Really? I like the way it looks personally, to each their own I guess. I don't even 2H it, it just happens to be the highest damage long reach spear in the game (literally more physical damage than a lothric knight long spear 40/40, not including lightning damage or the WA buff too), which comes with an extremely valuable R2 (which is a halberd-like horizontal slash) and actually useful WA (almost all spears have shitty charge WA's that are complete garbage).

I like to go for hornet shieldpoke backstabs a lot so I needed the highest damage spear I could get, it just so happened that I got a lot of other bonuses on top of that as well. The R1's on the DSSS reach just as far as a lothric knight long spear, it's dumb but I love it.

It's not about getting the poise is that apparently they buffed the attack of hammers so the R1 is faster and you take a good step forward when swinging, allowing you to apparently out-space the longest GS in the game as shown in that pic.

I find DeS quite similar to DaS1. If you liked DaS1 movement and DaS2 branching paths you might like DeS. BB is very different from the rest of the series except maybe for DaS3 which feels like a discount BB at times. If you can find a PS3 for cheap it's worth it.

can someone summarize the big changes in pvp from the point they patched the Darkmoon on consoles so it would work, til now?

i understand pvp isnt supposed to be "fair" but it feels like shit at this point.

i went to do other things around the time they fucked with how fast you could parry.
but i liked parrying quickly because it was a nice Natural counter to R1 Spammers. But now thats gone and spamming is hyper effective because its not easily punishable.

My halberds feel like shit, my greatswords feel weak, and my ultra greatswords are getting stunlocked mid swing.

AOE stun from hammers is as horrible as ever, Phantom ranges are still garbage, and now they added more weapons that do great damage with tons of combos and range...........................

Basic changes are that halberds are now incredibly mediocre unless you're using Red Hilted or have 50+ poise, greatswords are even greater then they already are, ultras are still shit save for Yhorm's and maybe the Great Club and Hammers basically being more cost efficient versions of Great Hammers now for far more practicality.

Basically don't even bother with Ultra Greatswords as most of them, just use Yhorm's as that's the best ultra weapon by far.

Yhorm's and FUGS are the only viable heavy ultras now because of range. All other heavy ultras get outranged by smaller weapons (r1 with a mace and see how much you walk forward while attacking, this is also range) and need a ton of vit investment to have enough armor to win HA against greatswords, but they can't have that because they weight too much.

That's why Zwei and AGS are kings now, because they are light and allow for poise stacking.

Super heavy things with no range like most greathammers are just bad, worse version of hammers.

Thanks, I couldn't help it, seemed too obvious not to do as soon as I learned of the javelin's existence. It's actually not even bad in all honesty, especially with an OP axe (originally DSA but now millwood) when hosts turn out to be dicks with the ganking (my version of the twinblades people use when they get ganked). Javelin scales really really well with a strength build, the normal attacks are slower and have less reach but still work just fine with proper spacing, though I mainly do running R1's with it. It's basically a throwable strength katana imo.

Fast rolling and obscuring ring are so fun too for fucking with people, sometimes especially if a gank is unwinnable I like to just run away into mobs forever and chuck spears. I plan on suicide running to get the millwood greatbow too as an alternative to javelin throwing (I'll menu swap it).

Great Hammers are theoretically alright for ultras due to being single stat compared to most ultras in scaling and having the lowest poise requirements to tank through things like greatswords and other ultras. But the problem is the basic R1s of Great Hammers have no forward momentum and a terrible angle that basically demands anyone be right in front of you and not rolling to hit so you'll still get outscpaed by a good greatsword. The Great Club is still the only decent one of them because of its R2s and low weight.

Eh, honestly I just don't see it being worth the 2 points I'd need to move into dex. Especially at SL56 I haven't had any issues with shields, I don't think I've ever seen a havel's GS and anything else I can just guardbreak pretty easily with just millwood (originally DSA) axe attacks and maybe a kick. I'm very good at spacing and staggered R1's and roll catches.
