I'm an Elite player and have a passing interest in SC at most, so I'll tell you this: At least they are trying to create a fun game with SC.
Elite's development is ruled by grind and design decisions that hipster forum dads vote on.

Where do capital ships like this dock? I don't think they will even fit at Olisar. Starfarer just fits iirc and that is like 60 meters shorter.

The idea of landing pads in space makes no sense anyways; long docking poles do, because there's no weight or direction. Maybe it will dock on long spines

They might make more changes to them when they get into mucking with combat balance but right now this is how the ships are;

Sabre has two S3 pylons so it can only equip normal S2 double racks (or s1 quad racks) instead of that special triple rack shit.

Freelancer now only has a s3 pylon and a s4 plyon on each wing instead of 6 pylons on each wing, so you can carry the same number of missiles it originally had, but no more of that 'base freelancers carrying 30+ missiles, invalidating the whole point of the MIS', bullshit.

The 350r seems to have lost it's pylon mounts completely, the other 300ships had their pylons moved down next to the landing gear and use normal sized racks instead of that giant talon thing now.

The Avenger has S2 pylons which means under the new system it can only two S1 missiles or one S2 missile per wing.

Sadly, it was doomed to get nerfed when people started calling it the best starter ship in the game. And I assume they wanted more loadout differences between it and the 325a. On the plus side it has a crazy fast afterburner now so it can run down any ship out of cruise besides the racers.

Probably the Python. Only medium sized so it can land everywhere, but also quite a lot of cargo space and it can dish out enough damage that most will think twice about attacking you (and the NPC which is not smart enough just goes up in flames right away).

Only thing bothering me a bit at the moment is the size of the fuel tank. If I do long range hauling missions with >110 LY distance and full cargo I cannot do it on a single tank but have to hang around in some sun's corona for a bit to scoop. Which gets really fucking annoying when the NPC decides to interdict you at that moment. Considering to throw the fuel scoop out and just jam a second tank in there instead, should be enough to jump to my destination without stops and I don't do exploration in the Python anyway.

Quantum drive is not jumping (which is from system to system).

Not that I'm sure which if any a snub can even do.
>>
>>158383091
Last thread there was some ramble about whether or not the devs said that "all fighter will be capable of equiping JumpDrive" (from system to system) not to confuse with "Quantum-Drive" (the warp within a system you can do in a PU)

The developers didn't exclude the possibility of ship who can't jump at all, but all fighters and starter ship will likely be upgradable to be able to do so (with a shitty range).
That way the devs wouldn't have to make a ferry-ship mechanic and every players can go everywhere with a small ship.

>>158383152

I don't understand what you mean.
The P-52 and P-72 are both snubfighter, they can't operate without a carrier-ship.

The Constellation only have module that allow to fit one or others (like the X85). We don't know for the rest of the ship but we assume we will eventually have more ship that can carry snub fighter

>>
>>158385453
and what about weapons you mount on ships, will they be permanent after launch? I know that right know they are not because of stat balancing.
and what will be the difference between UEC and REC? first will be used for buying "real" stuff and other one for stuff in simualtors?
>>
>>158385762
I'd assume so because everything else is permanent ie the ships you buy
REC is for arena commander and star marine. Remember that both of those are actually electronic simulations, a game within a game; in the early star citizen alpha you had to access it through your computer battlestation in the hangar.

You rent ships and equipment right now with Rental Credits (REC) you earn in Arena Commander. Can't use REC bought ships in the PU, but can use them in AC. You can use REC bought equipment in the PU.

You can earn aUEC (Alpha United Earth Credits) in the PU right now. Can only use aUEC to buy cloths, personal weapons, and bypass ship respawn timers. Will eventually expand to ship stuff, soon(tm). aUEC will get reset with patches along with stuff you bought with it. Don't get attached to this and things you bought with it.

Release of SC will see the use of plain UEC instead of aUEC. You will buy everything from ships, handguns, ammo, medical supplies, cargo, insurance, and more with UEC at release. Don't use UEC right now. Purchases are permanent, and stats are in flux; so the weapon that is hot shit today can be hot garbage tomorrow. You will be able to purchase UEC with real money in packs from CIG. Rumor has it they will also be selling ship packages for real money beyond release as well. The projected cost for most low end ships will be in the hundreds of thousands UEC and millions for ships like the Polaris.

