I haven't touched this game in a long while. I used to main TR on Emerald and was with AODR but i've been since kicked for inactivity. I'm a CQB medic / engineer / HA / Vehicle gunner main and I'm not that great but I do have voidwell stats if you need them. Is this game worth coming back to?

No sane person cheats on their main account with so much stuff to lose, including items which simply cannot be purchased back like special event goodies. Just because the game is f2p doesn't mean people with established accounts cheat more. If you cheat in CS:GO, the worst that's going to happen is that you're out of $15. If you cheat in Planetside 2, all of your characters and what you've earned on them is gone. That's a hell of an incentive for established players not to cheat, and even if DBG went soft on cheaters that pay a lot, they wouldn't do it out of fear in the first place, unless this was explicitly communicated to them (which, let's be honest, it's not)

In fact, I'd argue the few high-profile cheaters harm the game more, monetarily seen, than they contribute to it, simply by contributing to the frustration and cynicism of the community as a whole. Thus, DBG has no incentive to keep them around. If you think the money a few individuals spend on a game is going to keep a studio open, then you're dead wrong.

Heavy assault needs to be revamped. The shield they get needs to change. Imagine the heavy with an aegis shield instead of all over shield.
Only affects the front, ineffective against explosives - but has a higher tolerance to damage than the current version (something like 750 shield value instead of 500?). Doesn't slow down the heavy, doesn't protect from the back. As well as this, having the shield up consumes much less than currently, something like half the current drain rate perhaps. Bullet damage still reduces the potential time limit as per usual.
Adrenaline shield has the same aegis shield, but also recharges via kills as normal.
This means that flanking a heavy assault actually has purpose, like the tip on the loading screen suggests.
They can keep the LMG's as they are, the fact that Orion no longer has .75ADS means I've got no gripes with that any more.

Medic is fine as it is. Yes medic has the best gun class (AR) but giving the AR to either LA or engineer would make them both too strong. LA would have mobility+best gun class, engineer would have infinite ammo+BGC.
Thus, no real change is necessary for medic, IMO. Their healing ability doesn't outpace any serious incoming damage and rezzing people means changing from your primary OR giving up offensive grenades (and even then, its only a weak rez).

Engineer is fine. Yes they have infinite ammo, and they can rep turrets/vehicles, but they also have only a mediocre gun class. The choice between AI, AV or spitfire turrets is fine. Perhaps an AA flak turret akin to the AI/AV would be good? Make it 1000c or whatever DBC and it fits in like the rest. Low damage to infantry/lightly armoured vehicles, no damage to tanks. Would make for another, small stop gap without needing to pull a 450n MAX unit.

Light assault is fine. Carbines suit them best. Their mobility is their whole selling point. Can't see any issue with them.

Infil needs a serious rework. Continued in next post.

Very situational. Any good infil knows how to avoid getting shot in the head at that close a range with that, and good luck noticing an infil at the right range for a blackhand AND getting the headshot.

What needs to be changed is that if you're going to allow snipers to cloak, they NEED to be unable to cloak & fire before 0.5 - 1s after uncloaking. Cloaking still needs to be in the game in some aspect, but allowing for a player to cloak, move into position, aim and then uncloak in the same moment that they fire is seriously bullshit and unfair to other players.
If its going to be 0.5s, the infil needs to be unable to carry a sniper AND cloak. Instead, force them to use an SMG or the other rifle thing they can carry.
If its going to be 1s, let them keep their sniper.

This means that snipers can still snipe, but will have to think about how they're going to do it. At the same time, the infiltrators who ACTUALLY infiltrate can still do their stick, getting up close and actually using the cloak to its proper effect. Who the fuck needs a cloak to snipe anyway? Nobody but crutching shitters.


So yeah, that's the changes I'd make. I thought I might come out with something for LA/Medic/Engie, but thinking about it, they're pretty solid for what they are. The big issue is HA and Infiltrators.

This makes assault class players actually busting down doors and assaulting, medic players can use normal rifles to good effect, support can be ungimped and actually suppress or bloody well kill without dying every 5 seconds and snipers will be faggots no matter what.

Heavies having a shield is part of what makes them heavy though. Changing that shield from a 360* to 100* shield would fix that.
I say 100* rather than 180 because you don't want to cover their entire front and some of the side, you just want to cover the front and then a little - so if you flank them, they're as weak as everyone else.
Also, do remember that the medic's AR is better than LMG in everything outside of ammo count per magazine.

Though your open field comment does make me want to say this; I do wish there was "bases" which were just open fields, with plentiful cortium to gather in the vicinity, so player made bases could have more importance. Or hell, if the flag point itself was a silo, but it has a much lower cortium cap than usual, so making it into an impenetrable base was much harder than usual.
On top of that, the lattice would have to allow for a way around the base entirely, but it would make for some interesting fights.
Or hell, allow those certain flags to be captured by vehicles, so tank v tank could be a thing in those base areas.

Cheaters are a massive problem in this game and daybreak needs to do more to cut down on the high profile ones regardless of whether they pay money. Kill all their connected accounts at the same time. Really fuck them over.

If you let cheating continue without even token resistance against it, pretty soon it becomes prolific. A lot of cheaters need to be reminded from time to time that they won't get away with it. These people don't stop playing, they just stop cheating instead; until they think they can get away with it again.

Anyone attempting to create an account who was previously banned for cheating should also get hit with a reactivation fee just to start a new account. Detecting cheaters and banning them can be a business model.

Fly low, avoid air (ecept you have engies on board), and don't attack shit you can't kill. I mostly go for lower armored targets, like Infantry, Harassers, maybe Lightnings. Just sneak up, fish yourself a target, kill it, and seek cover again. Rinse and repeat. For this valks are really good. If you wanna go for heavy armored targets, you'd rather need support on the rumble seats.
