Evan's already got nerfed. I don't think there will be another nerf afterwards, unless you're talking about the removal of the damage cap. As for funding , I personally think they are pretty hard to fund damage wise as I fail to cap in the endgame bosses even with an large amount of int. Wind blade got nerfed to hell as well as thunder dive, but Earth dive still reliably caps so I have that going for me. All in all, still a better class than shade in my opinion

Despite being top DEEPS, they have garbage mobility and the requirements for the maximization of DEEPS is quite arduous and inconsistent in the various situation like bossing and the like. Whereas evans have specific tools to help him wipe maps clean , kinesis tools for 1 on 1 situations that mainly work on stationary targets.

maple 2 was popular for about a month, then nothing happened, and people started going back to maple 1. around december maple 2 got rune blader, and maple 1 got heroes of maple. then maple 2 got nothing, and it was made obvious that they're trying to follow the same update path as maple 1, with solstice updates 2 times a year and minor content in between, but there's no minor content to update in maple 2. They had absolutely no updates from january to like may in 2016, then they started updating again, they got two new classes, and some more content, and a raised level cap.

But, the game is still dying. It's not retaining the players it gets from those spikes at all. It doesn't have a built base like maple 1 so they can't afford to just only update twice a year.

Plus this year was 5th job for maplestory, and as you might imagine, it absolutely destroyed maple 2. It dropped off of pc방 popularity charts, while maple 1 skyrocketed to ABOVE league of legends and overwatch. Only for one night, but it stayed in the top 3 for almost 2 months before it fell back to 5th-6th below DNF and whatever the 4th fotm is.

maple 2 is slowly recovering but it's not really growing in a way nexon hoped, I would bet.

The chinese open beta isn't breaking any records either, it's sort of run of the mill.

I honestly, legitimately don't see it breaking out of china and korea at this point. I don't see it surviving 3 years but, I didn't see it surviving one year after it's totally content-void launch either, and here we are. I'm not an expert at this stuff, just an enthusiast who loves to maple.

that's maplestory M. It's a new maplestory mobile game, but instead of being instanced and client sided, it's server based, and you can run into other people grinding on maps just like you. And party up with them because good lord it is a chore to grind on a phone.

auto-battling sucks too.

It has daily events you can do to get mileage/rewards points in regular maplestory, and they're running a "kill zakum, get a pipsqueak zakum in regular maple" event right now, after coming off the launch event where you could get several thousand maple points.

it's more likely they just stop updating maplestory 2 at all. They've announced nothing about continuing expansion outside of china.

china is basically the real test for if a game can make it elsewhere. it's almost a pure, 100% pc market. and dnf there is worth about one hundred MILLION us dollars every year.

Anyway, people like to say "oh well a game made it to china so they're planning to expand" but that's not the case in any way, ever. Look at dragon ball online (my favorite example). it had a release in china after an absolutely abysmal, critically panned launch in korea for a whole slew of other problems I won't get into here, and everyone kept saying "oh well wow that means it's coming to the US or at least japan, right?" but then it never happened. It stayed in hong kong for all of a year, then they just shut it down, it couldn't hold a playerbase, and it wasn't getting updated frequently enough, a lot like maple 2. Maple 2 has a slightly more unique style of gameplay keeping it afloat (I personally feel) plus the people who are attached to the customization aspects of it, but I still don't see it making a global release. If it goes anywhere next, it'll be japan, and there's been absolutely no mention, and it's just about out of beta in china. Pretty sure it actually is, I just haven't checked the site in a few months.

If you tap your character you get all the buffs you can use too (except the evil eye, for whatever reason, I guess since it occasionally attacks?), it's pretty neat. I actually like maple M a lot more than pocket (which was basically just "upgrade rings and earrings so your HP regen outpaces enemy damage then turn on auto battle and leave it on overnight".) and there's a good amount of people playing too. Monster collection stuff has been tweaked a bit, you now hear a sound when a monster is registered, and there's some more indicators for when you're applicable to pick up rewards and some other smaller stuff. It's basically just easier to navigate. You can also scroll through the window with the mouse wheel instead of clicking and dragging.

Xenon's job quests have been modified to be a little bit better in terms of exp rewards up to level 30, and it's easier to see portals as well.

Aran's job quests have been modified as well, the ink quest can be completed with 50k mesos instead of 500k now, and a lot of the quests can be started at 15-25 instead of these quests about killing mobs that have had their level changed up through level like fucking 50.

Something about bosses heel patterns being cleared. So maybe patterns in which bosses just sit and wait have been tweaked or removed.

Damien now spawns on all worlds instead of a rare bug where on some worlds he just wouldn't spawn at all sometimes.

There's now a dorothy cube (wonder how that'll look in gms)

the instant kill option of the adventurers cruel ring has been removed (doesn't say what it was replaced with)

Next up is events. There's some big ruin exploration event where you get to explore the ruins of henesys, leafre, black haven, and chuchu island. Weird choices.

And here it is with some crits, with me attacking a dune-drowned artifact or... something. I think once you hit it, there's a time limit, cause I got it to about 2/3 health and it just disappeared with it's death animation, but didn't drop anything.

So, it seems like killing monsters to get the points is the way to go. I'd imagine that killing this dune or whatever will probably drop a bunch of point items and maybe stuff like extra copies of the damage skin or buffs for 2x points or shit like that, like the usual artifact events.

This is just a reskin of it, really. Only there's no gaga and no museum.

To equip a soul, you need a soul enchanter. They drop from mobs and can also be bought from the Murgoth event when it swings around.
Don't quote me on this, but there might also be some tradable ones still floating around from that event, too.