There are going to be several types of insurance. Hull, module, and cargo. Hull insurance will only cover the ship as it was sold, any upgrades and cargo wont be covered. Cargo and module should self explanatory. Cargo covers what is in your hold. Module covers your non-stock upgrades. Insurance will take money to upkeep and has been stated to be a fairly insignificant cost compared to the ship you are flying.

I know it's hard but remember a few things :
1) They are testing stuff, it's shouldn't be surprising it pass by extreme
2) It concern ALL SHIP, the M50 will still obviously be the fastest of all
3) The M50 is a racer so it's not necessarily a good interceptor.
4) you might actually love the change, you'll get to look at ship

Thinking about it, we don't necessarily need a ship made for that, from what the devs said it should be possible to chose subsystem so it emphasize speed rather than armor/efficiency.
Hypothetically

There are no legs.

Well elite has always had legs in that you can see your players model sitting in the chair but you can't get up and walk around yet.

They added ship-launched fighter bays, passenger/taxi/prisoner transporting stuff, some more thargoid shenanigans, module storage, and hiring ship movers to tow your ships to your current station. Those are the big additions.

Unless CIG started eating paint chips it must have some way of getting boarders from the ship to the target quickly

Maybe a belly bay door that opens up as it flies by and some kind of catapult to launch boarders onto the target

>>
>>158400324
Actually a properly balanced stealth taxi could bring a new edge. But I doubt anybody will agree on the sacrifice needed for that. (for example it being a taxi cab)

An invisible ship.... that can't fire any gun. or can't move fast. or is 100% visible from one direction. or can't stay invisible for a long duration, or can be seen with powerful sensor.
All these would require very very careful consideration but would give the possibility for gameplay that are currently inaccessible.

Then even if you do there will always be players who absolutely won't want boarder they can't intercept using their preferred gameplay.

I would post a picture of my Prowler design but it's invisible.

Even guardians is a case of 1 step forward 2 steps back.

They added passenger missions, which while VISIONED are decent supplemental income for explorers. However you have to have standing with a faction just to be a fucking taxi service so as usual you have to do bullshit you might not want to do just to get to the shit you don't want to do less, until you can finally do what you want to do.

Also there's no reason to not go for the highest quality passenger cabin unless you're using really small ships.

Basically passengers sound really cool, but as usual they implemented it in the worst way they possibly could because they're allergic to fun and allowing the player to play how they want in a sandbox.

Not the guy you responded to, but if you decide to stick around in these generals, I may contribute my Endeavor to help your cause when the ship is finished. Despite having an Endeavor, I hope that there are ships dedicated to farming, and transporting farmed goods in a preservative way. Regardless, I'm looking forward to farming quite a bit too.

I'd be surprised if Chris kept it at a small mini-game -- it's bound to be expanded upon; it will just be simple at first, like everything they build out.

I'm that farmer and I gladly take your help. The Endeavor while big and shiny doesn't fully address the potential of farming in a harsh weather. It is necessary that aside the "farm dome" there is another superdome (replacing the entire middle superstructure) that allow to also simulate planetary weather.
The Endeavor head-ship also need to be redesigned to be able to do areal topdressing by default (it's necessary of any science/exploration ship anyway)

To help you can also start petitioning for the addition of a combine-harvester to be carried by ship

Aside, the transportation of fresh goods is likely to be impeded by other many unnecessary complexity. CIG should simplify the flight model so cargo can load and transport more efficiently our goods.

They really fucked over new players with the recent update. If you already had something in the 9 figures range the nerf wasn't too bad, you had enough cash to just switch over to the next FotM money maker.
New players are fucked and doomed to do rare trading for even longer now because everything that is currently more efficient requires the larger ships.
>>
>>158453912
Yeah, that is the main problem. Unless you are sitting on one of the current insane money makers the cost for getting the ship brought to you is higher than what you could have earned in the time it would have taken you to fetch the ship manually.

Also, I think the passenger liners, and luxury cabins are going to be a meme. Based on what I've seen the overall pay doesn't scale adequately to make them worth it. Especially considering you have to grind standing just for the privilege of carrying these guys.

