There are lots of questions about the new server here and we don't know the answers to lots of them.
There is an AMA on leddit on the 13th, i would encourage some of you to ask questions, and the china issue would definitely be a decent one.
I know it may be a lot to ask, but doing it without using words like "chink" would help, and using common sense shit like the fact that chinks don't even see a problem with gold selling/buying and mostly sell to other chinks, which means more chinks, which means more farmers, repeat repeat.
If I could find the old chink gold site that I used to look at to see which ranked characters were being sold by the chinese fags, i would bet a lot of money they're already talking about the new server.
It's true most of the old nost devs are there so it may be useless, but there are valk people in charge as well and i'm hoping they aren't as hopelessly cucked. Suzerain is doing the ama, and they aren't a nost fag.

Prot paladins - Oom very quickly ( 2-3 consecs and you're out ) deranking will not give you enough threat gen at higher levels.
Druids tanks - Not bad can work and have before there was plenty of videos of Druid tanks tanking MC and BWL in vanilla.
Vanilla is just a shit show of MIN/MAXING in raids now and no one will take you seriously.

Very common, any mail gear with spell damage is going to a shaman, and there is ample of it. Basically the entirety of the Shaman 2.5 set can be used as elemental pvp. It's just not viable in raiding until you are tier the content. And you won't raid AQ as elemental because of resistances (assuming Nost scripting isn't as shit and people say and resistances actually work properly)

For raiding: classes that can heal are basically forced to heal because their other specs do not compete with pure classes in dps/tanking. The only viable tanks are warriors except for like 1-2 situations where you would be better off with a warrior anyways.

before raiding: Boomkins go oom way too fast to be viable, maybe they are viable in 5-10 mans if they outgear the content idk. Feral tanks are op as fuck at low-mid level and so are paladins. I tanked gnomer as a paladin and was like 4-5 levels below the recommended level and our group did fine.
As a paladin you can spec holy-prot and do really well tanking and on the dps meters with a 2 hander if your group gets a warrior.. until end game then you start to fall off in viability.

I leveled a paladin on retail vanilla and on nost and it was great for groups. i was holy-prot and i could tank or heal if the group needed or equip my epic 2 hander (nost had subtle funserver droprates) and destroy the damage meters when things went to aoe because of consecration.

If you want to play a druid or a paladin for tanking then do it. Just be prepared to heal in your weekly raids.

Gnome, dwarf and human racials are all very good for warriors.

Alliance PVP racials for warriors:

Back then you didn't care about raiding this much. The 1-60 part was actually huge and entertaining, it was not just a tease for the "real game" like it is now on retail. Back then it was quite the opposite: raiding was just the dessert, something you wasn't aware that exists while choosing your class and first talents.

Other than this: if you look at the design of the first raids like MC, you'll notice that they are pretty simple. They are huge rooms with mobs, and if you can dispell and get out of the fire you are good to go. In theory, if you had some tanks and some healers, you were just fine in any shitty gear (but in good gear, 40 people is just overkill for these places). It was for the lulz and fun, like day long AVs.

But, of course, if you want to compete with the other guilds, you have to analyze your resources, so people who cared about this stuff found the cookie cutter raid set ups and BiS gear, thus hard core raiding was born, and ever since everyone thinks that you must follow these patterns created by the best to be able to raid. And later on, Blizzard realized what has happened, how the players actually played the game, and they followed the trend. Just look at how different AQ, ZG and Naxx is from MC, BWL and Ony.

The original idea of the game was to have a fun RP time in this fantasy world with a thousand other people, and in that aspect, every spec and race-class combo is viable.

Both are good. Rogue 5/8 tier1 is VERY good with Vigor spec(you can get an extra backstab in during the initial stunlock).

Hunters are really easy to gear up: they have 50% chance to get their epic weapon from MC and their pre-raid bis weapon is from AV quest.

Teleports/portals are SUPER convenient. Making your own food is excellent and very necessary, given mages are prone to oom after just a few mobs. Poly is a staple CC that's easy to apply. AoE farming can be applied to earn both money and cash. Damage wise, they shine in post-BWL and are almost always needed.

Overall, it's a very solid class and ice shards/shatter is a very fun talent combination. Unfortunately they're pretty boring in raids, since it's always spamming Frostbolt for single target dps and Cone of Cold/Arcane Explosion for AoE. I'll be rolling a rogue or warrior to play as melee dps this time but there's little wrong in rolling a mage.

If you really want to get the vanilla experience, just go in blind and discover all these small wonders for yourself.

If you really want to play safe and you want to be ready for raiding from the very beginning:
Only pure DPS classes can do good DPS
Warriors are tanks
Anything that can heal will have to heal

Whatever you pick, you have to stay in one of these categories to be viable in raiding. Other than this, you can get to 60 with really anything, and any spec is viable in 5 mens (but at end game 5 mens you really need good gear of you leave the comfort zone of your class, like a shadow priest in green gear in Scholomance is just worthless). It's easier to lvl with a pure DPS class, it's pretty easy with mage, hunter, warlock. It's pretty hard to lvl as a warrior or any other melee class since you are too gear dependent. It'll be just my opinion, but leveling with a hybrid in vanilla is just a bit boring, since your rotation for each spec consist of maybe 1-2 spells. Your survivability is high, but the progress might be slow.

So what isntier 0.5 and the upgraded version for if its not BiS? Just a fun set?

Unfortunately, levelling a mage isn't exactly a fun experience. Physical classes get a rush from getting a new weapon whereas casters don't really receive much benefit from items because +sp items are virtually nonexistent until mid 30s and only start to stack properly at 50+. I feel like other casters have much more fun spells to use while they level, except maybe for priests and their wand spam.

There's also the fact that in wPvP you're dead meat whenever someone catches you in combat (pre 60, that is). You'll be playing as a glass cannon that doesn't really show the "cannon" part until very late.

back then and still today i think of raiding as more of a means for myself to get good gear so i can dick around in world pvp. when im thinking of a class to play and looking at talents "for end game" i always tinker around with the trees a bit to find the build i want to use for world pvp. based around fighting off enemy faction members from my farm zone etc.

enchanting is nice for caster classes because wands have good DPS and are cheap to make, especially on the priest wand 25% dmg talent helps in leveling because you can wand mobs instead of using spells, so it's slower for each mobs, but you don't drink in between, increasing your uptime

For the first two to three weeks maybe. So what? By the time you hit 60 people will already be after mats, and that'll be when those mats are at their highest value too. If you're playing on a fresh server then being one of the first high level enchanters will be a boon, but don't do it anyway if you clearly don't want to.
