I really, really, really just need to fucking vent. Because Steam is so fucking racist and misogynist, and Valve seems to refuse to want to get up off their lazy asses and fix it.
I'm a huge fan (Or rather I used to be a huge fan) of the Total War franchise, but one of the biggest gripes I've been having with the newer games is how whitewashed and streamlined everything's become. This really starts to show up after Shogun 2, and is a big reason why I'm not planning on bothering with future games . This is especially bad in Rome 2. Egyptians are Arabian looking even though Egyptians at that time period would've still looked ethnically "Black". Rome is 100% white for some reason. It's really, really embarrassing. So, thankfully, I've been able to find a few mods that corrected that:

after securing my ass by taking out skarsnik i had grudges out the ass for most of my run from pretty much anywhere, but so long as you can capture black crag and get a foothold there to allow working towards 8 peaks you can eventually start dealing with them without the massive upkeep increase because without it being removed its really hard to get a second army going so that you can actually do something about them

As far as I can tell they are the best infantry in the game, they aren't even as expensive as some of the other factions elite units.
You need elite of the elite cavalry to put them down, and even then it needs to be on a wide open field with no distractions between the charge and impact.

Utilize Rangers and go down the red tree for Belegar. Even without the yellow tree he rapes most heroes/lords 1v1. And he and his ghostly friends can tank groups who you can mow down with ranged/arty without much fear of messing your own guys up.

Dont got anyting solid yet for Grom, getting the smoke bom is great though, that + the leadership charge debuff makes units rout so fast.

Just going to add something. The increased reliance on Foederati came from necessity not from intent.
This was largely a result of civil wars taking their toll on experienced man-power among Romans and provincials. The late-Roman army functioned perfectly under Constantine and his heirs and even the Valentinian dynasty had a good military record. Gratian was in fact that last one to march his army across the Rhine and rekt the Alamani in their homes.
The problem arose when Theodosius annihilated most the Western Army at the Battle of the Frigidus. Since he died shortly thereafter the West was basically left with no experienced army of his own. Stilicho could rely on the Eastern Army for a while since it was at the time of Theodosius' death in Milan. But the Eastern Court soon started to demand that he hand over their armies back to them. While he tried to raise new Roman troops he had no other choice but to rely on Foederati.
Also things were made worse for the West as time went on due to weak emperors and constant usurpers burning valuable manpower in their conflicts.

Hardly anybody wanted to be a soldier in late-anitquity.
There were quite a number laws passed by the emperors dealing with the issue of draft dodgers.
I mean people rather chopped off their thumbs than serving in the military. Valentinian had to pass a law concerning these guys that said that cripples should still be drafted although two of them are worthy of one non-cripple. Since they couldn't fight they could at least be used for hard labor.

Gotrek is the greatest Dwarf ever to exist. The only thing that's actually able to kill him is Grimnir himself, the Dwarfen God of War. Choas Knights ate my first stack with their charge (suprise underway interception) and I'm too scared to send my other stacks in.
