It's pretty good. My only major gripe with it was city buildings felt pointless, it never really felt like I had a real choice to make and it pretty much just boiled down to putting literally everything in a queue and leaving it be for 40 turns.

>>159816187
It's interesting and fun for at least a few plays, lots of flavour and all the factions play very uniquely in comparison to civ factions. The balance is kinda wonky though and getting a good start is very important on higher difficulties because of how insane the start differences you can get are.

Like, in civ 5 or 6 a good start just means a slight edge on early food or production usually. Outside of natural wonders (especially on civ 5 Spain) and maybe a god tier petra city (and river in civ 6) there isn't a huge disparity in most starts unless you get really unlucky tundra or flat desert or something.

In Endless Legend a really good start could kick you off with like 10 food and science per turn, 15 something production, and a few dust, because every region has a few super tiles that insane bonuses and if you happen to have a few of them within range of the initial settle you have a huge advantage. Meanwhile. sometimes you get unlucky and can't get a settle any better than like 5-7 food and production and 3-5 dust and science.
>>

>>
>>159817316

in DW spice tiles evaporate if they're within your borders at a rate of 3% chance per turn (iirc). they're replenished by random "spice blows" that cover most of a 3x3 ocean/desert area with new spice

i'm a filthy lucker and got a spice blow right next to my city. this is why you settle on the coast in a spice economy

How are you installing them exactly? If your downloading them from stellaris.smods, then when you unpack them you should get a folder and a .MOD file. Put the MOD file in C:\Users\(whatever your username is)\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\mod

and the folder in: C:\Users\(Insert Username)\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\workshop\content\281990

Just make the 281990 folder if you have too. I've been doing it like this and every mod works on my pirated version.
>>
>>159820146
It works fine for me. Do you have the CODEX-version?
>>
>>159820412
>>159820424

I was downloading them from the archive in the OP, which I think just automatically downloads them from the Steam Workshop and uploads them to Mega. Anyways, they come like this, without a .mod file, so I had to create one and do it properly.

I actually managed to get them working right now, with some finagling.

>>
>>159821870

you want as much (non-desert/tundra) territory as possible, but it takes a while until a new city starts to break even.

expand too quickly and you end up broke/behind in science from maintenance

expand too slowly and someone else grabs all the nice city sites

there's a lot of nuance to it since the costs are actually pretty well balanced

Focus production early game until you get a few Dust buildings up, then focus on Dust production now and forever.

I keep winning most battles against the Bugmen fairly easily.
Mostly this comes from my main fleet, which is systematically bombing all their planets, I've also raised a smaller rapid response fleet to protect my own space.
Even when outnumbered, my Battleships are able to take on their roughly equivalent Dreadnoughts because while both of us sport shield-penetrating heavy railguns, I have force fields, which do stop projectiles. Essentially I can shoot straight through their shields and they can't do a thing against me.

>>159856145
That's my humble plan.
To exterminate all non-enslaved Xenos in the galaxy.

Their home system has already been entirely depopulated, and a lot of the planets in former Human space has rebelled against them.

Petra doesn't give you bonuses for flood plains so it's not that good, but you have a few desert hills there so it's still alright.

He's right though. Astronauts tend to have red faces and skinny legs due to blood tending to remain in their center of mass, rather than being dragged down into their legs by gravity.

Changed name for HuMAGAn Khanate

>Repugnant -1
Other species happiness decreases due to the xenophobic nature of the Humagans more than their appearance per se

>Sedentary -1
Humagans are very nationalistic/planetaristic and prefer the comfort of staying on their home planet, rather than migrating somewhere else

>Industrious +2
Without the welfare-riding minorities holding the Humagans back, the resources could be focused on productivity instead and their industries bloomed.

>Thrifty +2
Before stepping off as a president, Donald Trump teached his countrymen the ways of his "The Art of The Deal" making the nation (and then planet) as a whole more economy-focused.

You know, even after all the shit, I really didn't think reviewers got paid for reviews. I thought it was a bunch of tinfoil hat shit or if it was true, it was really limited. But after the universal reception for civ 6, yeah.

>>159872314
Got me to buy the game, unfortunately, even though I had to finagle with my computer for having extra files preventing the game to run and also with GMG to get my keys exchanged...

I was so close, I pirated it and tried it....why oh why did I not finish the game first and decide if the AI is super retarded instead of buying it outright because reviews and great remarks on youtubes on release day....
>>
>>159872314
Why not to trust large media publications on game reviews:

They don't want to piss off the companies whose games they are reviewing, lest they don't get access to early review copies, causing their reviews to be late and less traffic going to their articles/videos, meaning less relevance, meaning less revenue.

