You can netplay. But, Player matches won't show up, and ranked doesn't show any JP players due to the recent patch screwing things up.
You can play against people with the JP copy in Arcade Lobby just fine. We haven't tried inviting people with HK copies to JP player rooms yet, maybe that works too?

Reminder to make and upload blockstrings so your fellow anons can practice better!
Make your data, 4 routes, one for each slot, save with a filename that says the character (use RG for Ragna for example), and blockstring starter. Use KND if it's a oki on wakeup thing where you have to get hit by the first attack then try to block/escape. Make sure to set it to random before you save!
Then go to Forum, that's the second to last option on the Network Menu. Open it, hit square, you should be brought to a menu. Go to the third option and pick the fourth on the list (Asia). That's the filter we'll look for when looking for uploads.
Press the second to last option in menu after to apply filter.
Hit R2 to go to the training tab. Press Triangle to create, select the second option in that menu. Title is first field (include /blaz/ in it so we can find it, though Asia's pretty dead so it should be easy), comments in second (list things like won't work if barrier/what gaps there are in certain slots and stuff if you want), last field is the data, select that and upload your recording. Press triangle again and select the top option to submit.

For anons who want to download the data, open Forum and filter for Asia like before. Hit R2 to view the training tab. Hit X to open the data and x to save.

There is a limit of one upload per user, so all blockstrings are welcome even if others play your character better!

how the fuck do you beat speed attack? im doing perfect rounds (real perfects, i know you dont take dmg in this mode) with distortion finishes, odc combos, killing them in 3 combos all max dmg/optimal, yet im LOSING time every round, like 10 seconds or so. Anybody else really enjoy watching these? Compared to the nico videos, youtubers have strange strings and routines, drop everything, and are pretty much walking tutorials on how to get bodied. I'm a pretty bad player myself, but it's harder to learn from stuff like Jourdal because there are fewer mistakes and you can assume their fundamentals are solid. In contrast, the american videos look like blue-collar accident prevention training videos.

Her j.D crest setup is annoying to deal with and every decent combo can be ended with it
Bors makes her damage good anywhere, like 3.5k+ with re-Bors and hard knockdown when done right.
Her punish combos are 4k anywhere meterless and Borsless. As in 2C CH 5D Erec ~ ones, not Fatal Counters.
Her normals are really good, fast and long. They're pretty minus but it's a given for its range. You can end blockstrings with Mordred unenhanced, it pushes you back and is only -4.
There's also 5D (gap but safe Bors setup), 6C 6D j236.A (leads into a combo if the projectile hits, if not can't really be punished without DP it seems?). Breunor is effective to shut down zoners and play keep away with until you find an opening, in case you're sitting on Bors.
For mixup, 6A has low invuln and leads to a combo anywhere (2.5k in midscreen, 3k + Bors in corner). 214B enhanced uncharged is like 24 frames and combos easily. 3C has massive range, leads to a good combo on CH with or without Bors, easy to hitconfirm. 2B has a weird hurtbox in my experience, but not bad.
214A has massive damage which is probably fine given how slow it is. You're easily looking at 3.6k anywhere.
Basically she has a lot of options, but her damage is overall low since you won't always have a good starter, or Bors. Matchups where you get tagged by random shit all the time like Litchi's staff will be annoying. Also, crests can't control neutral, if you set up a crest and block something it vanishes. There is character specific stuff, but it's not as bad as I thought; the only terrible things are 5D's crest not hitting in the corner for key combos on crouchers, not being able to 3C 5D 214[B] loop 3 times, and having to end 5B 3C 5D 214[B] loops with 6C max dash 6C 3C earlier than just 3C ~ loops.

You can opt for Gawain (214B) as it's -3 uncharged and plus in any other variation, but it's 27 frames not 24. Basically don't get comfortable because it's easily DP'd on reaction.

