Hey i just got HOI4 for 4 dollarydoos. Whats a decent nation to start with? Italy seems kinda cool. Seems weird to me that china/PRC have no unique focus though considering their civil war and war with japan basically starts WW2...

Sots2 wasn't unfinished, it was a disaster and it really still is. Early access games are mostly alphas this days, no shit they are worse. Stellaris on release hardly qualified for beta status. Even something as basic and necessary as expansion planner was missing. Sector AI was retarded as balls. Ship balance was nowheere to be seen. Half the fucking ship AI modules didn't work period. You may think this is a complete game, I certainly do not.

The thing that really pisses me off about sword of the stars 2 was how easy it would be to fix. They ironed out (most of) the bugs over time and they added a lot of the shit they intended to, but their arrogance convinced them the mission system was perfect and needed no fucking changes when it was the cancer that killed the game. Even if there were no bugs or missing features at all, the game is made literally unplayable by the mission system taking control of your ships out of your hands.

There's decisions to pick which world you'll be part of. There's some requirements to join and leave them but they're all about government types, parties in power and relations with the US/USSR. They don't really do much though.

Ok, I want to mod EU4 as heavily as possible, but I have no idea how my changes would impact gameplay because I don't enjoy gsg enough to play it more than occasionally.. any EU4 enthusiasts (is such a thing even possible) want to r8 my ideas?

Does anyone play hoi IV anymore? I bought stellaris at launch and learned I shouldn't do that for paradox games. Guess what I'm asking is is it good now/Was it ever bad/will it ever be good?

The Europa timeline got old for me and any mods that take you past the ww1 era just had terribly unrealistic combat and strategies for the era, and it really makes me want to upgrade games.

New in the sense I haven't moved on from Eu4 yet. I've got 1416 hours in it.

I own ck2 with a significantly lower 40 hours in it, so I don't have it mastered quite yet. The best I've done would probably be conquering most of Scandinavia as a pagan, or possibly very basic Spanish reconquista. Gameplay in the hre or France seems intimidating to me still.

Older games trade is no doubt superior. even just messing with the trade in V2 is fun. Play Korea, max tariffs, then try to buy something and slide it all the way up to 2000. You cant buy it because youre fucking Korea, but the price skyrockets. I like sliders except for how if you have a ton of cash and armies you would just go bankrupt if you are a smaller nation. Has to begin from the start of the game. Dont build a military, lower the tax as far as you can, and let your population grow. Once you hit max pop turn it back up, or increase as you need it. Build military when you find hostiles, paying off 1-2 pirates is better long term. They can bring goods you need too.

After a while youll stop wanting all the land because ts annoying to deal with alot. Then youll want good borders, and eventually just a thriving area you live in. Trade companies are the 2nd and 3rd option. Lots of cash to supply that nice border country you have. Its also fun to mess with things without letting people yell at you for stuff.
