That's a great plan! But from my own experience it always goes something like this;

Fucking shit Christ on a cracker how do I make the Flare Gun work. I can only hit the full damage sweet spot in test mode, and if I knockdown beforehand to make distancing easier the damage is pointlessly small anyway.

If you want to win in FA online, use a permaflight latona build with dual saplas and a laser rifle + assault rifle.

The ONLY way to hit someone reliably in FA is 1 of 3 scenarios:
>Fire at them with a super high Muzzle velocity at close range (MV is 4-5x higher than their range)
>Fire at them while they're sitting still for >1 second
>Fire at them while they are moving toward you for >1 second

So the best way to play is to spam high MV rifles and sniper rifles in close range for chip damage, then punish HARD when they move toward you or you caught them out of EN or not paying attention to you.

Any shots fired in any other circumstances will miss.

So with the above build, you basically spam your rifles to keep an AP lead while kiting from above, and when they rush at you you quick draw a sapla and punish them to oblivion.

There are more advanced techniques, like QB chaining and using your OB/QB to accelerate your round velocity to make them hit more frequently. You can also use missile spam (high act missiles + vertical shoulders are a good combo) or abuse framelag. You can also joust, using OB with large missiles. But honestly, you won't need any of these tactics because most other players aren't that good anymore, since everyone's out of practice.
