Why is there always so much hate in /shmupg/ and 4chan in general? Why can't you all just talk like normal human beans, without the insults n stuff? Is it because of the anonymity? I just don't get what drives people to post so much bullshit and negativity.

Maybe this imageboard concept isn't for me~

And yes, hurr durr muh feelings.
>>
>>158131364
The globalist kikes are sending in paid shills to break up the shmup community.
>>
>>158131364
It's something that's come up since around 2010, a lot of people from other sites find 4chan and think the point of it is to be as edgy and rude as possible.
>>
>>158131364
Anonymity causes people to feel like they're not responsible for the messages they post. There are also many shmup players who are simply socially inept and too dumb to realize that anything they post will be either cringe-worthy to read or just plain embarrassing.
>>
>>158131364
>Why is there always so much hate in /shmupg/
Because being honest is more important than your silly feelings. I am also a hater and spwaned from a country that gave birth to bantz, Americans will never understand and always be to sensitive to really appreciate it.
>>
>>158124401
Nah that's just chum, he's a pedo that considers touhou characters his actual friends.
>>
>>158131364
That's not just on 4chan the case, it's everywhere on the net where people can't get banned for "hate speech".
And where they can get banned, they are still rude, but just in a way, where it's still socially acceptable to be rude.
>>
>>158133045
Isn't this describing 90% of western shmuppers?
>>
>>158131364
the shmup community and 4chan are both groups with a lot of mental illness

I regularly take months-long breaks between serious practicing. For Deathsmiles, I broke 200m for the first time in 2012. This remained my PB until late 2014, where I got the PB that remained until this year with the Steam release.

Every several months I'll pick it up and play it again to keep my skills from dulling too much, but it's rare that I actually manage to buckle down and improve the PB. It does happen, though. It'd be great if I were a more motivated person.

>>158133852
Isn't it also in the rules that you can't post bait or try to incite flame wars or something? I don't think mods actually enforce any of the rules unless you post naughty images or ponies.

Ironically I'd expect that /b/ has tighter moderation than any other board. I've never been there personally, but I've heard of numerous illegal things that ended up happening there.

Even though I don't like overbearing negativity and certain bantz and all that, I still find myself jaded enough to have to watch myself around places that aren't 4chan. Like, I go on Facebook and see people I actually knew back in high school seriously posting shit that I would immediately dismiss as bait on 4chan. My first reaction would be to reply with "Wow, you cannot be serious right now", but they actually are. It's a weird contrast to 4chan.

Like, like just today, I see posted seriously and unironically, "All white people are racist", posted by a white person. And I just take a step back and think "Wow, is this what normal people are doing nowadays? If this was 4chan, you'd probably be laughed right on outta here", but on the contrary it was garnering likes and shares and comments of support. Like shit, I've heard of SJWs but it's really something else to see people you know in real life doing these things.

>>
>>158143797
desu i think i replied to the wrong person, ahwell fuck it.

Anyone watching pj playing battletoads arcade at that event? Really good run so far, always fancied gittin gud at beat em ups but always failed.
>>
>>158145059
It's cool, but pretty boring compared to shmups.
>>
>>158145276
Actually I really like all the strat and routing that goes into controlling the enemies and their positions, it's pretty interesting desu.
>>
>>158145276
I disagree but fair enough, at least the western beatemup platers there are actually good and well versed in the games.

>>158145527
I agree with this you, they can be legit fascinating.
>>
>>158145527
>>158145617
I'm not saying he is playing bad, but the skill ceiling for shmups is at least 10 times higher. It's no wonder that all the shmup players failed, because shmups are on a different level than platformers.
>>
>>158145807
beatemups are not platformers and it's game dependant, 1ccs in beatemups are actually harder than a lot of shmups but yes scoring pushes the ceiling up but can't you just appreciate something else that's also impressive kraut? for once?
>>
>>158145059
>always fancied gittin gud at beat em ups but always failed.

