Obvious game purposes. In that one short clip she got in one of the trailers she's both boosting and shooting at once and shooting from distance where it would be pointless in game. I imagine in canon, her meka would solo half of the cast without much sweat.
In the bastion short you see one fire strike wrecking bunch of bastions and at the same time the shield holding against concentrated fire of several units. Doesn't work like that in game either.

no, invis doesn't do much more than give her a modified Soldier:76 spring. The delay that prevents her from firing when exiting sprint- I mean invis- is long enough that she can't wait to come out of invis near the fight, she has to come out of invis much sooner to be prepared to actually be able to shoot and kill things.

it makes you ask, so what is invis for? You can throw the translocator while invis, but the translocator itself gives away your position, and you have nothing to survive with after that kind of dive. Thus everyone uses the translocator as a retreat button- with maintenance you have a near tracer-identical escape available 15 out of every 21 seconds. This somewhat implies that she could infiltrate deep, but with nothing like Genji's deflect and swift strike or tracer's blinks because of the delay on her invis, she doesn't have way to get in to the ranges where she could actually gun down an enemy.

So maybe she's supposed to hack targets and that's her focus? People just use their abilities before being hacked, making the cooldown use lockout marginal- and with the zero damage output, naturally exposed nature of Sombra while hacking, and it being a 1 second channel that is interrupted on any LoS break, a barrier going up, or damage, the times you could or should use it are marginal. Hack itself is by definition ambiguous. The rules of what it does or doesn't do and it's general purpose as an ability REQUIRE research. Does it hack Soldier:76's legs? Yes. Does it hack Genji Double Jump? No. Mei might cryostasis, do I try to hack her or do I just shoot her? 9/10 the answer is shoot her, but that doesn't seem natural to anybody.

The best you can get from Sombra is to just chase your Winston around using him as a distraction so you can shoot targets and build your ult, occasionally sprint down a target with opportunistic and invis, and salt healthpacks. That's feels like a pretty scattered kit and focus to me.

her gun is strong against large, unarmored targets. 20 rounds per second at 8 damage per round, she's the first character to take a full 50% damage reduction against armor. Her spread makes her significantly worse against small targets like Genji. She does pretty well damaging Roadhog in the ranges of less than 15m- just hope that Roadhog doesn't one-shot you at 9m, 1m, or 20m while you're trying to do this.
