I like her because when I read up on Cu's legend the idea of a Scottish warrior woman teaching heroes appealed to me a lot and I liked his training arc with her. I also liked the description of her in HA and when she finally came out in GO I liked her design. Her My Room lines and battle dialogue are disappointingly bland but her presence in story content and events has helped make her more interesting as a character.

It's definitely true that the majority of people going on about their Scath-shishou are EOP and only like her for her design, though.

For the ones who asked why did Iskandar 'betrayed' Altera, it's simple: he was never loyal. He agreed to follow her because she beat him when he was fucking around, as long as she proved to be worthy to follow, he wouldn't have minded. But Altera has zero insight or vision while Iskandar is all about glory and greed. She's not a real king or leader. All she bemoans about is waaaah I wanna be a normal gurl, so he is just usurping the position of someone perceived as weak and unworthy as a leader from his perspective. It's not like Gilgamesh acknowledges her as leader either, he's simply using her for his agenda. Jeanne is the only one who gives a fuck about her as a person from her group, eventually, in her story.

Altera wasn't really a ruler for the Huns, she was more of a figurehead who just razed when she was told. Kind of a tool. Probably why she isn't counted with the actual King of Kings label.
