Generally the XP is about what you'd expect for the amount of work involved.

Scythe crops are bugged to not give XP. Smaller faster crops give more XP quicker. Just like plant lots of crops yo.

Do any of the other Harvest Moon games come close to the perfection that is Friends of Mineral town, or should I just get Stardew Valley? I'm so disappointed that all the DS/3DS HM games I've tried have shitty 3D graphics and have completely abandoned beautiful sprite graphics, with "real music" instead of 8bit sort of music.

Stardew Valley is very much based on the older Harvest Moon games. In terms of content it doesn't have as much as those games though, if you know what you're doing and speed run it you can probably brun through every bit of content the game has to offer inside 30 hours.

It really helps to make your jumbo crop patches as fuckheug as possible. As you can see the iridium sprinkers leave a lot of dead space around the edges so for best results the crops should only be between them. Increase the gap with a touch of dry land if desired(bigger blobs dramatically increase heug chance), and fill the edges with plain crops.

An earlier thread showed that jumbo crops will last forever and can be used as permanent decorations. I dunno if that's still true in 1.1 but it's pretty neat.

So something that pisses me off about the game is how much the skin tones vary between the portraits and sprites.

I couldn't work out why I thought Emily looked weird until it clicked to me that her sprite is tan as fuck compared to her portrait. Maybe it's the colours of her hair/clothes, but it looks like she's super pale and it's just off putting.

CA changed the art and style of each character's portraits during development so much i wouldn't be surprised if he forgot to give the sprites a final touch-up once he was done with the portraits, at the very least just so they'd match the initial sprites
