You're technically even 5 gold positive with 2 wins and there is not the 1 win reward but since 0 wins is 1 pack, I'm guessing they give you at least like 20 gold so even if you go 0-5 you're only 50 gold negative and if you go 1-4 you're only slightly negative, while everything else is a win.

If you imagine a normal distribution, with each arena match as a 50/50 coin-flip, you can clearly see you'll profit over the long run. You're as likely to get 4 or 5 wins as you are to get 4 or 5 losses, but the winnings are much greater than the losses.
