Thrall axe moveset is shit. Quickstep is it's only upside, and Bandit Knife is so much better at that. The rolling attack with daggers is the perfect punishment tool after a quickstep, and the bleed buildup is pretty nice too.

No bias at all. I wanted to love DaS2. I pre-ordered, had it day one, was hyped by the network test, etc. DaS2 just turned out to be garbage.

I started a test on the day of the banwave on 3 family share accounts to see whether a hypothesis I had about how they've been sniffing out CE users was true or not, and today I have my results

First one, I made a new character while completely offline and spawned my self a whole character's worth of gear (including +2 rings)

second one, I made a character while online, made sure the character was sent to the server, then went totally offline and CE'd the same items as the first one, then reconnected and had my data sent to the server

Third one, I made the character online, and did the CE stuff online, same items

Results:

1st account: No warning, No ban
2nd account: No warning, Ban
3rd account: No warning, Ban

So I can reasonably conclude that the deciding factor in whether you get caught for item swaps is whether the server has seen that character before and has a previous copy to compare against. There are still unknowns involved (how does the server reconcile the discrepancy between previous data and new data if say, for example, you've been playing offline due to network outage or something and progress through the game and then suddenly resync with the server and now you have a ton of shit that you didn't have before?) but I think it's safe to say that you shouldn't be itemswapping if your character has been online before.

Does freezing the number of items/souls you have get you banned? Instead of duping, just get one or more of the items, freeze, then use/spend it as much as you want.

Its not about reacting to the move, its about memorizing their whole moveset and recognizing if they're doing the windup for the attack that swings right away, or the one with a weird looking hitch in the animation that is only there to be a "gotcha" if you aren't familiar with all their attacks.

I'm convinced that From don't actually play their own games. It's impressive that they're able to produce such otherwise awesome games, but it's equally amazing how much they drop the ball on such obvious things.

It's obvious no one there likes to PvP/coop, or play the games into NG+ and beyond, because those things are the driving force behind the game's replayability. What happened to awesome mechanics like Gravelord/rat covenant? Black phantom enemies/NPCs? Fucking world and character tendency were amazing concepts with poor execution, but they never brought it back. Why aren't there leaderboards? Why are covenants so shallow?

DkS3 was the chance they had to address all these things but instead we got more cycle bullshit lore, linear level design, and the most simple, hand-holding game in the series. Not to mention the R1-R1 roll-catch R1 lmao caestus parry simpleton PvP.

My strategy in invasions is to just poke everyone down with Gargoyle Flame Spear, keep making them use estus without taking damage in return. I have a pocket Follower's Sabre but I barely use it unless they're turtling behind a shield. I menuswap to Estoc against other meta players.[/spoilers]

The only times this doesn't work is when the host decides to roll around forever and summon phantoms repeatedly. Which doesn't happen that often, surprisingly. And even when it does it's funny to kill the same phantom over and over, even if I die in the end.