Same, but I never bothered to even find out the different punches and grabs. Excluding nes double dragon 2, which I've actually finished.
>>
>>158146275
Beatemups, platformers, whatever, it's all the same stuff which I already got good at as a kid. These games are good and fun, but you can't compare them to shmups. There is a reason why Arino from Game Center CX always failed at shmups, because they are much harder than other arcade games. The only arcade games which come close are rhythm games and fighting games.
>>
>>158146656
>because they are much harder than other arcade games.
Or maybe it's because he played them less than the other genres? And still who fucking cares? Does it give you a leet boner to tell everyone that you play super duper hardcore games?
>>
>>158146952
No, it's not because he played them less, it's because shmups have much more complex patterns to memorize. Patterns in beatemups, jumpnruns, or whatever are simple as fuck compared to shmups.

And no, I don't get a boner, I just tell you that you are talking nonsense.
>>
>>158147315
Why don't you just speedrun, anon?
>>
>>158147679
Because I find shmups way more interesting? They are basically the only genre I still truely respect as an adult.
>>
>>158147315
How many beatemups have you 1cced honestly? Because you sound completely clueless.
>>
>>158146656
It isn't the same stuff though beat em ups are significantly harder than platformers and are IMO the most dynamic arcade genre outside of multiplayer games. Far less pattern memorization going on than most shmups for sure
>>
>>158147938
I played them as a kid. Battletoads, Streets of Rage 1-3, Turtles, Shinobi 1-3, Rocket Knight Adventures, Contra, etc. I didn't always clear them, but always came pretty far.
>>
>>158148218
Kraut's a know it all cunt who just decides his assumptions and limited experience qualify as knowledge.

>>158148416
Not single one of those is an arcade game and you didn't even clear a console game and STILL hold such strong opinions? For fuck sake man. Go pick any arcade beatemup and go for the 1cc, you'll see fast how hard they are.
>>
>>158148218
They may be harder than jump n runs, but they are still about memorization. Not that this would make them easy, but the patterns you have to memorize there are pretty simple.
>>
>>158148416
>Shinobi 1-3, Rocket Knight Adventures, Contra
I don't wanna be rude anon, but these aren't beat em ups. Also
>Contra
Straight to my heart, run n guns are the thing ;_;
>>
Question for the stick users here.

Did you switch your stick from a square gate to an octagonal gate? And which stick do you use if you did?
>>
>>158128809
mentally ill is up for debate however you are a chav :)
>>
>>158148596
Not him but Contra is an arcade game and it's not a beat 'em up.
>>
>>158148596
>Not single one of those is an arcade game
Thunder Force IV also wasn't an arcade game, yet it was ten times harder than those games.

I don't have to play arcade beat em ups, because I have eyes in my head. In beat em ups, you have much less maneuverability than in shmups, that's why the patterns in shmups can get way more complex.
>>
>>158148850
Well that must suck for you? A chav has better scores than you, broken 5 mill in guwange yet? :( don't worry mate for your sort there's always touhou!

>>158148906
Aye but we was talking about beatemups but i think the message has got confused as arcade battletoads was on stream which is a beat em up and not so much a platformer like the nes game.
>>
>>158149263
>broken 5 mill in guwange yet?
no, but neither have you :^)
>>
>>158148715
Memorization is involved but the enemies can be real motherfuckers that just refuse to play along with whatever plan you had in mind and do what they want instead, forcing you to think on your feet all the time. It's pretty unique. Try playing Final Fight on very hard some time, may gain a new appreciation for the genre

>let yuri explain to you what it's all about and yes it's a fucking cancer
Holy fuck. Is this real? Are we at ideological war? Have I been thoroughly brainwashed?
>>
>>158149409
The fights still come down to the same patterns. Boring jump kicks in the right moment, stun locking through repeatedly spam light punches, cheesing the enemy by going at it from diagonal, etc
>>
>>158149503
>Have I been thoroughly brainwashed?
Nah. Look where do you are. You're good.
>>
>>158149008
It's not just a question of patterns though, in shmups the relationship between hitbox and bullet is a much more static affair and you don't have to deal with the level of potential random what with multiple a.i's running about the screen. Your eyes can see and with that they create a perception based on assumptions which are never close to knowledge from experience.

>>158149380
What kind of troll is this? I just posted a Gensuke 43 mill clear on farm for arcade and 70 mill for blue version 3 weeks ago.

