I used to think so since I loved the feed them meat then beat them to death system but the scout system isn't so bad after about 30 hours of continuous scouting.

105 hours clocked in on dqm teriwan now and I've absolutely run out of things to do. Why is the postgame so small?

The joker games make monster teams more balanced thanks to stat caps. Other than that and the scouting system it's pretty much the same

Just finished DQ Builder... I would have never thought a minecraft rip off could be this fucking fun.
Also I never played a DQ game before this one, and now I want to play them all. It's that good

It's more of a mix of the two since they brought back monster meat in proper. There's a cap on how much you can feed them now sadly, but the sirloin equivalent makes scouting tons easier. Overall I'd say it's an improvement, but only because of quality of life updates making the difficulty of the main story a JOKE should you decide to play smart and get some relatively decent monsters. Or a team of properly trained metal slimes.

I have an ultimate digster that I bred for his sudden black fog, but I don't know who I want to partner with him. Was thinking of replacing it with an equinox like every competitive jap but I don't want to sell out just yet.

Since I'm focusing on black fog, my team would preferably be slashers/boxingjiujitsu users but nobody I want really fits the bill looks/stats wise. Was thinking of adding Veera and Rugius just for their tactical trooper and dust of the family, then making a diamond slime my scapegoat so I can launch 3-5 attack moves per turn but I have no idea if that'd be effective enough vs someone else with a scapegoat. Hopefully it shreds up non-scapegoaters though.

Does anyone playing teriwan even care about masters GP

The lack of online monster breeding makes me sad though because I'd love to be allowed to breed monsters with people just to save on time with making a diamond slime, and to get that damned gem slime I need to get into the last old gate.

I don't think there's any requirement to compete in masters GP, just get your ass in the online wifi mode and compete. Doing so refreshes your wifi shop anyway so you should be going in regularly.

Masters GP can get really freaking hard. Your entire team needs to be ultimate breds, and have properly calibrated skillsets and ai. Being at the stat cap for every monster in your team is the least you should have. Even then you can easily get your ass kicked. I've been getting destroyed left and right but my knowledge of team compositions is somewhat improving.

Challenger's GP ruleset changes every time and it's always in japanese so it's untranslatable.

Today I was placed in 36th place or something, but I'm definitely going to rank down since I lost 2 matches today. My Gadis/zoma combo got wrecked by black fog and in another match my gadis went full retard against a bouncer and killed himself like a fucking retard. Plus other than disruptive wave, they have no answer to scapegoats. I wanted to change up my team tonight but doing the planning process all by myself feels like astronomical work. I wish I could read jap teriwan forums for some team comp tips since they've had this game for 4 years already.

You get special gifts if you connect to the wifi and do a 1v1 gift battle at certain locations in japan. They pretty much don't apply to us gaijin. Example is you can get a guaranteed purple ninja slime if you connect to some mcdonalds nintendo zone. I think that's what they mean by special gifts.

Speaking of purple ninja slime, I've been looking for that one in the 1v1 gift battles and I think I've obtained pretty much every monster in the 1v1 except for the ninja slimes.

How's Builders by the way? I like Dragon Quest 1 and thought the demo was pretty cute, but $60's kind of a lot right now since I'm about to move.

I heard that somebody was translating the DQM transfer app somewhere on the internet, and making it compatible with the US and EUR versions of Joker 2.