If you're only finding this out about IGN, Gamespot, etc until now then I gotta ask you my man: have you been living under a rock?

As a rule of thumb, independent reviewers are the only ones you should give a shit about. And even then you have to be skeptical of them too. But pay articular attention to those who get black listed for telling too many truths, because at least you know they give a crap about saying their actual opinion and not carefully thought out words to not piss off anybody.

No, it was, I just don't think GGers were intelligent enough to notice IGN shilling pre-orders for a game before, and this always came as a huge surprise to them, inevitably giving the game a good review.
>>
>>159875047
Yeah because the term "shill" totally wasn't a thing on 4chan until GG.
>>
>>159875180
4chan saw the darkness.
They said "let there be light", and light appeared.
They said "let there be video games and anime", and they appeared.
They said "fucking shill SJWs pieces of shit", and everyone learned these words from them.

It's not that it's a new and shocking phenomenon, it's the fact that technology has changed and the techniques for developer powerplays are more sophisticated thanks to social media, and on the flipside dissemination of it became more widespread for the same reason. The base modifiers haven't changed, just the multipliers.
>>

HELP!

I've built up a close relationship with my neighbour, Scythia, but they're at war with a nearby city-state that I've since become the suzerain of.

Now the city state fights back at the troops around it, but Scythia won't ever actually attack it. They just keep sending more troops to the city.

It's currently pic related, and the troops are beginning to concern me, is there anything other than "WARRRRRR" which can get Scythia to calm the fuck down?

We start out with no air force, no tanks, no artillery, a pitiful army, and somewhat decent small navy.

It took me half of 1936 just to get full supplies for the divisions I started with.

It's pretty meh. The only real objective is galactic conquest and yet they make waging war extremely tedious. There's the crises but they are usually piss-easy to deal with and are ultimately just another form of warfare. The diplomatic aspects are laughably limited and clunky, it's impossible to do any meaningful play as a diplomatic empire, you're railroaded into waging war to advance the game just from the sheer lack of features and total stupidity of the AI.

So basically the only way to have fun is to turn down the number of AI empires to a very minimal amount so you don't have to deal with over a dozen moronic AI factions that have no idea how to trade or make deals and can just focus on 1 or 2 at a time.

My sister already replaced all the lines in her copy (Chinese version) with ones she picked out herself (she muted the speaker). R8 her taste
Animal Husbandry - Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals. - George Orwell
Mount Everest - Where do the highest mountains come from? I once asked. Then I learned that they come from out of the sea. The evidence is inscribed in their stone and in the walls of their summits. It is from the deepest that the highest must come to its height. - Friedrich Nietzsche
Kilimanjaro - God feared the Tower of Babel when it was a mere sixty meters tall but he does not strike down mountains which tower hundred times taller? - Anon
Military Science - If you have already gone to war, it is too late to begin thinking about how to win. - Sun Tzu, paraphrased by Cao Cao
Ballistics - The Chinese have spent years trying to figure out where a rock lands when thrown. We just throw the rock and get more ammo. - Unnamed siege engineer during the Mongol Conquest of Song
Scorched Earth - The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. - Apocalypse 8:7
Early Empire - I will not conquer. I will make our kingdom so great that other kingdoms and other peoples will clamor and shout in their desperation to claim "I am part of Qin". - Lv Buwei, Chancellor of Qin.
Capitalism - Capitalism is the art of cheating people while pretending you have been cheated.

Honestly some of the best quotes are great not just because of the words but the context.

A friend sent me this, thinking it was funny and that I maybe hadn't seen it before (currently enlisting with USMC and this guy is the greatest Marine who ever lived)

I saw him the next day and told him the context for Chesty saying that, he shit his pants
>>
>>159920435
what is the context?
>>
>>159920435
I honestly think that a good quote shouldn't need context to be understood beyond a rudimentary knowledge of history maybe
Like, the coal miner's wife quote is actually not too bad in context even if it fits far better for industrialization...but it assumes you actually know about the song, which not everyone does. Meanwhile Homer and Plutarch and Chaucey whatnot have either directly relevant quotes (Oracle) or have quotes that are obvious and understandable as long as you understand English.

Painful to sit through, and technically requires the most mechanics.