>>158149503
The leftist ideological has very much been pushed into the american education system, 3rd wave feminism, social justice etcetc are all very much products of it. These people will reject the capitalist system in favor of communism/socialism (which has never worked) because they fall for the propaganda which suggests a utopia of equality in all regards, the reality is and the ideologies intention is to replace the indvidual mind with the collectivist mind and centralise power ala every communist regime ever.
>>
>>158149482
>people get mad at you if you say it
Only the american blacks get mad, because they think they can have a special card when it comes to racism and if anyone disagrees with it, then they see them as their enemy, while in reality africa is the most racist continent on earth.
>>
>>158150018
we've been over this anything done on mame is worthless. your guwange score is 0
>>
>>158150214
Well the west particularly america has actively encouraged a culture of victim hood thus you have various groups in a race to be the biggest victim because they have learnt that it is the fastest way to free shit, this is precisely what is driving feminists, BLM etcetc today. That's why none of there cases or desires make any sense and every time you ask what they want it ALWAYS manifests in lists of demands for more power, money and material goods.
>>
>>158150018
>It's not just a question of patterns though, in shmups the relationship between hitbox and bullet is a much more static affair and you don't have to deal with the level of potential random what with multiple a.i's running about the screen. So you are trying to tell me just because a game had more RnG it would be harder? Go and play your boring randomly generated euroshmups then if you think so.

You use the same kind of logic all these retards use saying shmups would be easy because they are "just" about memorization. RnG says little about the difficulty.
>>
>>158149775
You're not dealing with one enemy for an entire game. Crowd control is the real draw of beat em ups and it's a whole lot more complex than just those simple techniques
>>
>>158150621
So your 2 avenues of bantz repeated for weeks are chav and mame doesn't count? I think you have an imagination barrier my witless chum.

>>158150714
>RnG says little about the difficulty.
Don't you whine about CC for precisely this reason? And of course it says alot about difficulty especially when it can fuck you over. Fire up mame now and play a beatemup otherwise shut your pie hole and stop looking more ignorant than you do already.
>>
Why the fuck would people waste time playing shitty 2d beat them ups when they could play Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden and such instead? They have 100x the depth.
>>
>>158150991
you're the one that asked why your score doesn't count.
>>
>>158150814
These techniques help with the crowd controll though, but anyway... If you gyus find these games so challenging, then fine, whatever...

>>158150991
>Don't you whine about CC for precisely this reason?
No, that wasn't me. And CCWI doesn't even have much Rng (on original at least). It comes down to 95% routing skills, that's all. And it also doesn't need RnG, in contrary. If the game actually had significant RnG, it would be way easier, because the level design wouldn't be as tight anymore. The reason why shmups are so hard, is also because they have very tight level design. With RnG, your level design goes down the shitter.
>>
>>158150991
i have all kinds of different bantz you are just attributing chav and mame doesn't count to me without considering all the other bantz i've contributed to this general

now apologize
>>
>>158151069

>>158151580
RNG makes things harder actually. Devs have to be careful not to put too much of it because the more RNG there is the more luck and the less skill the game requires.
>>
>>158150991
Saying MAME scores don't count isn't a "bantz" it's a fact.

>>
>>158151706
S+SB ranking all of DMC on the highest difficulty is harder than 1ccing most beat them ups. 3d ones have a skill ceiling that dwarfs the 2d ones.
>>
Anyone knows why no daifakkatsu 1.5 Pirate download ?
>>
>>158152049
That "skill ceiling" is performing a bunch of arbitrary moves that even the game's scoring system doesn't properly reward, it's a fucking joke
>>
>>158151853
RnG does not make things harder. Tight level design makes things harder. Of course, if you use RnG in a way where the level design still stays tight, then it makes it harder, but to do this, you have use only very little RnG, which many shmups already have.

If you use too much RnG, the whole level design gets out of controll, which means it's not tight anymore, ie easier. Of course you also could use RnG in a way where the game becomes partly unplayable, but if a dev does this, he clearly has no idea what he is doing.

