It's a bonus dungeon, you save every 10 floors after a boss (with superbosses on 100 floors). The difficulty is entirely independent of the main game, the floors are randomized, and can be redone.

More or less each set of 50ish floors has about the same difficulty, and it's separate from the game difficulty.

You can farm it as much as you want, including the superbosses.

That is to say 1-49, 51-99, etc have about the same difficulty within each block of 50. Once you get to 101 and 151+, enemies start having up to 700+ Agility regularly, for example, and I would broadly assume most of their other stats are in similar ranges.

The really strong items come from the superbosses and bonus chest after said superbosses, with a few strung about random floor chests at 101+ or so.

So did anyone try quest failed chapter one? If so did anyone find a leak to it?

Just blew through paradox part 1, good stuff. I kept telling myself I would take a break but I couldn't put the game down until I had finished it. If you lose to the final boss do you irreversibly lose or something? I noticed that it doesn't let you save in the final part.

Was running Minstrel Illias(she is useless in combat when SP runs out so I did a job change near the end of the game), Makina Master Nuruko, Overpowering Fist Rumi, Power Fighter Gnome as backup if somebody went down, Black Marketeer Don Dahli for utility/last resort party swap, Lime for thief stuff, and nobody really in the last slot.

Rumi is an great fighter with a lot of versatility and amazing counter and crit rates, and Nuruko has amazing damage output. Honestly I thought Gnome had disappointing damage output. Illias was pretty useful during the beginning of the game as a hunter/bowmaster but near the end she was doing chump change for damage and even her SP moves were disappointing. Wasn't sure what to do with her and I didn't want to get rid of her since I didn't know how I would replace her so I just made her a minstrel to compliment her angel healing stuff.

But in comparison to others her magic stat is pretty mediocre. Do you mean that I'm supposed to spam holy with her or that her job is supposed to be magician or something like that? I found all of the game to be pretty easy, but that was on normal difficulty. Though difficulty settings in RPGs seem pointless when the strength of your party is determined on levels which can be obtained through just grinding.

I don't recall if you have to beat the optional Alice and Reaper superbosses to open the Labyrinth of Chaos, but the difficulty for those 2 fights scales with your game difficulty, so it isn't too bad.

Difficulty in the Labyrinth scales up by floor. Over 100 or so, regular encounters should be at or above Paradox difficulty. Around 150 or 200, they'll start getting really ridiculous with normal encounters having enemies with stats in the 600s and 700s. You're really not intended to go above 200 since there's no checkpoint to resume at 201.

As for the not-currently-canon superbosses... mama spank, mama spank hard.

In MGQ (not Paradox) part 1, and maybe part 2, enemies would only use certain attacks on Hard, meaning you could only get certain achievements and fill the monsterpedia by playing on hard.

I am unaware of any such issues with Paradox on Hard. That said, Hard is probably about what you should start Paradox on so it provides at least a little challenge.

DON'T start Paradox on Paradox, that's a New Game+ difficulty. You'd spend literally a dozen hours of grinding and reloading your save JUST to get past the slime village prologue if your first run was on Paradox. Basically just keep resetting til you luck out with like 5% dodge rate 2-3x per fight to win fights. No fun at all.

To put in context, Lucifina is the tankiest superboss, though only about 3rd or 4th most likely to outright kill your party.

Minimum stats are around 560k hp, 50-75% damage resistance to most elements, permanent reflection of all reflectable magic.

She will periodically use Daystar to become immune for a turn, then counterattack anyone who attacked her for several thousands of Holy damage. And she will periodically use Ninefold Rakshasa which attacks 9 random targets for about 4k or so physical damage per hit.

And she's only the 3rd or so most likely to kill you.

Labyrinth Alice... well everything she does is pretty much in one-shot range of your entire party every turn. She also does a mass-Bind, which is one of the few statuses almost no one has an immunity against.
And Monster Lord's Cruelty will now hit your entire party for about 4k Dark damage 4 times in a row. Unlike Ninefold Rakshasa which I believe can be dodged, Dark/Holy skills aren't dodgeable. Did I mention that she'll spam it with as few as 2 or maybe even just 1 free turn between? Because she'll do that.

And then there's Labyrinth Reaper, who really isn't that special or different from her first version. Except the part where she can now use Nero's Time Stop. This is not a resistable status effect, you simply just lose 3 turns of actions during which she can spam anything she wants, including a mass-dispel of your party into then killing your party. It is 100% RNG as to when she uses this and as to what she uses during her free turns.

Basically, most superboss fights are just cheesing by stacking tons of layers of damage immunity (Vicarious Clara, a Necromancer skill), and then planning how you will stagger turns refreshing said buff so the superboss' Dispel ability doesn't screw you. And then praying that Stop Time doesn't involve a Dispel turn, and that Alice doesn't Dispel into Monster Lord's Cruelty.

Yes, Reaper should have the option, and it should be translated.

You will restart at the beginning with only Luka in your party (but everyone you recruited stays recruited, except Alice/Ilias).

Your inventory, levels, job/race levels, etc all carry over. Lucia/Lily carries over (and the 2nd can be recruited with different choices, allowing you to have both).

You will re-choose between Alice and Ilias. They also retain all their exp and such, should you choose one you previously recruited.

You will likely only find Paradox and Hell difficulty challenging on a NG+. Since difficulty is just a flat modifier to enemy HP and Damage, even the entire first half of the game is pretty much a joke for lv30 characters. You can pretty much beat Paradox Morrigan while naked on raw stats.

