Alright so here are my plans for the near future. Now that conveyor belt construction has been reworked to be less shit I plan to solve the next few problems I identified with construction.

My goals are mainly to make moving around machines and crates less shit, also making cargo have some better version of MULEs

With that in mind I'm doing something similar to a port of https://github.com/Baystation12/Baystation12/pull/5753

I plan to create a type of object that can be dragged around which holds crates/lockers (still considering whether or not a single one can hold multiple crates at a time) like the ones seen in that PR. That can be hooked together and dragged by the cargo train vehicle, or dragged individually by a single person. It is going to have an optional final construction step which lets you install access electronics which let you choose who can move crates on/off of it and lock/unlock it.

Now the reason I haven't put it to code is I have yet to decide several things about the design of this concept, such as

The fourth one is because Celt at the time was spamming his new system PR after refusing to fix the bugs he had with planes. And I don't recall the conversation we had about it but it wasn't very pleasant so when I closed his second opening of this same PR I told him he was shit.

The bugfixes PR had a comment on the change itself and was left up for an entire day which is standard for bugfixes PRs. Neither is there any requirement against self merging bugfix PRs. Though in retrospect the change had some issues with it I hadn't considered initially.
