supremacists according to libcuck lore) completely buttdevastated during primaries.

I'm having a hard time figuring out why you'd want to attack a city state. It's actually pretty accurate, after WW1 many cavalry regiments and division traded in their horses for light tanks or other light armored vehicles, and after WW2 those that were left turned them in for helicopters or became ceremonial.

For example most remaining cavalry units in the US army are Stryker mounted, making them basically mech. infantry.
>>
>>160525156

may as well, there is no modern equivalent to cavalry as they were used in traditional warfare, tanks are the closest thing by way of "mobility"

I don't know why Rough Riders don't just replace Cavalry, or why even as a part of the Heavy Cavalry class they're completely disconnected from the upgrade tree making them an all out terrible and useless UU

The game could just limit how much the player is allowed to interact with different scale mechanics at different levels. If playing a planetary governor, then full interaction with planet. If playing sector commander/small empire, you have to appoint AI governors who all have different abilities. If playing super huge empire then you can only appoint sector governors. Also a supreme leader could have the possibility to intervene at some cost with tiny details and give orders which might be followed. That would feel so much more like leading a sprawling, endless empire.

That's correct. I bought a physical copy of civ6 because I had some shenanigans to get it for "Free", and it's just a super cheap plastic DVD case, the disc which I never even used, and a paper with the CD key and telling you you've got Monty and shit.

Civ5 was the same way. Last civ with an actual thicc manual was 4 and it was a pretty good one. Even liked the little writeup by Soren.

Kind of a bummer really. They almost are, but not really. It's how I feel about the research eureka thing to be honest, and almost there but a miss. When I heard about that I imagined getting bonus research points based on how much of something you were doing. Like mining a hill? +3 research points to iron making or something. Not just blanket fifty percent bonus when you did one thing.

What should i do now? I cant build more fleet to blizgierg spam them ( im in minus, but i will handle it before i run out of energy). >No gold for selling units
I don't think I'm updating, I'm too accustomed to the builder economy. More importantly, being able to translate production into gold into production was helpful for establishing new cities. It was another option instead of throwing all my traders there for a few turns.

I feel like this is just going to slow down the pace of the game.
>>
Removing the ability to sell units and denying the player the ability to modify terrain outside of their borders seems like an over-reaction.

Why not do something sensible, like adjust unit sell cost according to how many uses they have left, or how much health they have left if they haven't been attacked for several turns and are within your borders?

Or having production from chopping forests fall off after a certain amount of tiles away from the city center. It prevents players from wandering around the map to chop, but doesn't disallow them from doing something like clearing a path for war or trading units around.
>>
>>160566384
This
>>160566643
You're going to play the elves and like it.

In terms of builds, you want your Founder's Memorial and then the Mill Factory or whatever the first production building is called.

You want another settler army ready to settle down on turn 20, but first pick an empire plan. Pick this plan before settling because the cost scales with the number of cities.

There's no such thing as 'too much' provided the mechanics make sense, as long as we're being reasonable (complexity around the level of older paradox grand strategies is fine, aurora isn't). Probably will still be shit, but make a note on your calendars gentlemen. I'm at least going to give it a shot.

The ai is retarded enough of any difficulty that it's not really needed even on Deity. You want to try and maximize industrial zone placement for power plant spread if you're trying for a science victory simply for how insane the production required for it is, but otherwise it's not really necessary unless you enjoy being very efficient, although I haven't played since they buffed the AI last patch so maybe things have changed.

That said, the German layout there is really easy to do and quite beneficial so there's really no reason not to do it.

If i remember correctly, Hansa gets +1 from adjacent luxuries and +2 from adjacent Commercial hubs, at the cost of losing the +1 from adjacent mines that other industrial hubs have. They also get +.5 from adjacent districts like every other district (not counting commercial).
The luxuries is a nice bonus but the main draw is the commercial hub adjacency, using a setup like what i posted means every Hansa will have at least 4 production, when usually with Industrial districts you're lucky to get a +3 spot. It may not sound like a lot, but think of it as an easy 90 production (30 for Hansa and 60 for Commercial hub) cost +4 production building that can be doubled to +8 with policies (or even more if you build additional districts around it/place it by luxuries). Also, since Hansas don't cost a pop like every other unique district, and Germany's ability lets them build another free district regardless of pop, every city can build a Hansa+Commercial hub asap without worrying about population. This is also very good for spamming a lot of cities without having to worry about housing or food, which means you should be able to get a lot of cities in powerplant range of eachother, making your production even more insane.

