How the hell are killmails calculated in terms of who gets credit? I was doing some gang shit and one of the ships I put several hundred points of damage into I didn't get on the killmail, yet when I checked it later on zkillboard another guy I was with got on the mail with 0 damage.

My RLML have a fire rate of 3.85s and I hit him with 3 salvos of missiles, so I guess around 8-12 seconds. I didn't get the last hit but I certainly did quite a bit of damage to him, yet I'm not on the killmail anywhere and the other guy is listed on it with 0 damage.

From my understanding it limits you out of every ship except the most basic small and medium ones. As well as no "special" weapons.
And i can get past the +50% training time but that sounds very limiting. The most expensive ships i can fly are like 10 million and i already got 5 millions in one day.

You won't be flying any of those limited ships anytime soon. You need your core skills (engineering, weapon upgrades, weapon skills of your choice, hull skills, shield skills) which are available to you and will take you a long time to train and without those core skills you might as well climb on a piece of debris and blow air into space to push yourself around and spit soggy paper balls at ships which is pretty much the same thing as flying an expensive t2, t3 ship without proper skills.

You aren't missing out on anything yet and a pilot who knows the game better can fuck over any retard who thinks having an expensive ship makes them a better pilot.

A good PvP pilot knows what his ship can do, what/who/where to avoid and what/who/where to engage. This is I think the most basic definition of a good PvP pilot. You of course have to keep up with game updates and what known PvP'ers use because most people get their PvP fits from famous streams and/or youtube people.

In order to get there you gotta play the game, git gud with all the basic ships, do low tier PvP and ask questions to people, learn about game mechanics. You won't git gud if you don't learn abou the game and people who play it basically desu famshalam.

if it's just 1 ship fighting 1 ship, you might be just orbiting or keeping at range. active tanked ships you'll need to turn reps on and off appropriately and watch your capacitor, possibly having to feed it with a cap booster. overheating modules is a big thing in pvp, pretty much everyone overheats at least their guns in all fights that aren't just 10 guys fragging someone - if you're bad at overheating then you will burn out your modules and lose

orbiting and keeping at range are about applying damage to the enemy while mitigating their damage if possible. when to do each one, and at what range. it depends on lots of stuff

when there enemy has backup coming or you're just straight up fighting multiple people at once, then the stuff I said about judgement and being captain picard come into play. you need to prioritise certain targets, manage risk, think about where and when you are engaging, maybe engage in a suboptimal way to kill and get out faster, it's complicated
