Good armor should and does feel like you're wearing almost nothing period end of story. If you're able to operate effectively in full steel you should be able to move and perform just as well if you're not wearing your fucking helmet. Getting adjusted to wearing armor doesn't increase it's fucking 'defense rating' that's just not how it works.

This is drastically different than weapons, which are designed each with a unique combat role in mind.

The exception would obviously be rigid reinforce armors like jousting armor, but those are for fucking sport, you're typical cavalry unit didn't wear that gear in the field.

Christ go outside and join a HEMA group or something. Maybe a few concussions will clear your head.

First, Dark Souls very clearly has Light/Medium/Heavy Armor classes. Anything without poise or with negligable poise (sub 20 poise, i.e. DaS1 Warrior's set) is Light Armor, armor sets that provide a meager amount of poise (40~ poise, i.e. EK's) is Medium Armor, and armor sets that provide a substantial amount of poise (70+, i.e. Smough's) is Heavy Armor. It doesn't label them, and the Dark Souls concept of Heavy Armor is a far cry from Skyrim's Heavy Armor, but you can very clearly tell what weight class each set is in.

Second, Dark Souls doesn't have an "Armor" stat. Equip Burden applies to all equipment, not just armor. Someone can still be slowed by using a giant hammer in one hand and a giant shield in another, even if they're only wearing a dress. So how does Dark Souls have the right idea when it doesn't even have what you're talking about?

Third, this greatly reduces Bethesda's (or in the end, modders') potential ability to diversify armor abilities based on their clearly intended weight class. What kind of abilities even apply to all armors, anyway? Do training in one armor type apply to all other armor types? Is an Imperial soldier who has fought all their life in mass produced munitions grade gear going to completely understand how to move around in a suit of armor the moment he puts some on? Would a knight who has never faced real battle outside of a tin can feel the same security in only a gambeson? After all the mental gymnastics eventually tie up the character plotholes, was it worth merging the skills into one unified skill when they coexist just fine?

I hope you wrote this post for the sole purpose of serving as argument practice for others, because it's a bit too easy to tear up.

The beauty of Dark Souls is that you can wear robes plus heavy boots and gauntlets and it's viable. In Skyrim you can't, rather if you do leveling up is very tedious. RPing as a Vigilant is a no go. You're right that there's a vast difference in DS armors, but the whole point is that it's determined by stats alone.

I use both but only warmaidens and TCM not the all in one Bijin. Load total makeover then overwrite with Bijin. The idea is that the women who benefit from Bijin will actually do so and all the leftovers and all the males will look a bit better with TCM. At least, that's my theory. What body shape mods work on SSE?

I don't like the UNP body renewal thing on the new nexus. She's strong due to old UNP textures, which was the goal but her body itself is...not so great. Because she is max weight her arms swing out like a bro puffing his chest at a frat party, she looks WAY too small for an Orc lady, the boobs are wonky and her nipples stick out of several of the more low cut vanilla armor, etc. Do I have any options right now for SSE and female bodies?

Tip for female orcs. They use male animations by default (hence gorilla arms) but you can easily switch them to female animations using SSEedit to modify the Orc Race entry. Just change DefaultMale.hkx to DefaultFemale.hkx under the entry for female animations. I personally do so by modifying the entry in the mod Imperious since that's the mod I'm using that has all my race changes.

Yeah, that's it. I'd personally recommend making the change in USSEP or some other mod rather than directly in Update.esm so you aren't changing the official game files. Impossible. There are plenty of performance ENBs so there are no excuses not to use one. In fact, with ENBoost, it only IMPROVES performance.

I was running a vibrant fantasy ENB on a stock i7 920 and GTX 285 (no overclocking), with ambient occlusion, DOF, some AA, and a bunch of mods, including hi-res models/textures for characters, clothing/armor, and monsters, Realistic water with parallax, and default high textures (non-DLC).

Skyrim is not a game where you need 120 FPS just to play. You can't even really do anything except mash buttons and drink potions during combat, unless you're a stealth archer where you don't even have to worry about combat, so you don't need to worry about not being able to react fast. It's really slow paced for an action game. So 17 to 25 FPS is more than enough, the choppiness just makes it feel more like classic cinematic PC cutscenes or N64 graphics. And if you really want that 30-40 fps, just turn off ambient occlusion and DOF.

And that was over 3 years ago. Performance patches and ENB optimization have greatly improved. There's absolutely no reason not to use enb, even if you don't care about the graphic improvements.