Why do you even play shmups, if you think rng is so important for difficulty?
Using your logic Steredenn would be the new hardcore shmup, because it has randomly generated levels.

You are just another retard who has no idea what he is talking about.

3d beat them ups simply have more difficulty scaling. You can play them in a very easy low skill way and beat them with no problem, not like 2d beat them ups. However they can also get extremely complex and difficult if you push to the highest level.
>>
>>158152427
Well no shit a game won't become difficult with the addition of RNG if you compensate for it by making other parts of the game easier to balance it. If you don't take steps to make it easier, adding RNG will definitely make things more challenging even if it isn't in a good way
>>
>>158153707
>beating a game efficiently and flawlessly is low level play
>fucking around with harmless enemies while the rank system doesn't know how to adequately grade what you're doing is high level play
Take your shit genre elsewhere, it's worse than memerunning
>>
>>158153874
>thinking you can get through to the kraut

I admire your optimism.
>>
>>158153874
The problem is that you can't add too much RnG though. You can add 2 kind of bullet patterns for enemies which they use randomly, or whatever, then the game becomes harder yes. But if you do significant changes, like making whole enemy formations random, or whole levels random, then the game actually becomes easier. because since evrything is random, and you can't memorize anymore, this means you basically have to be able to clear the game almost blind, in contrary to a shmup with really tight level design which you have to study for hundrets of hours to clear sometimes.

Either this or the game becomes unplayable.
>>
>>158154169
Sounds like you're just shit at the genre and want it to congratulate you with high ranks for your low level play. And you act like DMC is the only game out there. Play something like Ninja Gaiden if you want to get fucked up by the deadliest enemies.

In terms of difficulty Battletoads arcade is comparable to a shmup of 25 points from that japanese STG difficulty list, which is more than a good challenge for most people in this site, not to mention that memerunning it like PJ is a lot more demanding as well.

shmup are still deeper in the long run due to looping and more complex scoring, but beat 'em ups are definitely worth experiencing and will keep you busy many hours.

I think some people just don't train as intensive as others. That's why they played the game since 5 years already and still are mediocre at it. They just play it for fun, every now and then, instead of going full autismo practicing every day.
>>
>>158165205
p-people play games for fun?!

>>158148837
Seimitsu LS-56 is better with octagonal gate than the default square, so that's what I did, but I switched from that to an LS-32 later, which only has square. It just feels better.
>>
>>158165735
Perhaps fun wasn't right word. Casually would fit better. When I practice a shmup, I play it almost every day, study other superplays, and don't stop with the game until I have at least 1cced it. Only then I PERHAPS switch to another game depending on how much I like the current one.

But others probably just play it every second day, or only 3 times a week, not studying replays (and by studying I mean really studying frame for frame, not just watching a replay), switch games inbetween, before they even can 1cc it. If you train like this, it's no wonder you are still mediocre after 5 years playing the game.

>I switched from that to an LS-32 later, which only has square. It just feels better.
Just curious, did your LS-32 come with two gates installed (a light blue gate and a dark blue gate on top of it)? Did you get rid of the dark blue gate or leave it in?
>>
>>158166531
Yes, it had the dark blue gate. I wasn't sure what to do with it at first, but after looking at several Japanese pages detailing the joystick I concluded that the blue gate is normally left screwed on in cabinets and considered part of the appearance, so I left it on.
>>
>>158166510
I remember you differently in the pre-Crimzon Clover days. Something has been at work here; maybe it's the sheer playtime and the harsh unfamiliarity of CCWI coming from other games.

Memory isn't gonna help when an enemy who has a shitton of various attacks decides that this time, he's gonna throw a knife at you, off-screen, before you even get to see him. I'd say shmups are far more about memory.
But whatever, you've already invalidated your opinion by admitting you've never even tried to 1cc an arcade beat 'em up.

A lot of them, if you just go for 1-ALL. I'm serious, pick any you like and you'll clear it eventually. This is why I play shmups desu, they are very easy to "beat". Beat 'em ups have low skill ceiling compared to shmups and other genres, but you are forced to headbutt that ceiling if you want to just 1cc them.

