And how well did that work out for them? Wasn't that long ago that Dovac was saying their games where not selling on Steam either and whining about pirates. The only games that really sell are the Sakura and Nekopara games. Steam was never a silver bullet and was over stated as being the savoir of VNs as it never was. Same goes with MG and even JAST trying to capitalise on steam.

Frontwing remade Himawari with new art, voices, etc. for the Vita in Japan. MG is bringing over that version, since it's considered the best version of the game.

As for why not the old version too, most likely because that would compete with Frontwing's version. And some of the MG staff are anti-loli, so that's a possible reason too.

So I did everything the guide says for installing Kamidori. Switched back to english locale and tried using applocale on the program again because my laptop got nuked when I left it on jap locale (vvv file extension). So I'd like to take a minute to talk about the Galaxy Angel trilogy.

The GA trilogy is based around the battles of Tact Meyers, a military commander, and the Angel Wing, an troupe of soldiers piloting the Emblem Frames, highly-advanced Precursor technology.

The trilogy is separated from other dating sims by several elements. First of all, gameplay. The story is broken up by combat segments highly reminiscent of the Homeworld series, where the player, as Tact Meyers, commands the Angel Wing in combat in a 3d battle ground. The combat is fun, engaging and has surprising affect on the plot that isn't immediately noticeable, with certain side objectives winning affection from the Angels if completed. Affection is linked into combat, and effectively acts as a level system. The more and angel likes you, the more effective she is in combat.

Secondly, the main character. Tact Meyers is not a personality-less blob like many dating sim protags. He has a defined character, that often leads to him doing impressive or insane things, like dressing up as a Ranpha fanboy and parading around the ship with a flag strapped to his back to reassure Ranpha of his affection.

Thirdly, the three games make up a continuing (and very long) saga. In most VN's/Dating Sims, the common route where you pick a girl can take anything from half to two thirds of the actual story content. In GA, it takes less than 20% of any individual storyline, as you pick a girl in the first game, and have two full games to continue her story with Tact.

Fourthly, it's not an H-series. BUT THAT'S BAD, you say. Well, no. The lack of H content actually allows the writers to do ballsy shit that they would never be allowed to do in an H-game, like have Tact propose, quite sincerely, to a thirteen year old. And marry her in the epilogue.

Basically, if you've never given it a look, you should play this series. It's all translated into English and there's enough content to keep you busy for weeks.
