Not really. The English version translates very well from the original and adapts anything that's difficult to translate very well.
Powered Up's localisation wasn't as good. It was pretty good compared to say, Mega Man 8, but not as good as MHX. It made some characterisation and dialogue changes for some characters but the rest was faithful.

Yeah, I was going to say playing GV2 has been incredible fun; the only problem I have with the game other than the waifu math that has a net 300% increase in lolis within the first 20 minutes of gameplay is that Copen is ludicrously more fun to play than GV. GV is still great fun, but Copen is head-and-shoulders more frantic and fast paced, which does wonders for the game's flow.

If you made enemies more aggressive giving GV a melee weapon to knock them back and get some breathing room would be helpful; balancing the need to tag enemies with the need to be able to fire the flashfield without getting hit.

Maybe even giving him full 8-way aiming with a button toggle (either to be used stationary or during running) could be helpful. That way you'd have a different playstyle out of GV where you get into the thick of things, tag everything you can and blow everything at once instead of bouncing between targets like Copen. A stun-baton could be a tool to give you an opening by knocking back mean enemies, or even just to open up enemies behind them to being tagged.

Not sure I dig that because it eats some of the design space of the actual flash field; Radial knockback would also make it harder to tag nearby enemies; I proposed a melee weapon because it allows you to, albeit with great risk, precisely reposition one or a few enemies close together.

Might be silly, but maybe it would be better to reverse incentives for GV; Copen gets bonuses for bouncing from enemy to enemy, why don't we buff the flashfield on the ground with a "grounded" bonus? It changes game flow from "tag everything, jump and flashfield" to "tag everything and find a safe spot to flashfield". You could still use the flashfield in the air to hover and often you might need to, but this change in structure might make GV more distinctive.