We're once again in the situation where anaconda is the best ship. You can stick a couple first class cabins on her, transport pretty much anyone worthwhile, and have double the jump range of a beluga or orca so you get places quicker.

The best overall pay I've seen is 60 mil, and that's for a 30,000 LY trip.
If you're an explorer, sure take a bunch of these missions and go on your two week trip and come back to an extra hundred mil+. If not, bulk trading still seems to be the way now that sothis/ceos gives a pittance for the time investment.
>>
>>158456209

>The Endeavor while big and shiny doesn't fully address the potential of farming in a harsh weather. It is necessary that aside the "farm dome" there is another superdome (replacing the entire middle superstructure) that allow to also simulate planetary weather.
The Endeavor head-ship also need to be redesigned to be able to do areal topdressing by default (it's necessary of any science/exploration ship anyway).

And this is precisely why I tell people that having the farming mechanics being made (and mostly understood) through several iterations is a good thing before CIG gets started on the Endeavor. Otherwise, CIG would inevitably waste too much time reiterating the Endeavor every time they realized they didn't have the foresight for certain farming (or any other mechanic the Endeavor has) conditions.

I'm pretty happy the Endeavor will be made much later.
>>
>>158458081
saw a bunch of VIP missions that had a payout of ~7 million for 80 LY
no idea if they pop up frequently enough to justify getting one of the dedicated passenger ships though

also I think they made a mistake when they made both currently released passenger ships so fucking expensive. for me it is pocket change, but for someone who hasn't been grinding the old money making schemes this shit will be unattainable for quite a while. they definitely should have added something in the 1-10 million range, too
>>
>>158458306
The dolphin went somewhere.
They really need to make economy missions populate for people with no standing so they can be a viable way to grind standing.
And bulk economy missions so I can feel like a jumbo jet in my anaconda.
>>
>>158458412
yeah, I think the dolphin was supposed to be the entry level passenger hauler. they just didn't release him in this update, which was a pretty stupid decision if you ask me.
if passenger hauling only really becomes available through dedicated ships so late into the game, everyone will have already picked a different profession by the time they reach it.

also not particularly a fan of their decision to kill off hauling and data missions for that very same reason. it is pretty obvious that they did it so people actually give a shit about the passengers rather than just sticking to what they did, but they also killed it off for short range missions which just means that everyone not loaded has an even harder time to make it out of the beginner stages

and no matter how often they state
>just play the game rather than grinding :^)
it won't change the fact that the game is simply more enjoyable in the more expensive ships
>>
>>158458656
It's not so much about it being more enjoyable in the more expensive ships as it is needing the more expensive ships to compete, especially fully A ranked after engineers.

And the other problem is that bulk trading is the most mindnumbingly boring activity in the game but it remains cr/min the fastest way to make money once you graduate from rare trading.
It's disgusting to think that in the time it takes me to complete one nerfed round trip from sothis in my anaconda I can make 10 times that minimum just bulk trading in my cutter.
>>
>>158458656
>it won't change the fact that the game is simply more enjoyable in the more expensive ships

It's gonna be lame when the same happens in SC because everyone can just use NPC crew
>>
>>158458971
Hopefully Chris will adequately balance NPC crews so dads can't just robocrew their fleets.
>>
>>158458917
I feel like dedicated trader ships should have access to more advanced auto pilots to remove the mind numbing aspect of flying the same 10 minutes route over and over again and instead have some advanced access to trading data and so on during the flight so they have something to do.
Would turn it more into a spreadsheet game than a space simulator, but it's not like bulk trading is actually enjoyable right now or requires a lot of interesting user input.
>>
>>158459164
There need to be more specific ship role bonuses overall.

>Trading ships have trade computers that provide greater access to detailed trade data and special cargo holds that reduce the effect of cargo mass on jump range

>Exploration ships have improved scanners that boost the range and speed at which they can scan bodies, and a passive fuel scoop that slowly but constantly replenishes fuel.

>Combat ships have improved hull integrity and reinforced modules

>Jack of all trades ships have no specific bonuses.
>>
>>158459037

He wont, because having large amounts of NPCs means costing lots of UEC, and Chris Roberts wants to drive UEC sales in order to "pay for server costs", aka, make shit loads of money from microtransactions. There will be a cap, but it won't ever be high enough. Probably something like a cap of 50 dollars a week or some shit.

