Regardless, this shit isn't even symmetrical and covers half her face. The scaling filter only makes it worse, it becomes totally unreadable.

When you look at just the raw pixels, it's better, but still just strange how they smeared it over like that. Here's my two minute attempt at making something slightly less horrible. BE is ugly as fuck, and not just the artstyle.

You could've done edgarmeta anytime without it, carrie is a near perfect substitute.

She can bring the chain up to 3.7x (as opposed to edgar's 4x) and is literally free.

Lightning is a poor unit for edgarmeta because she's meant to be a chain builder. Her attacks are small in multiplier but high in count. If you bring a friend Lightning and know when to activate the other units attacks to bridge their crushing blows, you can effectively make it work though.

At 35 MAG for the sword, Ingus's TM breaks even for 6* exdeath over MAG+30%. So it'd need more than that for you to even consider it.

There's Ashe too, I guess, but she's got the same MAG as Tree. Trance Terra is the only other serious option, and she'd need a sword with 47 MAG just to have it be as good as a MAG+30% accessory.

If I had to point out one thing that Vayne did completely wrong, it was deciding to activate the Bahamut and go for an all-out war of domination at the very moment that he should have de-escalated and turned to negotiations.

Vayne should have left the Bahamut wherever he found it (or brought it back for homeland defense at best) and begun seeking terms of peace and independence with Dalmasca, claiming that the destruction of the Sun-Cryst was, in fact, his one true goal all along (true for Venat and Dr. Cidolfus) and allowed Larsa to establish a cessation of hostilities. The people of Dalmasca would still hold grudges, but they wouldn't have the position to engage in any retaliation as Archades had already established itself as sufficiently powerful. Even if they did, perhaps bring out the Bahamut and fight defensively rather than seeking brutal extermination.

I pulled an Arc and Exdeath in today's pulls (no Refia sadly).

Should I bother leveling Arc or sticking with Exdeath for the eventual 6*?

No, the wiki is right about arc being good. Not even hyperdrive can outdamage a dual -aga without weakness, and Arc has very similar MAG. Kefka ends up dealing a slightly smaller amount of damage that you'd neve be able to see, but it isn't AoE and it can't hit weakness when weakness does exist.

They should probably be tied, still, but it's the wiki so you can't expect such things.

The real answer is bring a friend kefka with enough MAG to oneshot every mob with thundara. You'll likely need an ether/tent at the halfway point, but there's zero risk here. You can even macro this so it's not so tedious.

I got lucky and got Zidane on the first daily pull when they made that special banner.

That said, DW gets easier as more units get released later on. In the JP version, I got Gilgamesh's TM, Abel's DW dagger, Camille's Water DW sword for swords and my 4th DW TM is a Zidane in the works, while I could theoretically start another Abel TM (although that's kinda pointless at this point).
