Why is the matchmaking in this game so shit?

As it is you might as well not bother playing at off-peak hours, because the game is so desperate to put you into a game it pairs you with literal potatoes. The queue times are barely noticeably longer than at peak(the estimated times are longer, but the actual times are maybe 25% longer at best), but the games are a lot worse.

While you may think now "well duh what a faggot with such an obvious thing to say", please mind the fact that Tracer has 150 (!) HP and is one-shotted by a helluva lot of things. So learning to survive as Tracer is actually quite complex thing. Know your healthpacks, learn to break los often, learn when to back off (you'll need to back off often), learn the exact distance of blink and never engage without at least one charge, move in weird patterns, use map geometry for cover.
Tip #2
Be annoying little cunt. Don't get too discouraged that you can only burst squishies down to 10 hp before you're forced to back off. While you do that, your team should be able to contest point. Get their attention, teabag dead supports to tilt them into focusing you more, then disengage and focus another target.
Tracer's role is to be annoying little cunt and occasionally teamwipe with zarya wombo-combo

He's loud, has no mobility, and works best on the frontline where he can help his friendlies secure kills and redirect fire to him because he's a high value target as someone who can tear an enemy from superior positioning and one-shot squishies. He can help guard flanks on defence but that doesn't really count as flanking.