CIG is going to make the biggest microtransaction game in history.
>>
>>158459673
Agreed.
I mean, it's clear that they tried to do this via the different modules rather than any unique bonuses for the ship, but it is missing that special something that actually changes anything about the game play. The only difference when you jump from your Cobra MK III to the Type 6 for example is a more trade optimized distribution of the stats that were already available to you in the old ship. There is nothing really new that changes anything, you just do some things better than before and some things worse.
>>
>>158459961
The question is not what the real money cap is, the question is how much UEC will that buy and what is the value of UEC in game.

OK so what about a game

it's an MMO where you have a large mothership going around the universe doing shit and the players are dogfighters, mothership personnel, EVA, all that jazz BUT it's all narrated in real time by hired actors who play as GMs (captain, vice captain, other leading roles)

in the down times when you don't have a voice-acted GM on board the mothership the ship would be docked to a station or landed on a planet or something and the players would be expected to explore

when a GM is present the ship is off doing missions or exploring the galaxy and the players have to respond to all the things going on, meeting aliens and talking to aliens and also shooting aliens and tinkering with ship systems or going outside dogfighting or EVA fighting or even being beamed down to a planet to fight an alien with sticks and rocks, all depending on the context of the mission of the day

every day would be like a (probably pretty ad-lib) star trek episode and the players would be the redshirts

If Chris makes it too cheap to buy UEC in the game, the backers' heads will explode. There are already people with over 100k UEC in their accounts because they honestly believe it will be cheaper now than later. I hope Chris pulls a fast one on them.

As of now, the only sane usage of money for this game, besides buying the game package, is LTI ships. That's the only slight guarantee of getting "your money's worth", and even then, it's very small.

I really want UEC sales to go cheap later so that a riot is presented at Chris' doorstep. It will be the best shit to watch.
>>
>>158460403

Why is Zyloh such a nu-male faggot? That hair dye makes me think that him and that lesbian in Manchester would be a perfect match if Tyler cut off his dick and got a vagina instead.

>trade ships get access to special modules that allow an advanced auto pilot and better route planning and trade data access
>maybe some illegal aspect where you can build rep with the black market and then pay people there to try and steal some of the station's supplies for you

>exploration ships could get more advanced features for planets, getting special scanners that let you find PoI that, when visited with your ground vehicle, yield extra profit
>maybe also the ability to discover and bring back alien technology, i.e. advanced modules
>could go along with adding a player driven market to the stations where they can sell off those modules

>same for miners, they get special landing gear and drills that can let them harvest minerals from asteroids which are required by the engineers or for crafting - can sell them on the player driven market, too

>fighters I have no idea, something like power play but specifically for combat ships - or maybe missions where an NPC piloted trader ship can hire you as protection
>if you increase the revenue and thus possible profit from trading you could also let players offer these services through an additional mission terminal and they get automatically paid upon successful completion conditions (for example, player A offers protection, player B can then select the target station and if player A manages to protect him till he safely docked in that station he gets his payout)

You could do a lot of shit that would actually make the different jobs feel more unique and give people a motivation to play them rather than everyone flogging to the highest paying one.

The only downside of half of the things I mentioned would be that it's limited to a rather small part of space because there just aren't enough players to offer it on the retardillion stations in the bubble.

In elite's case it's because the dads have been brainwashed by their jobs to work long hours and believe the game should simulate this work.

In star citizen's case it's because they're in love with an idea and can't extrapolate how shitty said idea is by imagining user cases over hundreds of hours with said idea.

Slightly different for ED I would say.
They defend grind and repetitiveness because they want bragging right for both realism and they don't want to see their grind feel worthless

For SC it's entitlement and some sickening case of meritocrat. They believe they are superior because they can have more disposable income than other. Sunken cost fallacy. You shouldn't let those $500 you spent affect your decisions about the game in any way. The money is irrevocably lost unless there is a huge lawsuit that forces them to pay everything back.
Continuing to worry about it won't change anything about that and you definitely shouldn't sink more money into it just because you feel those $500 would be a wasted "investment" otherwise.

Just wait to see what the game ends up being lik in the end, you have no influence over it anyway.

