Blinks and recall don't just mean you can get to flank positions and sustain yourself. You're the only hero that has the option to completely ignore corner breaching and chokepoint spam. Blinks defeat the idea you have to get to a flank position at all. You can go from standing next to your Ana in the back to enemy Zenyatta's face and 1 clip him in 0.5 seconds, and then disappear. The advantage of this method is that you can spend 100% of your time putting out damage, spending as little time as possible to get into position. Many people playing Tracer don't utilize this- they simply use Tracer's superior dueling capability and escapes to overcome their shooting and positioning inabilities. Tracer's potential isn't limited to just "being a nuisance". She's a killing machine.

The difficulties of Tracer comes to facing against defenses that take up and stay on the high ground, where her counterpart, Genji(and soon, Sombra) don't give a shit. You can learn the maps and make blink jumps when you can, but that's never going to make that difficulty to go away. If the defense is consistently using the high ground well, there might be nothing you can do as Tracer.

she's currently going to be the highest effective dps offense hero, when you average her damage over effective ranges and factor in things like reloading. ex: She can kill a Winston and then a Lucio both before reloading, something only Reaper can do currently, but she does it with more range and in less time.

With the high flexibility of her kit she'll probably be a permanent fixture as one of the two DPS slots for a long, long time.

McCree is picked for his hitscan accuracy function. McCree isn't picked for his damage output. Okay, let's assume you jump into competitive on Defense and your team picks Genji, Hanzo, Widow, Torb and Symmetra.

That's a pretty shitty combo, but what are you bringing to the team with a Mercy? Your rez is redundant with Symmetra. Torb, Sym, Widow and Hanzo have some of the lowest deaths per game, they also die close to each other, lowering Rez's value even more.

What's your plans for healing them? Symmetra can self-sustain with her shields. Torb rarely takes damage himself unless forced into a team fight. Widow and Hanzo will be in odd spots, with you having to ping pong between them, and if those two are being damaged, you'll definitely be damaged as you fly in the open. Genji will be too far up for you to support him.

So, in summary, the only value you could bring to the team is if you pocketed whichever of the two snipers that would take more damage. Even then, it would leave your team without a tank.

The best solution is either Ana or Roadhog. Roadhog doubles down on the area denial and gives you self sustain. Ana can heal everyone and including the Genji from safety, and she can nanoboost Molten Core Torb for emergency tank.
