STA-2 and T40 are both very good premiums, the mobility buff to the STA-2 will make it even better than the regular STA (it already has better gun handling)
the only downside of the STA-2 is that you need to run food if you want max view range, to compansate that a bit you rarely have to shot gold and if you have to it gets 275mm pen

It has good mobility and good camo, so snipe unless/until your flank has the advantage then play aggressively like a StuG. conqueror has the same hull as the caern und gets its ammo rack damaged like every 2nd shot in the front
atleast the turret is better and the gun is excellent, but it can be a real pain to play on maps where you cant go hull down

With XVM you can predict the outcome of a match pretty well. When your top tier heavies are 300wn8 Brazilians or idiots in rental tanks, you won't be making the mistake of assuming they can shoot an open target.

No XVM will add uncertainty and it won't be quite as clear how unbalanced the teams can really be.

T26E5 is a very good tank but its not overpowered. It does not have any part thats an autobounce zone, like the type 59. It doesnt have a crazy good gun or scout like mobility. Its just an all round good tank. Its a tier 8 premium M103. So it will respond to the driver and be as good as they are.

Does anyone have advice for the JT88? I can't fault its credit earning (or its gorgeous aesthetic), but my winrate is 45% after 800 games. I don't pretend to be any good, but that's a bot-tier winrate. Whatver I do, I just feel out of place, ineffectual and passive. Although it feels like its cursed with lousy teams, I have played enough games now that I know it's not a statistical anomaly. So it just sits there at the top of my service record and drags down my gobal WR.

Incidentally, my damage in it is very average, so it's dragging down my WN8 which is moving into 'above average/good'. I think that the fundamental issue to me is one of positioning. When I have those rare games where I place it correctly, it is incredibly fun and rewarding. If I knew how to position it better and read team compositions better, I could do more damage and have more impact on the battle result.

Usually I just receive generic advice like hide your weakspots, but my frustration is that I can't find positions on maps that adequately cover weakspots and allow me to actively do damage. It feels so defensive and passive. Oh, and arty loves my sluggish mobility and flat surfaces.

Then there's those people who tell me to play it as an assault tank, but its lower glacis is a free penetration and its low speed, horrific traverse and deplorable side armour make it vulnerable to anything remotely fast.

In city maps it's ok because I can cover alleys from nice, cosy positions behind rubble and flanking opportunities are limited. But even then, I still fundamentally rely on my team, and the enemy are rarely braindead enough to receive more than one shot. And that shot is only 240 alpha (if it even penetrates) which is hardly going to ruin anyone's day.

Even if you don't have it, how do you guys manage in the Ferdinand/JP2/Jagdtiger/British AT Series?

The JT simply trades fun for credits. I almost never have a good time in it.

Than being said, the best way to play it is by staying ~300 meters from any major chokepoint and plinking away at the enemy. You're too slow usually to ever get in a fight and your alpha isn't good enough to brawl heavies up-close.
