Normally, his lp.Dash Straight is -4 on block, and here it's not hard science. However, I couldn't find data about his following Dash Straights whenever he's in V-Trigger. They seem to be pretty safe (I think they are -2), since I can't punish them on block. So that means he can cancel his most unsafe Dash Straight (hp.Dash Straight, which is -7 on block) to make it safe.

Here's an analogy, things like pop and rap the common folk love that shit and eat it up because their peers also love it. The people on top are all sellouts because they don't give a fuck about their music just getting rich and famous.

Similar can be said about the sf5 community, sf5 is objective shit that no one who's played another fighting game enjoys playing yet it's still the most popular. The people up top, the e-celebs are still playing it and pushing it towards the common folk so they can get rich and famous despite not caring about the game at all.

There are obviously better alternatives like Ragna and stuff, but if you don't want to play a standard type character, then stuff like Platinum and Bullet work fine.

I think people have a very one-lined idea of what makes a SF character "cool".

Most of these people (usually newer players or just players coming from different fighting games) forget that Street Fighter is born with all those B-Movies trope parodies and sense of goofiness. That's why most of the fan-favourites aren't even goofy characters: Q, Alex, Akuma, etc. Those designs may still be great (I think Akuma is great), but they don't have much going on. Those are quite bland designs with no personality whatsoever. This is mostly an issue I have with SFIII designs (or at least most of them, there are some exceptions). Rufus is a return to that SF2 kind of physolophy when it comes to design new characters.

So, with this premise you may ask why didn't I choose another "goofy" SFIV newcomer like El Fuerte? While I have another favourite "goofy" newcomer design (and it's Hakan), El Fuerte design lacks of flair. As I said SF2 kind of designs had that funny take on some B-Movie trope, and El Fuerte resembles the mexican kind of wrestler with high mobility over raw strength, but it's also true SF2 designs gave those tropes a twist in them. El Fuerte is just a straight up mexican luchador visually.

Rufus is, on the other hand, pure perfection. It clearly plays the comical trope of the fat guy trying complex fighting techniques (think of Beverly Hills Ninja) and being unexpectedly fast and meticolous despite his appearances. His peculiar pony-tail resembles the one of Duo Lon from KoF and his poses are what basically sells the character. This character is constant movement, his fat round body makes him perfect for giving the idea of a character that never loses movement, and his moveset really keep this idea well. His round little eyes gives the character much more personality whenever he moves, making him so hilarious yet so cool. His outfit is really cool as well.

I like Rufus.