>with ED it is the same in terms of retardation, you open the official forums and within the first minute you find some "the game SHOULD be more grindy and repetitive!" post

My theory is a combination of buyer's remorse, stockholm syndrome, and nostalgia.

They know the game is shitty, boring, repetitive, provides precisely zero interesting things to do, and is about as much of an MMO as checkers. They've spent so much time on it, and are so dead set in reliving their love of the game from the 80s/90s, that they've managed to convince themselves that it's actually a well designed game, that it's just too "niche," or only appeals to "a certain kind of gamer," or that "the grind is all in your head, it's really fun if you just ignore the only avenue of gameplay," all so that they don't have to admit that they've wasted time on garbage, based on the promise it becoming good some day, and that it has never and will never become good. Even a cursory glance at how hard every single one of FTroop's headline patch features have failed will tell you that the magic patch that will fix the game and make it actually fun to play is never coming.

Every new disappointing update comes out with nothing interesting to do, and they all gather round and rejoice, encouraging the developers to double down on their obviously terrible game design, so completely deluded by the above compound of issues that they actually believe they're helping to make their game better.

Patch by patch, the remaining players of ED dig their game's deeper.
>>

You're in here though.

>>
>>158466251
That's only the official forums though. The meme about over 30-year old forumdads who fly around in starter ships on weekends and try to sabotage all mid and late game advantage people who actually play the game could get is firmly grounded in reality.

Another great example of how big of a circlejerk and hugbox it is came just now when FD added launchable NPC fighters. You can only have 1 fighter in the air at any given time even though the hangar has space for 2 and you can hire up to 4 npcs crewmembers. Naturally people who wanted to play carrier bitch about it on the forums but all the forumdads are defending the shitty move with "ablooobloobloo it would break the game I don't want to fight against 2 fighters and a corvette/anaconda/cutter at the same time in my sidewinder".

Typical FD. They add a good game mechanic but gimp it for absolutely no reason so you can have a bit of fun but not too much.

>>158466930
yeah but I didn't think it was so severe. I thought it just had a bunch of old people playing it but not almost exclusively old people playing it
>>
>>158466976
>They add a good game mechanic but gimp it for absolutely no reason

That really is the main problem, isn't it?
A lot of the ideas are good in general but then they slap some retarded restriction on them or make them otherwise feel unsatisfying for no fucking reason at all.
>>
>>158466976
Now my dreams of mining and bounty hunting at the same time are dashed.
>>
>>158467289
>for no fucking reason at all

it's because their retarded forum users are a bunch of crusty old bong autists from a bygone era, and they work very hard to actively sabotage their own favorite game

FD then makes the mistake of assuming that their opinions represent "what the people want," and actually listen to them
>>
>>158466976
>"ablooobloobloo it would break the game I don't want to fight against 2 fighters and a corvette/anaconda/cutter at the same time in my sidewinder".

I will shoot them out of the sky in a single salvo anyway. The more relevant question is why I should do it, hardly worth the effort to kill their Cobra MK III.

On the topic of fighter bays though, did anyone try them out yet? Just having your mothership act as mobile hangar which gives you fire support with turrets sounds pretty neat but I don't wanna invest all that cash into finding out if it's even viable at all.

There's at least one planet we know of composed almost entirely of Diamond,
another that orbits so close to its sun that its surface is surface is covered entirely but boiling lava.

Another I read of is an odd middle between a gas giant and exoplanet where the atmophere is in a constant state of violent storm. The mass of that planet is almost entirely silica like earth, but unlike earth there's enough free energy in the atmosphere to melt and crystalize huge amounts of that silica. The result of all this is that on this planet it constantly rains glass sideways at about three three thousand miles an hour.

The Alpha Centauri system our closest is actually a Trinary star system. Alpha Centauri A and B are somewhat average stars, but they're locked in a mutual orbit around their common center of gravity. Orbiting around the pair is a third smaller star we call Proxima Centauri, Orbiting Proxima Centauri is a rocky Exoplanet that could almost certainly sustain human life.

Pic related is the blackest, most empty patch of the sky we could find, and most of those are galaxies not stars.

>>
>>158468101
>On the topic of fighter bays though, did anyone try them out yet?
On my cutter, yes. All it basically does is spawn a single CQC fighter that you can pilot yourself or get an NPC to fly for you while you fly your main ship. You can give the NPC simple orders like defend, stay, fire at will and return.

