More than 6 characters was already to big a cast since they chose to focus on Ragna and Ragna alone. That is why I preferred CT. The cat might have been small, but while Ragna was indeed the bloodedge, the focus was spread out on everyone. Only character that seemed to get shafted was Tager.
You could literally have 40-50 characters in the game and it would still work. You would just have to revamp the story and shift away the focus from the main plot.

Played against a pretty good Mai player. She has really good normals with nice cross up potential and big hitboxes. She has pretty good damage too. The pressure may be pretty good but I need more experience before deciding.

Rachel and Raquel probably aren't quite the same anyway. Raquel has a crazy high Life Force Value, but it's still a solid number. If you have a number to your value, no matter how high, it basically means you're mortal. Once it hits 0, you're dead.

Rachel's Life Force Value is 0 to begin with, and no matter how many times she's killed, she can't actually die. The only way to truly kill her is with Immortal Breaker. So there's clearly a difference between them.

Jin is S tier. it's not even worth debating, he's amazing at everything. Fenrich won Arc Revo because he's a really good player, and because Jin is S tier, Nine does not compare to Jin.

Arakune with curse is the scariest character in the entire game, and can gain curse with one combo, He can do 6k resets and his damage is...fucking dumb, and can chip out low chars by using most of his resources, a sort of "yolo" that has no counter.

Nine is like CP 1.1 Azrael on steroids

Jin is not S-tier. He's great obviously, but comparing him to Rachel, Carl, or Izayoi is dumb as shit. It's not worth debating because claiming such is idiotic. Fenrich won because his character is strong and he's a great player, but that does not make Jin S-tier.

Arakune with Curse is the scariest character, but that doesn't mean much when he loses hard in neutral. Being able to gain curse off one combo is strong, but it gets severely overblown by people who don't actually watch match footage. He can't immediately convert off all air normals, which is a bigger thing than you would think, hence why he has to play keepaway and dump clouds everywhere.

He is not S-tier by any means. Initially he had a really high presence because he's fucking Arakune and you have to learn a ton of shit to be able to block him at all, especially when a new game comes out. Now however, he's not as frequent at all. Again, putting him on the same level as the aforementioned characters means ignoring his flaws. His matchups against certain top-tiers like Izanami and Rachel are pretty damn bad because they can deal with his mobility just fine.

In CP I didn't bother with player rooms. I was an arcade monster. Our connection worked just fine.

Now CPE... I skipped, so I can't comment on whether things were unstable then. But honestly, it's just one or two guys who have trouble connecting to my room. We just join someone else's and it works. As such, I have to blame the distance and their internet quality over the netcode I think. There's lag with one of them, but that's because he lives somewhere in Europe. I mean, he complains about the frame delay, but there's no major stuttering or anything. I've been playing against Mai all day. I think this character might actually be pretty good. Her normals are so good and she's already getting some nice meterless damage midscreen. She has very good defensive options. I think her super might be a better version of Hakumen's Yukikaze. And she has an invincible command backdash that will escape a lot of approaches.
