So I was watching the Game Grumps LP for Mega Man X1 and I noticed something...

Similar to Dive Man's stage, in Launch Octopus's stage we have a progression of underwater boss battles. In which the same enemy is fought multiple times, with each successive time giving the player less area to stand on. I believe it is a reference. Meanwhile, those whirlpool-making robots in Launch Octopus's stage are a dead ringer for the whirlpool making devices that Thetis uses in Mega Man ZXA. And, of course, the intro stage for Mega Man X reappears in Mega Man ZX's second stage AND Thetis's stage in Mega Man ZXA.

Finally, Wire Sponge's stage is supposedly the same place as Tower of Verdure in ZXA. And there's the fact the Mega Man X1 and 1 and ONLY X1 and 1 has the mavericks refought progressively, insteady of in choosabl capsules like in the other Mega Man games

I love these sorts of connections. Are there any thematic/level design references in Mega Man X that appear in future or past games?

Area D is a huge callback to Megaman X's Intro stage, so is the same area where you fight Thetis in ZXA.
Aeolus' Floating Ruins is the same place as Area A from the first game.
The Scrapyard in ZXA, where you fight Vulturon, ia the same area where you fight Lurrere in ZX, Area F.

Other than the first one, those are all intra-series callbacks. I'm looking more for subtle references in between series.

For example, I'm not sure if i'm only seeing it because I'm looking deliberately, but Boomer Kuwanger's stage reminds me a heck of a lot of Elec Man's stage, given it's an internal,m mostly vertical stage with lasers and periodic excursions onto the outside of the tower. Meanwhile, Boomerang Kuwanger himself reminds me a lot of Quick Man.

I was wondering if someone could help me figure out a fangame I saw a while back on youtube but can't remember.

The intro started out looking over a park and it panned right over to a bunch of buildings with screens.

Then Wily comes on screen fed up that his plans always go to shit so he set up super bombs on key points in the world to destroy it saying if he can't rule it, it might as well not exist.

The we see Light watching tv with rock and roll saying that Wily's finally lost it and then rock does his whole hero speech.

I remember it being pretty dark and liking the change of pace.

My brother got a copy of Megaman X for Christmas one year. We both fell for it pretty damn hard, and discovered the Ruby Spears cartoon a little while after. Even as a kid I fucking hated the buff, more "realistic" designs of the cartoon.

I always figured it was a cheap way of repeating the MMZ1 surprise twist but with Zero instead, and then they tried to make it work

Omega looks and acts nothing like Zero, and there was no mention of any transfer of Zero, so the story that works for me is that Zero has been tampered with while he was sleeping and Weil used that data to make Omega. X probably saved Zero's soul or elf form or whatever and had someone rebuild Zero into his new body. So Zero is in a sort of new shell while Omega had an upgraded version of his old shell, that looks and acts nothing like Zero.

It's flaky and I still believe that it was a cheap twist. They already had Copy X, and they already had the original X destroyed, so they thought they could do both for Zero in one bad guy.
