Except there still is monster hunting.

Witcher 1s first two acts is just pure awful in terms of quests. The fetch questing just ruined it completely. Throw in the combat system that is completely devoid of any thought or strategic planning (even on the hardest difficulty) and the gameplay is just shit.

Writing is "meh" for the most part, voice acting is laughably bad but it's an old game.

Witcher 2 just surpasses it in most areas that count. Calling Witcher 2 linear when it has possibly the biggest choice out of any RPG I can genuinely think off, a choice so large that you need to complete the game twice to get the full story and I just fail to see your argument.

All of this Witcher 2 discussion brings up a good question.

Who would canon Geralt choose? Iorveth or Roche?

At first I thought Roche would be the clear choice (Iorveth has virtually zero character building with Geralt leading up to the choice and he comes across as some mad lunatic terrorist) but the more I think about it, the more I think Geralt would choose Iorveth because of these reasons:

>Roche is too blind sighted by his loyalty to Temeria. This is evident when he fucks up the entire plan Geralt had set up to catch Letho
>Roche refused to leave Flotsam whereas Iorveth would be leaving immediately. Geralt would likely go with Iorveth to track down Triss/Letho before their trails grew cold (obviously no hindsight is involved).

Now i'm not saying Iorveth > Roche and I do think Elves are all sub human shitters but i'm just saying I think canon Geralt would choose Iorveth.

I still haven't played Witcher 1 or 2

Iorveth and Roche are almost mirrored characters. Both borderline psychos accustomed to physical means of solving the issues at hand.

They only issues in which they truly differ is ideology - extreme case of (?) patriotism in case of Roche, and Scoiaetel viewpoint in Iorveth's.

That being said Iorveth's path in TW2 was simply better.

I don't know how anybody can pick Iorveth over Roche besides a bias for the character himself.

Geralt would undeniably choose Iorveth purely because it's the most neutral and logical path for Geralt. Why would he help Roche further the Temerian cause while his friend is literally in the hands of the kingslayer?

It makes no sense. Not to mention the fact that Iorveths path as a whole fleshes out a lot more of the lore and especially the conflict between Philippa-Radovid.

People are making the mistake of thinking its "Humans vs Elves" when the choice simply isn't about that. It's more "Prioritizing Geralts friends and the kinglsayer or staying loyal to Roche"

Am I insane for thinking this? I just don't get it, Iorveths path makes significantly more sense as far as Lore playthroughs are concerned
