Just checked. At 40/40/40/40 both Soldier and Barbarian sit at SL117. If you're only ever going to use huge strength weapons, cutting DEX brings a Barbarian to 86, so you could go 40/40/54 and sit at a super comfy SL100.

A backpedalling shield user is a nightmare. I find passive aggressive straight sword turtles to be harder to fight than Carthus users. If the turtle is good at stamina management and passive play then good shields like the BK Shield become extremely annoying. They can backpedal and kite you around, or apply pressure and go for roll catches and backstabs from the safety of their shield. If they are good they will dodge the guard breaks, spamming on their shields doesn't work unless you have a curved sword, etc. Shields are just really good all around.

Just to clarify the (weapon) and (armor) just means a spellsword isn't restricted to anything. He could be a spelllance, or a spellaxe, or a spellmace, and could use light or medium or heavy armor or even no armor at all. Literally just your average melee guy who decided he wanted to learn a few spells to make his job easier, be that by enhancing his strength or teleporting himself closer to the enemy or making his weapon magically sharp.

I want to hop back into DkS3 however i have no idea if anything i had on my build was nerfed/buffed to significant extent.

I dunno. It needed more time but Kojima worked on that game for an assload of time, other devs would be happy if they were given this much time. I suppose it was his inexperience with open world that got in the way or I don't know what.
The open world was unnecessary as fuck anyway and was completely dead. You can approach missions from different angles but even MGS3 had situations where you could enter buildings in various ways and that was enough.

There's no punishment for leaving them nor have they got interactions as good as the other ones had.
In 1, if you're a member of a covenant, you'll play their part. DMB is the best buff in the game, but you're not leaving that covenant ever in order to be allowed to use it. Even the right to use other spells properly is locked behind them and they also are far more lore relevant than the shit ones 2 and 3 have. They also make you feel like you're a bigger part of them and their NPCs are plain better.
Most importantly, as said above, they are not glorified items that 2 and 3 made.

Lothric Knight GS is my personal fav. It has insane AR when buffed with gold pine resin and it's pretty easy to b8 people into your charged R2s. The rolling R1 is also a super fast poke. Just be wary of parries.

should i feel bad if i had to rely on parries to beat bosses like champion gundyr and sully? i felt like it was either that or just laming out the fights and baiting out their moves that i knew had long recovery times.

it's kind of embarassing how many times i swung at gundyr, only to get shoulder charged, popped up into the air, and booted to death.

t. spear chucker, I mainly use the javelin and millwood greatbow, but my 2nd main weapon is the giant club. You'd be surprised how much you can fuck up central irithyll ganks with that shit if you know how to use it effectively or how to parry.

there are a lot of things that are absurdly OP in the right hands, and no I still haven't figured out a way to deal with the dirty guilty feeling I feel after winning way too many fights in a row.

like i still don't know how people are supposed to deal with any dagger (but especially the great knife) + carthus bloodring + 40 END, even better with hollow bleed shenanigans with bandit knife or what i do which is 60 faith DMB on the greatknife. it's so fucking quick to attack and is nearly impossible to roll catch, on top of that you can just make the greatknife raw infused so you're free to dump a lot of stats into 40 VIG and having enough VIT to wear heavy enough armor to compensate for the bloodring drawback.

the past couple of 2 man brawls I've played I've had people literally just giving up after losing a couple of times. idk how to feel about it, i wish they'd at least keep fighting even after I dumpstered them in the double digits.
