I've dabbled in many heroes during free weeklies but I've been saving up for some of the 10k ones like Loeric, so I don't have a ton of them at the moment. Some of the more complex heroes require being good with them to be fun so I just thought someone who spends a lot of time with a specific character might want to recommend them or something. Just stimulating discussion.

Well I really enjoy unorthodox heroes. I have a lot of games played with insanely high winrates with "bad" heroes like Gazlowe. Yet majority of people sit their ball-sack on FoTM/OP/Meta assassin heroes.

the main reason i like brightwing is that the healing is pretty passive, and i can focus on stuff that interests me more, like cc, dps, shielding people. theres a lot of room to play more aggressively as long as you're vaguely close to your team.

I actually really enjoying healing with Kharazim. I know it's not the most optimal but if we're just talking about fun builds, having him heal passively while you pummel the fuck out of everything you see is fun. You can just start beating on walls or whatever if there's nothing around and you need some healing. You can contribute to your team quite a lot by being aggressive. You're not going to win in numbers but it's rewarding to play IMO.

He can be tough to use well, I'm terrible with him still but I'm going to stick with it. I've found if you don't get hits in constantly and reliably the rest of the team will finish off targets before you can get enough hits in to heal much, so you always need to be in the thick of it even though he can't take too much damage. Merc camps can be useful punching bags to top everyone up before a push, as well as letting the rest of your team leave fort walls behind if you need a safe target.

A good Tracer is annoying as fuck. She works similarly to her Overwatch playstyle in that she chips at you just enough that you want to drop what you're doing and focus her. If you ignore her and tank the damage you'll definitely suffer but she can get away faster than you can take her out most the time. Don't try and be ultra-high DPS with her

So Varian can be Prot, Arms, or Fury. That's pretty fucking amazing.

HOWEVER, can he a Gladiator (rest in peace) as well? This may determine whether or not I buy him day one.

I give absolutely no fucks about any Alliance character, aside from Greymane, because none of them have ever seemed interesting to me aside from him.

Seeing that Varian will be able to spec to be a Protection, Arms, AND Fury Warrior, instantly makes me extremely happy to have him. I think his kit is absolutely fucking awesome, and I don't see how anyone who loves Warrior couldn't love Varian. SO, I say that to say that I'm pretty turned around on the guy. Never gave a shit about him in WoW, but I'm really liking him in HotS, and that's actually kind of bleeding a bit into WoW, in that I actually kinda wanna read about him a bit now.

And even though I just straight up hate the Alliance, the fact that he has Alliance representation all over him, ESPECIALLY on that Master skin of his, is pretty fucking rad. I wish the Horde had somebody like taht, but then again, there's no single character that could rep the entirety of the Horde in the way Varian reps the Alliance. In my opinion anyway.

Blizzard isn't trying to appeal to the crowd that's already in deep enough that they know Guy Montag was actually a hero in those shitty side missions or understanding the cow level meme. They're throwing out flashier shit that'll get people interested in the games they still work on so they can sell some more of those expansions they won't stop putting out.

PTR is a seperate region, so it means you don't complete quests, your gold doesn't do anything and it isn't always available. There is basically no matchmaking and as people from China get matched with people from the US, the lag can be miserable.

So, it is just for testing and seeing what builds or heroes they'll introduce in the future. You can buy heroes with real cash on PTR and they'll transfer to your actual region, but that's it.

PTR stands for Public Test Realm, it is up for the public to test new stuff. You can play it whenever it's up, the difference is your progress is not recorded over from your main account other than the heroes you own.

Also the only way to own the new hero on the PTR is to buy them with real money, they aren't available on the PTR for gold. This is done mostly so queue times aren't insane when trying out the new hero (although they are pretty long anyway because only a small portion of the player base uses the PTR). But if you do buy it on the PTR you will get it on your main account when the PTR patch goes live the following week.

Big fan of the vision one. I REALLY dig that. They're basically wards, and I think the fact that they gave him what's essentially a better Scouting Drone is awesome considering he doesn't have much utility baseline.