Gus barely cleared even with the extends he got, he showed off all his routes though and normies were highly impressed, also see screencaps posted in this thread. Gus's face was fun to watch as they made sure to centre the camera on it properly. Intense concentration and worry amplified by his deep-set dark eyes and straight eyebrows. No real spergouts.

>>
>>158190793
I think Gus did it so that he wouldn't give normies the idea that it's fine to credit-feed your way through a shmup. It's dishonest to us because we already take for granted that a 1cc is the bare minimum, but you need to think outside of that.

Well no, it's not the hardest Darius. Doesn't mean it isn't hard though.

And beating a Darius game on its easiest route is fine, but it's not equivalent to beating the game. You have to be able to no miss every route if you're gonna judge a game's difficulty.

>>158218032
The earlier ones, sure.
But I maintain that having to mash doesn't make a game more difficult. The little brain-power it takes to just keep tapping a button probably won't impede your ability to dodge shit. I guess the main point is that you can't tap that fast and autofire is basically like playing with maximum possible firepower. It's true, but I mean, later ports of it give you autofire too. It even has autofire in MAME, although I'm not sure if that's the emulator that enables you to do that or if it's just a feature of the last revision of the game.

It's not impossible to mash as fast as autofire, so in theory, if you're gud enough to mash like that you may as well just use autofire.
>>
>>158220183
Mashing the whole time makes you nervous and routing gets much harder.
>>
>>158220183
>It's not impossible to mash as fast as autofire
Can you mash at 30hz consistently? of course not, and even then it's still an extra layer of difficulty added to the game. I have nothing against people who play autofire but pretending that it's just the same as playing without it is retarded, it's both added fire-power and less physically demanding, especially in stuff like Toaplan games
>>
>>158215130
what if i play ancient shit wher you can't have more than few shots on the screen, using autofire can be a disadvantage, since sometimes you'll need single taps or just a slow stream of bullets, not bursts.

>>158220646
W-well maybe. But most games have a limit on how many of your bullets you can have on screen. You don't have to mash at 60hz or whatever to achieve maximum firepower! Also should such physical demand really be a factor when it comes to a game's difficulty?!
>>
>>158222691
seems to me you never really tried to 1cc without autocuck. even in games like UN squadron where you need to only occasionally press the fire button to continue burst, auto-fire is a bliss since it allows you to fully concentrate on dodging and fire non-stop.

Key word being "on screen", point blanking with autofire is OP as fuck in all those games. Besides games with 4 shots on screen like Truxton or other Toaplan stuff are also pretty demanding to mash too and autofire make them easier.

>>158223080
in UN Squadron autofire also increase your firepower drastically, since fire rate is a lot faster (at least as Shin)

Why is it so hard to find information on most shmups?

Kinda new to the genre but I'm loving it. I picked up Deathsmiles, I was a complete shitter but had fun with it. Then tried to look up guides and info so I could start practicing towards a 1cc run and fuck, the game scoring system is filled with hidden info, and finding it is pretty stupid.

Best thing I found was a thread on shmups forums but it was about the MLB version. For vanilla info I had to watch through the stg weekly episode.

Then I tried to find a thread or something about Mushihimesama scoring just for curiosity, and there's none

I know you might as well just learn the mechanics by trial and error on your own, but I think it's pretty weird that actual written out information is so lacking

>>158233490
I think the strategy section of Shmups Forums is your best bet. If you don't find what you're looking for, you could just ask there, and hope someone knowledgeable replies.

There is this concept they have, named "Shooter Treatise" (preffix "ST" in thread name), where an experienced player writes a detailed guide on the game they're knowledegeable about. That sounds like a great idea to me, and I think we would all benefit greatly if we had such strategy guides available.

For instance, there is a stub of a shmup treatise on Crimzon Clover WI Unlimited written by Bananamatic, but he gave up on it early. It is a dream of mine to one day be able to beat his and Jaimers's scores for that mode so that I could hopefully extend Banana's work with meticulous explanation for every part of each stage.

MBL Normal mode has slowdown inaccuracies in certain stages but is still relatively playable and has slowdown in other places. MBL1.1 mode is missing slowdown entirely, and possible regular 1.1 mode as well.

