The anime is a pretty good adaptation if you don't really wanna bother with the VN. First you don't have to withstand Hinoue's crappy art - and that would be a big plus for me honestly - and then Kyoani did a nice job overall, especially with After Story if my memory doesn't betray me.

Just bear in mind that the anime follows one route romantically speaking, and throws in the main portions of the other heroines routes sans romance in the first season. There is an OVA for both Tomoyo's and Kyou's route though, both were kinda nice.

Kirikiri stores files in .xp3. Just open crass gui and plug in the location for data.xp3 and off it goes. It's probably kirikiri if it uses xp3. Though newer forms of Kirikiri have more heavy encryption.