>Just having your mothership act as mobile hangar which gives you fire support with turrets sounds pretty neat but I don't wanna invest all that cash into finding out if it's even viable at all.
Basically when you jump out in a fighter an NPC takes over your main ship and flies it like NPC fly in the base game, so it doesn't just sit around.
The biggest problem is still that you can have only 1 fighter in the air. The biggest hangar has space for 2 fighter and can rebuild each fighter 15 times.

Again FD are fucking retarded for not letting people fly 2 NPC fighters at once. 1 Just feels like a giant cocktease and is basically useless.

Hey I'm making an OP image as I see lots of other fags try and fail because they cant into photoshop. The idea is that it's a big FAQ for things we get a lot here such as when is the next release, what is a dad, whats the best ship, how 2 make money, etc.

The vault bug is still present at the time of the video. They simply stopped the guy jumping in to space. It's still missing animations and doesn't drop to the ground over the wall.

The jump mechanic in Star Citizen is broken in an FPS that's been delayed almost 2 years, on a game engine that has working FPS mode out of the box since probably 10 years ago.

Makes you think.

They should call it hopesmashers or hypesmashers tbqh because every time I watch it, I realize how many simple things are broken and how far away this game is from seeing a release.

There's AAA game RELEASED out there with worse bug than that. Those AAA game took 5-12 years to be made and some of them were so unimaginative they are just visual improvement over the same engine of their last game.

It's extraordinary for Star Citizen to be already as playable despite being only 4 years in development and revolutionizing stuff every other studio couldn't be bothered with.
Look at Star Citizen "unified rig".

You need to prove which game were "in hiatus", how long and why SC wouldn't count despite it restarting from scratch when the budget and stretch goal increased.
New reminder that many continued license never truly leaved development. As soon as the last AAA is out, their engine were reused and improved to make the next, meaning they had none of all the trouble SC is facing.

Star Citizen is making technological breakthrough all the way and it would be perfectly normal for it to take 4 more year, yet it is already showing incredible stuff right now.
What it prove is that SC is living up to the hype, and relatively more competent than studios who take 6 years to make simplistic FPS.

I'm not saying it's gonna be a bad game and the tech they've shown so far is indeed cool. But there's just no proper gameplay yet and we have no idea how any of the major mechanics (cargo, mining, salvaging, exploration) are exactly going to work in the game apart from ancient design docs and how much work they've actually done so far. What they showed has been pretty disappointing actually (golf swing scanning).
Apart from that, the final game is never going to live up to the ridiculous expectations of the community.

No one here has implied they want a completed game in the alpha, just that there's hardly anything to play. They threw the AC module out so quickly it's still bugged, yet they've taken like 2 years working on an FPS and even vaulting is borked and they won't release it.

Why do they not give a shit about how bugged the ship flying is, yet they are so anal about how spess marine tacticool shit looks? Because they don't want to scare away CoD player or be a laughing stock.

As expected from any game in development. You can't create mission on planet before you have the means to create planet as you wish, the building and wreck to do the mission in, the enemy and their AI to fight, the vehicle to drive...etc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdCFTF8j7yI

And that's hardly the only feature CIG is making from scratch. There is just no magical shortcut. No other game have ever delivered as much during development than what SC plan to.
It would be stupid to criticize SC development rate despite them demonstrating every week how hard it is.
>>
>>158482803
I'm talking about weapon attachments I suppose, and the ships bounce around and clip and the hardpoints are messed up, and when you get too close to an object the framerate drops and is basically impossible to avoid crashing.

No one needs to vault in star marine, they could just disable the feature until it's fixed.

Star Marine is a rock and a hard place for them. Either they work on it and put in the effort while other shit gets delayed or they don't work on it and get shit from everyone that expects it. Star Marine has been mentioned many times as being nothing more than a test bed for FPS combat and it has become an expected game within a game now. So when they tried to sweep it under the rug, shit loads of "Star marine Cancelled??? Derek Smart was right!" popped up.

