HoTS is actually really good. I have a couple of RL friends that plays it all the time.

It's really smooth, polished and bug free.

The games are pretty fast, they last about 30 mins max, which is also why my friends chose to play it to begin with.

They are fun because with that timeframe, you don't have people sperging out, raging, throwing, tilting, insulting or doing some LUL RANDOM XD shit.

The tactics of the game aren't as vast as in DOTA due to the size of the maps, but good map-awareness, team-play, calling out good move decisions and even split-push can definitely make a comeback and win a game you thought to have lost.

I played it for over 4 days when I was visiting a friend at his house and I had a great time. My only regret is that in the Blizzard side you have to subject yourself to the farming and daily quest pattern.

Which I really hate. I really dislike the modus operandi where you have to farm dailys for points and then use these points to purchase the Heroes. But I understand that it's Blizzard's way to make money out of the game, and at least they are open, in-your-face about it instead of doing shit behind the curtains like Valvo does.

Overall HoTS is a pretty decent game, it's really easy and fun at the end of the day, which is the primary reason why people should be playing video games to begin with.

Not really, you can play the free rotation heroes. If you want to tryhard and play only meta heroes then you might have to pay but if you're just fuckin' around for fun with your friends then you don't.

In any case, paying for heroes is actually really good for the game. If you want to create a smurf, you will have to pay ~$100 to get all your favorite meta heroes. People don't do this so the game has no smurfs. This means that match making is way more stable.

Of course, some people like to smurf around in the games they play and for them it's going to be bad, but for people who just want to play the game it's really good.

Valve, the desert terrain is amazing, but I was taking a break from DotA when it was released. The LC terrain is stunning, but I couldn't shell out the money to get my battle pass up to level 1 billion in order to get it. So I'm stuck with temporary terrain that doesn't look as good as either of those and its a bit dissapointing. Why can't we have a terrain that we can purchase? I'm positive that I'm not the only one who would pay at least $15 for some nice looking terrain.

Buying pixels is on average a shitty deal. Maybe someone can earn money off of it but obviously, in the end, there will be more money lost than gained.

A HotS skin will change your entire hero, I think it also changes some animations sometimes, while a Dota 2 item will just change part of it.

But it's the business model we're discussing, not how much money you have to pay on average per pixel changed. And I think that the chest/droprate model is hard to understand for casuals and designed to get more money out of people than they intended to pay. That some people can somehow make money off of it just accentuates that point.

Also if you're into Rogue-like type of games, maybe try out Hand of Fate or even King's Quest, they are also pretty cool.

Alternatively, if you really want a MOBA fix, then HoTS is your choice over every other, as every 30 min game is fast and filled with enough fun that it serves to ease your desire.
