The way I'm seeing it is that the book has generally the same flow of events but with the details mucked about with. So either Afton is working alone in the game universe or Henry died sometime before SL.

Trouble is, it's hard to pinpoint exactly WHEN SL takes place. The victory chime at the end of each night is clearly a sample of "Jump" by Van Halen and the house looks very 80's aesthetically, but there's also a lot of weird sci-fi stuff beyond anything seen in any other installment. If a time period for SL could be surmised than I think it'd fall into place much more easily.

It could also be another failsafe like the SL bots' child-kidnapping features, where the crooked programming takes over when certain conditions are met. It sounds like they're built to dissuade Circus Baby employees from trying to get inside. That'd be useful if there's a kid inside the robot.