The Python was put in the roll it was made for now. Multi role and not roll everything. It still is strong but other ships have long overtaken it. New hotness for combat is the federal assault ship which has paper shields but a hull tanky enough with some armor upgrades you can ram corvettes into submission. Anaconda still eats ships up in combat assuming you can FA off your way though the fight and the Vulture is king of cheap hunting with it being nearly as maneuverable as an eagle and carrying 2 large hard points. Pulse-Pulse or Pulse-Burst being the most efficient loadout but beware power management in her. Honorable mention goes to the Fer De Lance which I can't stand not for how she controls, but for her lack of being able to do anything else but bounty hunt in a small area. I do like space drifting and the engine sounds and being the most powerful PvP ship with the right shield loadout but a jump range lower than an Anaconda is unacceptable. Shame since it is the sexiest ship in my opinion. 4 fixed med pulse and 1 huge PA or MC are class favorites.

Personally I like my FAS the most. Large ships never interested me and with 2 large and 2 medium hardpoints I can eat all smaller ships head to head and out maneuver the larger ones. A top boost of 400 means I can always outrun a CZ gangbang if I'm smart about it as well. It's like what I'm hoping the Cutlass will be in star citizen. I can carry a vehicle and a lot of combat upgrades so I can focus on fighting but also land on planets. If need be I can swap parts out as I go while still being more than combat capable.

go to proxima in elite and you'll see why that's a non-issue, it's disputed whether it even orbits alpha centauri or if it's just in the same neighbourhood, and we'll probably have to wait a couple of hundred years to get good data on that, see which direction it's really moving in

>>
>>158482564
A lot of the "I want my ship to feel like it has weight!" crowd likes it (the fact that most of the new testers came from recommendations from older testers probably did not help things) but most of the feedback posts I've seen lately have all been complaining about things being too slow. Hopefully the new streamlined poll will help get the people too lazy to write detail reports to vote too.

To be perfectly honest, I'm actually kind of okay with the Connie, Freelancer, and Retalialtor's speeds after the second pass. If they had increased *every* ship's speed by 40-50m/s when they increased those three, I probably would be perfectly fine with the current flight model.

Because its like that biggest kid in school scenario. It is so fuck huge and has so much power why do you need anything else in a 1v1 or 1v2 in PvE? Tank up, rip and tear, move onto the next target. Even in PvP if you hunt fresh commanders with nothing more than an ASP you'll out DPS them easily assuming they don't flee in time. It's not the best combat ship but it definitely holds its own by sheer force. At the amount of money one costs it fits the saying, "you get what you pay for".

Right now the best publicly known place to do it is Arietis Sector CQ-Y D60, planet B5, a station called Cochrane Works.

They'll give you a ton of federal skimmer missions that are located on the other side of the same planet. (Two or three places in fact) I only take the ones that lead to Kent's Inheritance, which spawns 4 skimmers and has no defenses. When you kill the 4 you just swap modes and kill another 4. When you finished up your contracts just crash into the ground to respawn at the base, collect your dosh, and do it all over again.

10's of millions of credits per hour, gain fed rank, i do it in a viper that costs 40,000 to rebuy so i don't unnecessarily cut into my profits.

You get access to the missions immediately too, no need to grind something else to get friendly/allied with the locals. The missions will just pay 100k-200k instead of 1m-2m when you get friendly/allied.

I'm not certain if that's the most efficient way to grind that planet but it's pretty damn quick for me.

Here's an image from the guy who found it.

It's not like sothis/ceos where it takes a long time to find juicy missions.

Frontier is effectively designing a themepark in the guise of a sandbox.
You can visit the park and go on any ride you want. Some rides have really long lines to get on, some have no lines. The ones with no lines remain the most "fun". The ones with lines are boring and not worth the wait because frontier is afraid of making the themepark good.

I like ED because I guess I'm a "dad" and I used to play first encounters as a kid

but theres seriously nothing to do in the game once you hit anaconda

Jesus christ just give me an incentive to fuck with the BGS, with this many planets everyone can have their own solar system and have people fight over that shit. That stuff alone would satisfy my autism.
>>
>>158493762
Damn, nice find.
Do you get a wanted level?