The problem with GG story is that it didn't begin like Blazblue with a heavy focus on it, it was standard fighting game story just as a justification for people to fight each other, with Xrd it seemed like they wanted to make it a big feature of the game after BB made a good job with it and so retcons and other dumb shit ensue to try and make something that meant fuck all to the game a meaningful part of it. Revelator was especially guilty of this, where they pulled a ton of shit out of their asses for no reason. Basically everything relating to the backstory of GG turned into "misunderstandings" just to make Ariels the villan. Stuff like the events concerning the japanese that was put in a really strong focus back in the older games is played in ridiculous as fuck ways like making them timebombs for some supernatural plan which can be supressed by ki somehow and it just becomes a mess.

The older games weren't much better mind you. They had CT-type character routes, meaning a fuckton of different endings and all that, so it became a huge mess. It got to the point where they eventually had to retcon a large part of the franchise in preperation for Xrd.

GG had less of a focus on story, but still a ton of story content, meaning that most of it was overlooked. That's why you'll hear legions of people complaining about BBs story being incomprehensible or bad writing, while not hearing a single squeak about GG.

I'm mainly a GG player, but I agree with you. I find that the VN format is generally better for story telling the way Arcsys does it. Going with a short and sweet animated story mode in Xrd and a longer, more text- and narrative-focused story for BB was probably a good decision considering that BB tends to attract more so-called storyfags.

And then there's characters like Chipp and Millia who have more extreme movement options than BB's cast(three jumps, Millia's..everything)

These are the really oppressive characters. They start pressure so far away and safely from everyone else. Most characters take way more risk and effort trying to approach these characters. Why do people claim Kagura is the worst in CF? I just saw a top level game the other day where a guy playing him 2-0'd the uploader (who was Es) with almost 100% HP in both rounds.

Also, I just want to say in Blazblue better buttons is not what makes a lot of characters oppressive. Only Nine comes immediately to mind. A lot of it is pressure, drive, and movement related.

Right, and a Ragna made it to arc revo in a sea of izanamis, carls, izayois, and nines, becuase he got lucky. Not that he has really good neutral buttons a lot of the cast has massive trouble with.

Have you played GG? The reason Chipp dies in a hit is because his movement is retarded, having YRC teleports to go anywhere on screen at any point with no recovery is potent, and why a lot of his gameplay revolves around punishing things with it, on top of having a ghetto divekick that makes him drop to the ground at a record pace he can jump install teleport in blockstrings to give him more options in pressure (three jumps after a mid air teleport? goddamn)

For example, Izayoi and Jin force the Carl, Relius, Litchi, and Izanami player to approach with their zoning, and up close they both have buttons to beat out their attempts to get in...hard.

That's because they're based around their gimmick, almost the entire cast is, but some characters have gimmicks that supplement their overall gameplan rather than be the basis for it, characters like Jin, Izayoi, and Amane. Very good characters who use but don't rely on it. On the opposite end of the spectrum are characters who rely on their gimmicks, like Carl, Relius, Valk, Rache, Arakune etc. These characters are also very good because their gimmick pushes them to such an extreme that if they manage to get a single hit on you the round might be over, they suffer in every aspect other than setting up their gameplan(except Carl really, but he still suffers in neutral v Jin/Izayoi), Valk with no defensive options, Rachel and Arakune with horrid neutral, Relius being middling in most aspects except pressure(not really exception movement or defensive options) etc.

But this design philosophy leaves some characters in the dust like Kagura and Noel, who's gimmicks aren't extreme but they have to rely on anyway, while being really average in other aspects(They used to have damage..used to).

Look that Ragna was carried by the best Jin player in the world . He lost every match he played. Also Carl's movement and positioning are very important its how he starts pressure. Just sitting behind Nirvana is him daring the other player to approach him. Also Litchi does not often lose the neutral to Ragna. What the fuck. Oki characters are very often in BB are often win at neural characters. Relius is all about zoning. He uses ignis to zone to start pressure from far away, Also Izanami movement combined with her retarded change mode is the reason she so retarded. The ribcage is the cherry on top.