The regular game seems to be fine, at least. The Normal mode works about as well as the Xbox port's Arcade mode, and seems to be more accurate than 360 mode on the (North America) Xbox port.

Back then I played Toaplan games in arcade center without autofire. These games actually balanced in non-autofire term because in some stages it's better to use laser-like shot so you can rest your finger for a while. Hand problem arise when some retards decided to use wide-shot type all day.
Also there are techniques to keep you finger not getting tired from long manual firing. Common use are using two or three fingers. Rapid firing using one finger is the wrong way, but heck even I watched Aquas did that when he's playing Commando.

I never go to the left, just avoid the legs on the bottom right killing the enemies below, when he comes again avoid the legs on the middle right. For recovery you can do the same, however you can also stay on the middle right avoiding the legs since the beginning, but the timing is tricky.

Alright, I did. It looks like 1.1 actually has more slowdown than MBL1.1. Regular 1.1 seems to have slowdown on par with MBL Normal (it exists but feels a bit inconsistent), while MBL1.1 is blatantly faster than either of them.

whoever started this "stick is good" meme should be hanged because there is LITERALLY no redeeming qualities in this dick of satan compared to superior keyboard. you literally can not defend this epitome of bullshit because the purpose of this is to handicap the player into playing worse than he could and when you combine that with the rng bullshit in crimzon clover the outcome is neverending bullshit which you can not defend in any single imaginable way no matter how hard you want to

you can try to deny this by saying that arcades have sticks on purpose and its possible to get good but thats a myth and straight up bullshit because i know from experience that the sticks are there to fuck up the players shit to make money for the kikes running that bullshit in their satans orgy lair. in the end everyone with common sense knows that keyboard is the superior choice when playing rng bullshit ridden absolute fuckup """"""""games""""""""" such as crimzon clover. the dev has even made more bullshit rng shit when you try to use stick on that game and thats undeniable fact

maybe some day the dev realizes his mistake on the rng bullshit system and commits suicide for the crimes agaisnt humanity and god purges the earth of this satans shit which is sticks

Yeah, a lot of people don't like the R2 and L2 "pedals" (I guess?) on the DS3. I think they're fine. Obviously they're pretty shitty though for constant use like for lock-on in CCWI.
They would be perfect for acceleration and deceleration in racing games and flight sims and such. It just makes sense.
But for some reason Gran Turismo and Ace Combat for instance never used them like that, which is a bit weird.

I feel that with the DS2's triggers that sort of thing wouldn't be as intuitive. You could do the same thing really, but it'd feel very different. But maybe it would've been better to stick with that.

I'm not sure which one is better.
The DS2 feels a lot sturdier and has more weight to it. But even so I don't have a single DS2 that isn't fucked-up in some way. ;_;

The DS3 feels very light and comfortable. No cables or connectors that break easily, which is great. There's a lot less resistance on the buttons, sticks and everything, perhaps even to a fault.

I think I'd prefer the DS2 though if it came down to it. It helps that I really love my PS2!
Maybe I should look for a DS2 adapter...

not all, i think this pattern isn't directly aimed at your hitbox and there are others like it later in the game.

I really like Windia!
I only played Casper for a long time because she seemed cute and slightly edgy. But she's also kinda mean!

But Windia is also super-cute, and also cool! She's not as reserved as her portrait makes her seem either; she's actually energetic, at least when she completes a stage!
She deserves to go to space and the best STG series ever!

Sakura is also super-cute!

some people will improve much faster than the others, my point was that ccwi novice is good for total noobs, i spent around 5 hours beating it, but i've beaten a couple of shmups before that, someone completely new will spend more and it will probably feel like an achievement to them. ccwi is one of the cheapest shmups, so they can just move on to another game if arcade is too hard. imo ccwi is a very cool, modern feeling game, kinda like souls games, so they might want to 1cc arcade even despite difficulty.

Seconding this. I know almost nothing about CCWI, bought it on sale. My first credit of Arcade Original took me to the middle of stage 4 considering that I played without a route and mashed lock. Practice mode lets you practice even the TLB. This is a hard game to clear? I would say it is very fair.
>>
>>158302395
The thing is when I fuck up and die, it isn't because I score. It's mostly the parts where I rather play for survival anyway (stage 3 right before boss, stage 4 right before boss, stage 4 boss, etc).