Probably for the safest team to try, you'll want:
- Naho, Vitae, Honeypot
- Any Minor Chaos for the 4th really, but Hild is the best

- All of them need to have Vicarious Clara from Necromancer, Skill Use:Summoning from Spiritualist(?), and Geyser from Adventurer
- All of them also need Slime races mastered for Slime Division (reduce stats to make a clone for 3 turns, the clone lets them act twice per turn)
- All of them need the Endure passive (Battlemaster?)

- Hild (or any Minor Chaos with Doll race) should have Skull Use: Singing and Daisy Bell (element boosting), though Naho/Vitae can also cover this
- Hild should also have a Singing or Dancing ability that restores HP

With all that in place...
Turn 1: Hild uses HP song, other 3 use Clara
If the boss would one-shot your party, Endure will prevent it. But, at 1 HP, Clara would fail. Songs have a higher speed priority, so Hild's song will always go before your party (but typically NOT the boss, you WANT the boss to go first), letting your 3 Slimes get a Clara in

Depending on whether or not the boss has multi-hit moves (Alice in particular), the 3 slime hybrids (Honeypot should be a Mimic btw) should:
- Refresh Division every 3 turns
- Cast Clara EVERY turn with 1 action (unless Division fell off, or the superboss Dispelled your party)
- Cast Geyser, or use other SP restoring items or skills, or cast Carbuncle if relevant, Daisy Bell if needed, etc with their 2nd action each turn

This strategy is not fool-proof against Lucifina, Alice, or Reaper or some other really unlucky occurrences, but will typically work up to and on Lucifina without fail.

Each turn, your Slimes take 1 action + Clara. Hild does whatever, if she's alive. I recommend having her alternate Clara and whatever you need like Daisy Bell, Carbuncle for free turns vs some bosses, using SP restore items on others, curing the stray burn/paralyze, etc.

If Alice... really, just go back to your floor 91 save and re-run to floor 100. Her loot sucks. (+50% Dark damage book instead of the +30% she dropped before.)
If you insist on fighting her, get a 2nd Clara in before casting Division. Same goes for whenever she Dispels, wait for 1 more turn of Clara before Division.
If she Dispels into Monster Lord's Cruelty the next turn, you lose, simple as that. You need 2 turns of prep to stop Monster Lord's Cruelty, it is not survivable elsewise.
If Alice had a decent loot item, sure, might be worth the struggle. But she doesn't.

This is unwise for the Clara spam strategy.

If the boss goes after you, and then casts Dispel, she will almost certainly out-speed you and one-shot everyone the next turn when you don't have any protection. By always going 2nd, you will always get 1 turn of action after the Dispel.

This is why the slimes are casting Clara every turn with 1 of their 2 actions. They still get 2 actions on the Dispel turn (so it doesn't matter if Clara was chosen 1st or 2nd), so even when the Dispel goes off, they'll always have 3 layers for the next turn, allowing them to Divide and resume as normal. This is the key of what makes the strategy mostly fool-proof.

The alternate strategy involves having farmed 4 Crisis Hairpins, and is exploiting the mis-coded item. 2 is enough for most superbosses though.

I wouldn't do this until you struggled through a few 40min Lucifina bloodbaths to get the real experience. But then, once you've cleared them the "legitimate" way with Clara abuse, feel free to move on to Hairpin abuse.

Crisis Hairpin applies 1 turn of Daystar to you when below 20% HP, and refreshes every other turn.

By staggering out 2 Hairpin users (ie 1 starts the battle below 20%, then the other uses a self-destruct and Goddess Revival to come back below 20%), the superbosses' primarily party-wide attacks will all be countered with Daystar. One Daystar will protect your entire party from a party-wide attack.

This includes the dispel. Basically the Hairpins make it so you can just stack 2 or 3 sets of Clara unopposed, and outright skip most of the boss turns. You're then free to beat them down however, really. Only Reaper's Time Stop will prevent Daystar... and even THEN, if you have layers of Clara up, and she doesn't Dispel, you'd still survive.

For the Hairpin cheese:

How do stats in paradox work specifically?
Do all playable characters have the same base stats with modifiers applied depending on their race? or does every specific character have their own base stats?

I wish I had more insight on this, because I would love to have a rapier user in my team, and even with the supposedly optimized race and class to use rapiers they are several leagues weaker than my magic users and mechanics.

No, more main story characters have higher base stats. Though the difference is ultimately inconsequential compared to stats from gear.

During the main story, it's really unlikely anyone will keep up with Luka and Ilias as far as general nuking.

In part 1, Geyser's always-hit, physical+magical nature, benefit from attack modifiers, and decent base element will eventually leave it above most other damage sources.

Holy nukes, for example, are very strong during the main story because stuff doesn't have that much HP. But if you wanted to speed clear the Labyrinth of Chaos, your current best choice is typically Sara and Queen Noah using the 7SP Ruling nuke (and Luka's Hero nukes), because it benefits from modifiers because it is physical, whereas magic like Holy nukes do not. So Holy nukes never get much stronger than the main story...

By modifiers, I mean effects like Doll Slayer and Chimera Slayer, as well as weapon elements. Attacks with multiple elements use the best element for their damage output.

Well, seems the power failure of the building last week turned my system dead man walking. A bit of useful info, amid my doom and gloom. You can force the game clock to update immediately, by setting the seconds to 59. So if you're very fast, you can literally get all 24 hours in as many minutes.