You need

Great People, merchants, writers, artists, musicians
Gotta make sure you get the right great people
The presence of mind to pick which second building for theater districts
Need to make use of archeologists,
Themeing mechanic
National Park Fuckery
Prepping locations way in advance for appeal for tourism
Picking the right civics

I'm not saying any of this is hard, but it's a little more involved than any of the others. I'd say religious is probably the most difficulty though just because of the tedium and the AI's ability to make 500 apostles

It's my autism speaking, but i simply love the fact that people can't cheat on Civ 5 and 6 (don't know about previous iterations) without others noticing thanks to the end-game replay screen (so any sudden gold/production/faith/literally everything spike is documented in the graphs)
It kinda makes me enjoy single player more, knowing i can prove i legit won a hard game or Deity.
>>
>>159932559
This has been true since Civ5, Civ4 had IGE with no mods, so you could cheat the map/resources with no mods "documented" in the save.
>>
Why aren't units pushed back outside borders when you declare war if you sneak them in during open borders like in Civ 5 or is that later tech? Like it's obvious when an AI asks to move in 10 warriors inside your cap, but it's still a ridiculous mechanic to be able to declare a "surprise war" without any penalties.

Should be possible. When you look at the civilopedia for c2c, it clearly lists stuff like "unique unit:none" and stuff like that. The only stuff added to leaders in c2c is having 3 traits instead of 2 and the native cultures. Everything else is the same.

And yes, that is a bandit unit. I help the Yangshao in their war with the Egyptians, and I can't leave my units undefended in their territory because they'll go after my stuff with bandit riders. Normally that would piss me off enough to leave them to their fate, but that would put Egypt (who has a huge military and is very advanced) right on my border.

purging the last pop from a planet removes the colony and the planet acts as neutral which you can then terraform if you want to
if you have purging policy enabled you can set as war demands to purge whole planets

The zone of control around the planet disappears so it becomes empty space that you must either colonize right away or build an outpost to claim. It can be horseshit because the AI may have a colony ship lying around to instagrab the planet back right away.

At first that was exactly what I was doing. Kongo's warriors actually started to attack the barbarians which I thought was my chance gracefully survive and get that sweet peace money. My warrior got ambushed by two horse archers and was quickly killed off. Two or three turns after even more Kongo warriors appeared and bursted my city down in one turn.

Honestly every fucking game on Pangaea is the exact same buttfuckery over and over again. Endless backstabbing by the autistic AI and barbarians building their shitty bases in the most ridiculous places possible, civs declaring war on you even though they haven't met you before once, YOUR OWN civ declaring war on you, joint wars out of the ass even though one of two civs declaring war doesn't even have their forces near my territory.

I was thinking, are there any migration-style mods for Civilization? It'd be cool if certain civilizations got the ability to basically just pick up their cities and move them. The tradeoff would be that the moving cities work no tiles at all (as they're represented by a unit now) and only gives 50% yields from internal buildings.
It'd also be a cool way to buff nomadic tribes so say with the Huns, you could have their cities give 100% yields while moving and be able to produce units, or the Mongols who have cities with 3 or 4 movement instead of 2.

Those construction sites are Commercial Hubs, H are the future locations for Hansa, the number after it is the adjacency bonus.

An inherent problem with the game. You can't scout, and the best defense is a good offense. If you can't outnumber them (which isn't always effective), you would need some information on what they have equipped, which you just can't do in this game. I guess you could send on ship out to see what weapons they have, but that still won't help if you didn't research the right shit up until that point.

Basically, just rush bigger ships is all you can do. Anything else is luck. If all else fails, cheat.
>>
>>159982491
did they have superior fleet capacity and superior tech?

Just builds more ships, get an admirial, use spaceport modules particularly the firerate one and fleet command or whatever that module is called, upgrade your ships,

>alcohol was surely used for medical purposes
irrelevant. When people use the term drug, they mean illicit drugs or pharmaceutical drugs, ie pills, not alcohol, even though it technically it is a drug too.

>define an incredibly broad term that even the FDA and courts have trouble defining so I can prove you wrong
nah

>page 10
>>
>>159988464
Alcohol is a drug my man. Drug is something you use for medical purposes and has varying definitions depending on where you live.
Everyone knows what you meant.
>>
>>159988562
yeah, all I'm saying is the 'substance abuser' trait wouldn't mean alcoholic, it would mean drug abuser. So the scientist is probably shooting up novocaine rather than getting drunk

By definition alcohol abuse is a form of drug abuse. It could be any of a number of things and it's not wrong to use alcohol as an example of one.