Germany is THE production civ and considering how valuable production is in this game that's not a bad thing at all.

Anything that gives a bonus lead in the early game is always better because it lets them snowball. You could have a UU that is 3x stronger in the info era but that won't change shit if someone is already way ahead of you in tech or already won in some manner.

It's just their early game is so ridiculous it allows them to get off to such a start it doesn't even matter anymore. Yeah, good luck. You won't be able to even more to 3 civilizations before the cards become obsolete, let alone fight, let alone win.
If the first person you attack tried to defend themselves, you both just lost the game, because you wasted early game on units and zero expansion and development.
Sumeria is just an excellent mutually assured loss for you and the guy near you, and a terrible civilization for actually trying to win.
>>
>>160593305
I have and seen plenty of others on YT do rushes with Sumeria that easily rolled the capitals of 2-3 other civs if they're on Pangaea or continents and go on to win.
>>
>>160593305
The master of Civ VI (Filthyrobot) wouldnt put it in his tier 1 if it wasnt one of the best civs, and mostly because of war carts.

Thats because Filthy and his friend are the epitome of FOX ONLY, FINAL DESTINATION ONLY NO ITEMS. I played against him twice.
Both times I did an honor opening, which he considers trash.
Both times I attacked him and he lost his expansion after fierce fighting.
Both times he got mad and voted himself irrelevant and quit ("no quitters", LOL).
Both times I proceeded to be one of the contenders for the game, and won one of them.
And in both times he talked trash in the game how I only attacked him to ruin his day, I had no chance of winning, I am a scrub, he is never playing with me ever again, I am getting kicked from the steam group, etc.
>>

>>
>>160594505
Correction: if you attack Filthy at any point in any of his games, this is grounds for kicking.
>>
>>160594505
Why? It's part of the game to wage war, is it not? Kicking someone for this is retarded. I don't know if there is some kind of unwritten rule of civ MP-games, but to me this sounds ridiculous.
>>
>>160595074
When someone who "has no change to win the game" attacks someone who "has a chance to win the game", it is considered a dick move, because an irrelevant player is making a relevant player also irrelevant, by forcing them to spend production on military instead of economy and research.

Now, the problem is determining who is irrelevant and who isn't. And in Filthy's games, everyone who attacks him for any reason is an irrelevant sucker who can't lose like a man, so he drags him down as well.
He proceeds to post in chat how you are a scrub for thinking you can come back into the game by taking his land, you already lost, why are you also ensuring that I lose, just leave the game already and let me play SimCity instead of having me kill your chariots, etc.
>>
>>160595265

>>
Are there any good advantages of doing the "projects" in civ6? I'm not quite clear on what they do...
>>
>>160595494
They give money and great person points. You definitely should be doing some throughout the game.
Don't fall into the noob trap of building every building and district in every city.
There will be points when city X has nothing to build, other than stuff it doesn't currently and wont any time soon need, so get that city working on a project.
>>
>>160595494

This is an excellent way to invest with a city that is ahead of its building list, or can't build any more districts

Try to focus highly contested GP pools to steal them from your opponents
>>
>>160595552
How much money? What if I do the same project several times? Why not build every building in every city?
>>
>>160595694
You can do the same project unlimited amount of times, when racing for a science victory I have all my cities do the campus project, ensuring that I get technologies faster and ensuring I get the +production to space parts fro the great scientists in the later era.

I don't know how much gold it was, but it was a considerable chunk, enough to buy a unit if you do it in a few cities.
>>
>>160595694
because city specializations and maintenance

why would a city that is pretty much away from "borders" need an encampment for instance?
>>
>>160595265
The problem is that you dont/shouldnt get to decide who stands a chance to win. Otherwise the guy who is hosting can kick whoever he wants for threatening him regardless of success.
>>
>>160595694
Why build walls or encampment in safe cities?
Why build sewers or neighborhoods in a city thats 11/17 housing?
Why build entertaining districts if your cities are at positive amenities currently?
Why build culture districts if you already have a couple and aren't racing for tourism?
Why build harbors and ships in an inner sea you control or on a coast that you already have a good production center?
>>
>>160595884
Look, it goes like that with FilthyRobot:

>game starts and you look at your land
>its bad land and you won't win a passive game with it
>you make shitty expand and start building an army instead of more expands, putting yourself behind on pop and science
>you go for military techs, putting yourself behind on economy and culture
>you farm experience and generals from a nearby city state, putting everyone on alert
>FilthyRobot comments on how you are an all in scrub, you already lost (because you are behind on tech, culture, economy) and you are a noob
>you settle a city right next to him, pop two great generals and attack him with chariots and composite bows
>he talks trash in chat about noobs who go all in, about how the game is lost, about how you beating him will change nothing and you still lose
>he quits the game before being voted irrelevant by other players, thus violating the No Quitters rules
>you take his good land and proceed to challenge the leader and maybe win the game
>you find out you got kicked from the steam group and black listed

The other thing he will get you kicked over is if you tag team him - you see he is winning, and to stop him winning (so you can win) you ally with another player and you double penetrate him. He will insist that every one of you two is a scrub, because you are helping another person win with no hope of winning yourself (he will say this about both you and your co-conspirator, which makes no sense), that you ruined the game he would've won by being noob scrubs and you are both getting blacklisted.

Like another anon pointed out, its carebear shit. I know he is streaming and he wants to put on a good show, but he is also playing a competitive PvP game, he should expect people to attempt to win, even if he considers them underdogs.

If I get bad land in Civilization, you know for a damn fact I will try to all in invade the good land of my neighbor instead of sitting on my bad land and slowly lose due to RNG.
>>
>>160596317
>If I get bad land in Civilization, you know for a damn fact I will try to all in invade the good land of my neighbor instead of sitting on my bad land and slowly lose due to RNG.
I see nothing wrong with this.

This FilthyRobot, whoever he is, is just not as good as he likes to think he is, if another player's ambitions to win incurs his odium and anger.

Are the cultist robots? I mean the first cultists.
>>
>>160601365
Settle a city to use as a fortress there, and send a merchant to it.
I don't think there is any reason not to settle endless 2 pop cities, since they don't take away any amenities until they are pop 3, and they don't increase costs of anything.
>>
>>160601461
No, the cultists are people who worship the ""robots"".
And those robots are just an old civilization that decided to move their consciousness in machines, while their enemies moved theirs into some energy form. I think? I haven't played the sci-fi version much.
>>
>>160601365

Send a trade route to the city you plan to attack
>>
>>160601469
>>160601556

See how fucking stupid these solutions are when we should be able to build roads we want on our own?
>>
I'm a little confused by tourism and the cultural victory. In the victory condition screen, it says I have 88/146 tourists needed for the victory. How are these numbers calculated? I'm at a point where I can't expand anymore without war, and all of my art slots are filled. Will I keep generating more tourists, or do I have to settle/capture more cities to get more?
>>
>>160601461
The big fuckoff pillar in the middle of the cultist city is a computer/robot that previously served the Endless, but decided that they ain't cool anymore and now wants to kill them. How it managed to form a cult around that idea is a mystery.
>>
>>160601771
you can argue that having to build roads is stupid when its less effort to send a trade route
>>
>>160601794
your tourism affects those totals every turn so just wait, i believe.
more tourism would increase the rate of change.

I imagined Cultists as some tiny entities using "giant" magical mecha suits. It has been years since I did their quest but I thought narrator was not from assimilated tribes but low ranking "native".

Building roads is normal. Sending a trade route to a civilization you want to destroy is gymnastics.

Building a road to a civilization you want to destroy is gymnastics. You build a fort, and build a road to that fort.

It's true in the sense that the AI is at maximum intelligence at prince or king, I think prince. Everything beyond that point starts slapping on the cheats, and everything under that gets brain damage.
>>
>>160603535
Holy city that founded a religion will always have that religion ticking inside it. Other religions tick based on pressure from surrounding cities or something. Like many other things in this game it's not very well explained.
>>
>>160591556

Age of Wonders 3 is great. Just make sure you're playing with both DLC/expansions, and make sure you go into it expecting a war game. There's diplomacy and city management but the focus is on war even more than something like civ.

Based on who I've played so far, Aztec, Arabia, Spain.

Such is the price to pay for a competitive civ experience.
Harvesting is banned outside of your territory though, not inside, because the game doesn't scale the woods you chop depending on the distance.

The latest patch already made it impossible to harvest outside, I believe.

Is there any point in using weapon that bypass shields in Stellaris? Now I can't use them exclusively, so there's no benefit - ships will still fire at shields most of the time and torpedoes are unlikely to take a ship down before shields go down, so it all goes to the same pool.

You only need to keep a fair amount of military units really. Think defence only. Pikemen are great against horsemen, and normal soldiers are great to defend in hills and woods, and outside your city. If you have a decent amount (doesn't need to be that many), they won't attack so easily. But if they do, you'll manage to defend. Build city walls too, and every city should have slingers/archers/equalent upgrades
