You R1 and then you move forward a tick and do the first R1 again. It's the thing GS users do or the thing Halberd users used to do when they had HA, where they'd R1 then move forward and do the R1 again until they caught you and could go into the wombo combo.

Like... instead of R1 R1 you R1 then step forward *just enough* so you can repeat the same, first R1 again. Does that make sense? Like if you ever used a dagger 2 handed like a corvian GK it'd make sense because the first R1 is a poke and you can stagger R1's by going R1, move forward a bit, R1, etc to keep doing the stab motion over and over again (which is thrust damage too) instead of going into the slashes.

No problem, glad I could help. The drang thing got me interested in making webms again, I had forgotten how useful it is for showing people shit.

I honestly believe Drang Hammers + WA shield (BK Shield being the best I believe) could seriously be a thing now, even with no buff in that first pic I was laying down 842 damage with +10 refined 40/40, quality build. With dark resin you get over 1k usually off of a single combo, it's pretty neat now that they buffed the attack speed and distance which makes it all possible. Too bad they don't get HA like other 2H hammers because they're paired but the attack speed and reach buff should be more than enough to make them at least playable if not just downright good.

Was watching the match I recorded again and noticed this part. Do you see what I mean /dsg/? One of the main downfalls of the drangs was their lack of reach and slow attack speed. Now that it's a lot faster and you take a big fuck-off step forward with the swing, you can actually out-space people with them. All you have to do is land the R1 and it's a guaranteed stagger into the L2 R2 weapon art.

Gonna be playtesting these for a few days, very interesting I think.

Main point was to show how much ground the R1 covers, and the attack speed, but meh.

I'll keep testing them out, initial testing has been great so far. I want to try taking them to the next level potentially by trying to use the Mace with them and the BK Shield. I feel like if they had HA they'd be amazing so I was thinking you could use the Mace (which looks similar to the drangs when 1H which is also really nice) to do perseverance when you get close enough, and then immediately swap to the drangs and wombo combo on them.

It's more like two sets actually, Havel's and Smough's, and Havel's has more anyway for barely any more weight over Smough so you might as well use that. Individual Catarina/Gundyr/Winged Knight pieces might also be useful if you really want to minmax with Wolf Ring+2 but the whole sets won't grant you as much as those two by a decent gap. Even full Havel's only gets you 50 poise still though and with Wolf Ring+2s diminishing returns at higher poise it's the only way to go to gain say the full value of Greatsword poise.

This is one of the biggest problems with the poise system as is imo, the heaviest heavy armor is the only one that can benefit from the system as is while poise values across the board are still too low or incoherent at times for sets (See the poise Cornyx's set gives you and compare it to most medium armors for example).

You get your shackle if the host dies OR like 2 or 3 phantoms die (forget how many). So basically you can either start attacking reds and hope the host sees you as cool, or you can start attacking the host and hope the reds see you as cool. The wild card thing mostly comes from how you don't really care who dies as long as one of those two things are met, so purples can all of a sudden "switch sides" if anyone is low health.

It's one of the most overt thing carried over from 2 and it went from being overpowered to entirely useless, almost like saying everything from 2 is shit and a mistake.

It really confuses me when developers add useless shit like that to their games.

Also purples fill up their own slot, so if you help a red like you should you can 2v2 a host and phantom that didn't use dried finger. I've met some nice purples in my time. I think it's worth being a red-aligned purple just because fuck the unbalanced invasion system, plus you get covenant items too if that's your thing.

Pyro is fun and I was able to do all of the dlc at 20 + 2 but in pvp crossbow literally destroys any caster I went back to my str twink for pvp.

This is low levels of course so cant' really get silly pyro numbers in the 20's also onyx blade investment this early just isn't worth it, decent dmg but someone can just run heavy vigor with a cathedral knight GS (my main) and just shit all over you with mega poise.

Removing Power Stancing was a fucking mistake
The characters were forgettable

The mechanics and flow of combat was fine, equal to that of DaS2.

Level design was gud.

Overall though Dark Souls 3 was a step back from what Dark Souls 2 brought us and that's a shame since Miyazaki was apparently making it his final Souls game.

If you want team battle invasions you gotta do pontiff because of the aldrich covenant. That's what the entire bloodshades thing was formed around in the first place: get people to coordinate and hold back until the numbers were even vs. a gank BEFORE heading in, instead of just rushing in 1v3 or 1v4 which is usually suicide at SL120-140 unless you're one shotting everyone with hornet ripostes or winblade wombo combos.

Powerstancing was a mistake.
Almost every "good" Powerstance was either a glitch or "readjusted" into uselessness. Outside of the brokenly good stances, it was almost never more efficient in terms of stamina usage and damage to Powerstance instead of just two-handing. Additionally, it made you spend twice as many upgrade materials in a game with a system explicitly designed to punish you for collecting and spending excess souls.

In a technical sense, DaS3 was a step back in terms of the engine. Many of the things people complained were "left out" from DaS2 are missing largely because From made the decision to use the modified DeS engine again after it was upgraded for Bloodborne rather than upgrade the engine they made for DaS2.

Many of the small quality of life improvements DaS2 introduced, regardless of all its faults, seemingly went with that engine.

Are people really struggling this much against pyro builds? They've always been pretty good as pure spellcasters, but they aren't that hard to beat.

In ~20 rounds of 2v2 and 3v3 just now I saw different peoeple:
- turn on infinite iframes (blatant, wasn't just lag)
- cast pyro spells in a bullshit way (everything was fire surge animation)
- instakill the entire enemy team with lightning

Really? I love the Catacombs. Feels like a wacky skeleton maze and the layout is pretty fun. I also think the enemies are really balanced and enjoyable to fight.

I hate Smouldering Lake though. Giant crossbow, fire crabs, another demon fight, those pyromancer things in the tunnels that have hyper armor, and the lava items you need lots of fire resist to grab. Feels tedious, like a big hassle.

Even though DaS2 was kind of 'meh' in quality, it at least kind of tried to do its own thing. It did reused the old lord souls in new bodies, but i actually liked the crown thing they did with all the dlc and they didn't reuse gwyn for the last boss that time. It was similar, yet different. Focusing on Dark instead of Fire.

Dark souls 3 just feels like a super late DLC for dark souls 1. IMO of course. It's okay.