>>
>>158494229
I did that in my vulture but got tired of getting roflstomped occasionally
I don't even know, one second I have full pips to my A grade shields and the next second i'm fucking ded from ten sidewinders ramming me while being bombarded by two anacondas
>>
>>158491750
FAS hardpoints are my biggest issue. I tried running 1 large burst, 1 large pulse and 2 medium PAs (I like the challenge but if I had to be serious I'd go 2 large burst and 2 multicannons) which renders fixed obsolete in my book. The weapon spacing is annoying but that being my biggest complaint aside from wishing it had larger shields which would kick it into the too strong realm of ships, it feels like a more maneuverable FDL.

>>158493762
I grind massacre missions in war/civil war systems. When I started I was at dangerous combat rank and was being thrown missions from 8 ships (1-2 million) to 92 ships (40 million). Just jump between solo/open for half an hour and watch something on jewtube while stacking missions and then CZ hunt. Think my record with combat bond and mission turn in was 110ish million for 2.5 hours work including mission acquisition time.

You can thank someone on reddit for this one.

>Do you get a wanted level?
Not from Kent's Inheritance. There's a Nobel's Inheritance where you will, and it's fortified so there's some time lost going there in my opinion.

The wanted thing doesn't really matter though if you utilize the suicide strat to get home quicker.

>>158494550
Gotta pick your fights especially in that ship. It's made to hold an area compared to a cutter who can run whenever they want. That's why I went to the FAS so I could run when need be and still be like a mix between the FDL and Vulture. Firepower right in between and maneuverability right in between as well.
>>
>>158494908
I love the federal ships look, what's the difference between the assault/drop/gunship?
>>
>>158494170
You're only a dad if you endorse shitty practices regarding the game(s).
>>
>>158495078
Dropship is arguably the worst but might be better now with fighters
Assault ship is bang for your buck the best
Gunship is full dakka mode but wirse against larger ships than assault ship.
>>
>>158494761
Stacking massacre or skimmer missions seems to the best until something else is discovered.

The advantage that skimmers have over massacres is that it really doesn't require any investment in your ship. You could even do it in a sidewinder that just has missile pods on it. Though you're better off buying something with more speed/maneuverability and a couple more hard points for more missiles, like a viper mk3.
>>
>>158495350
I fucking love dakka though
>>
>>158494761
for the FAS and the Funship, two words

FRAG

CANNONS
>>
>>158495445
are skimmer missions doable in a fighter

I might just have a use for my crew

>lock onto skimmer
>tell pilot to attack target
>watch as skimmers die
>>
>>158495078
Dropship is the component king of the three. Best used as a multi use ship with combat capabilities. Least maneuverable of the three.
Gunship is just that, heavy on the weapons and low on component space. Good as a medium sized laser rave ship but a bit lacking on energy. Best as a support ship if you're in a wing. Second in maneuverability of the three.
Assault is right between with component and hardpoint space and for whatever reason, weighs more than an anaconda and can do ramming speed while being a step behind the vulture in turning ability. Imagine a mix between a Vulture and FDL. Takes some time to figure it out but it's strong.

Of the three the assault ship is the strongest in a fight because of its ability to outmaneuver and strong weapons but gunship is a stronger support ship in a wing. Dropship is the pack mule.
>>
>>158495795
Doable sure, if you're a good shot with fixed weapons.

But the damage and aoe of missiles make quick work of skimmers. Not sure if any of the slf's have missiles.

What's the space equivalent of the Winged Hussars, the most superior and brutally overpowered shock cavalry ever seen? With a presence so feared and imposing soldiers would run even before combat.

>What is frog cavalry
>>
>>158496762
the wings were not worn in combat, they were for parades (just like Roman helmet crests)
>>
>>158496831
They did wear them into combat for psychological warfare purposes (making infantry lose morale and more importantly scare enemy horses) because they made sounds and were imposing.
>>
>>158497038
>scare enemy horses
except that would scare their own horses
>>

Umm, everything CIG makes takes an additional month for bugfixing. CIG hardly makes progress, but they make tons of demos in controlled environments.

Essentially, you're fucking stupid.

>Solar panels.
We use them today because we don't have fusion reactors. They're massive and heavy and inefficient, but the only other real alternative in space right now is a fission reactor which is heavier and produces intensely dangerous waste products.

People really need to stop think about spaceflight in current terms. The biggest problem of spaceflight today is getting energy, be it kinetic electrical or chemical, into space, in Star Citizens world that is easy and common, individuals do it on a whim every day.
