Doesn't help vs the matches you're advantaged in and doesn't help vs aggro, so what does it help against besides hard control, that of which there is very little of.

If you don't have Merlins, don't play dshift. The engine is ridiculously important to that deck.

Find a spellcraft aggro list or a PtP variant and run that until you have Merlins. The dshift deck is just way too inconsistent without them.

No, absolutely not. I made a big post on the pros/cons of Lilith vs Charmer many threads back, but the tl;dr is this;

-They both do the same face damage
-They both accomplish nothing if they're killed the turn after they're played
-Lilith will do 1 damage to you for each attack she gets to make, which may never happen
-Charmer will do 2 damage to you for dying, which will always happen, and sometimes before she even gets to attack

They're the same threat, but Charmer gives your opponent 2 free points of reach on you - this can be a really big deal against any other fast deck. Losing Lilith to Barrage sucks, sure; but at least in my experience, losing Lilith to Barrage sucks a whole lot less than losing Charmer to the wide variety of things that can deal 2 damage to it.

Haven's definitely the one that gets more hate, even among a lot of people that acknowledge Forest as the better deck.

Haven's got the perfect design to be hated. It has a low entry barrier so you see a metric fuckton of it climbing, every build plays a largely solitaire game so you spend a lot of turns waiting to see their play only to watch them drop amulets and pass, they have stall mechanics built into them so even games where you're winning by a landslide tack on extra minutes, and unlike Forest which is very consistent and makes it obvious what the game state is, Haven is filled with good stuff that creates swingy games where you feel bad about winning since they missed Elana, or bad about losing because they top decked Themis or Garuda.

Maybe I am just a salty haven main, but people have been giving haven shit since it was Satan Haven back before DE. I play all of these off and on, and I have to say Storm Haven has a lot more to fuck up than those other two. I win so many mirrors because people don't know how to stagger amulets or the blow their aria's into my priest of the cudgel on turn 4 when they go first. Sure, its not PtP or D-shift level complicated, but I think it takes more thought than people credit.

And the decks it will be doing that against are typically control decks that want a longer game or if it just opens the fucking nuts. Storm Haven can rush down or it can play a slower grind game depending on the matchup. This is how midrange decks typically operate. If you blow someone out like that with any midrange deck it's typically because they had nothing to stop you with in the first place.

While it's a very helpful card if you drop it turn 1, most decks do better just managing their shadow generation while dropping a Skull Beast turn 1 instead.

Mainly because good management of shadows obsoletes Burial Grounds and the card is a dead draw in the late game when you don't have anymore shadow troubles.

However, in this current Haven meta, Shadow needs ways to guarantee shadows so it's not a bad tech choice considering the meta.

I have and run all 3 decks and Storm Haven is the easiest one. Let me explain myself here first.

Banner Sword and Aggro Blood are simple face decks, that's a fact, but it's because they're simple face decks that I think they're harder than Storm Haven. Several of your match ups require understanding the opposite deck and optimizing your damage, or figuring out when to trade. Blood has several damage combos you need to know going in and has to worry about over extension and removal, while Banner runs several cards that make you take a tempo hit or immediate damage loss for consistency or advantage. Ultimately, you want to go for face constantly, but in actual play you need to make a lot of decisions on how to spend your resources to do that properly.

What makes Storm Haven a much easier deck for me is that it simplifies the decision. Going to your example, failing to drop Aria on turn 2 when you have it is almost always a misplay. If you pass the turn or play inefficiently because you're afraid of a Cudgel blow out, you're giving up your tempo advantage and putting yourself at a 2 evo disadvantage the entire game since you're usually forced to respond to their Aria on your first evo instead of the other way around. Priest of the Cudgel simplifies your match ups significantly because he gives you removal without a significant hit to momentum or damage, your high quality creatures give you more reach than similar decks, and the nature of your cards protects you from the common aggro play mistakes. You have a huge margin of error playing Storm compared to other aggro decks which can lose the game as early as turn 3 if they fail to answer a Spartoi Soldier or open poorly into a Barrage.

Storm Haven is by far and away the most auto-pilot deck I have played in this game.

I have no problem with the fact that Burial Grounds is a card in your deck that doesn't have immediate impact.

My problem with Burial Grounds is that Howl only spawns 4 ghosts, and I might lose skeletons on Chimera during the game.

I agree that aria should be dropped turn 2. you just don't pop it as itself turn 4 going first unless you can garuntee you get a good stick otherwise odds are that priest gets two good trades plus a removal. you want that tiger to be a fat 6/6 from my experience or to get a solid chance at a hit, especially if you have the pupper on the wings. Playing efficiently is bad, which is why I argue forcing a turn 5 priest leaving your stuff on board is better than them getting a priest turn 4 and having their amulets pop so they are free to drop dance of death and shit.

Just from my experience at A3. I still feel like it has more options than either of the other two decks, especially blood.

I was skeptical of this deck since it has no removal including Tsubaki but it's actually pretty good. I realized how having Courageous Knight is actually pretty useful if you go first since you can actually play a useful card on curve without it being White General. More control decks should run 2x Mirage Defender and 2x Floral because of this, especially since Floral is pretty useless when you have no evolve points later in the game.