And to be able to clear the game, you have to score, otherwise you don't get enough extends and ypour break metre charges much slower.
>>
>>158302676
The first 3 stages are also fairly easy if you play for survival. Good luck surviving stage 4 and stage 5 without extra lives though!
>>
>>158302783
Well, if I no-miss the first three stages... But admittedly I just have other things to play right now. I admire how CCWI looks though.
>>
>>158303142
>Well, if I no-miss the first three stages
I still often lose up to 4 lives in stage 4 and I already play the game since 300 hours... Not to mention stage 5...

The first stages are rather for scoring, but stage 4 and 5 is where survival becomes really tricky.
>>
>>158302690
>>158302783
i doubt you get more than 1-2 extra extends compared to people who score low, if you hadn't spent so much time restarting stage 1 you would have more time to practice 4 and 5.
there is a guy who cleared the game with type z with 413 and bunch of people with shit scores, you probably get that much in first two stages.
btw i found myself in top 500, i did not expected that.
>>
>>158303296
Scoring is hard man, respect anyway.

So, what do you guys recommend a shitter to play to have nice >fundamentals<

So far from what I tried I really enjoyed Deathsmiles, but it's pretty unique mechanics wise so idk

My only previous experience with shmups was playing some Touhou games in low difficulties, and some random PS2 ones as a kid

If you really enjoy Desusmiles then that's what you should focus on. It's supposed to be one of CAVE's easier clears and probably good for a beginner. Playing Muschi until you can 1cc normal original will teach you fundamentals but is considered to be a harder clear than DS.

It means that Windia is their go-to for whoring out. CAVE's Lightning, CAVE's Lucina, et cetera, whatever and what have you.

>>158297716
Windia's personality confuses me. Her official profiles and art make her look shy and reserved, but the way she is in action makes her seem outgoing and happy-go-lucky.

Casper's kinda mean but still loving. Watch the stay ending with Rosa/Casper co-op and her softer side might show. (Go to clear the game with Rosa, and then push whatever key is Start for player 2 just before Tyrannosatan dies, should automatically set them as Casper. That way you don't have to go through the whole game as both of them.)

Yeah, partially. I look all over.

>>158308602
Get the Deathsmiles 1cc to instill confidence and put something under your belt, then go for Mushihimesama. Mushi is quite a bit harder so it'll be nice to already feel like you accomplished something before you try to take it on.

>>158311569
The higher the level, the more difficult the stage will be. Certain stages drop life-restoring items on certain levels. Higher levels have more enemies and thus more opportunities for bigger scores.

Choosing Level 3 five times will trigger Death Mode and enemies will start firing suicide bullets when you kill them. Not recommended for beginners.

Off the top of my head, I remember Volcano dropping a lifeup item if you play it on Level 3 as your second stage. Graveyard drops a lifeup item if you play it on Level 3 as your fourth stage. And I think that Swamp Wastes will drop either a bomb or a lifeup item if you play it on Level 2 or 3 as your sixth stage.

Port Town will drop two lifeup items if you play it on Death Mode as your fifth stage (Pick Level 3 five times, with Port Town being the fifth), but since that means triggering Death Mode I really wouldn't recommend it for a survival run.

First four stages at Level 3, and the last two at Level 2. This should provide enough scoring opportunities to reach 45m points (and thus grabbing both score extends) while also avoiding Death Mode.

Specifically doing Volcano second, Graveyard fourth, and Swamp Wastes sixth to pick up the lifeup items mentioned in >>158319213 for maximum life restoring opportunities.

As far as I know, Port Town, Forest, and Lake Shore can be played in any order you wish. Just be sure that you have 1000 point items at the end of the first stage so that you can go into Volcano second and use power up mode to get tons of points from the rock spawns.

As far as I can tell, the normal shot and laser attacks are stronger than the lock-on shot. I believe it generally has more use for scoring purposes than offensive power.

Random question, but has anyone played Galshell: Blood Red Skies recently? Heard about it on a podcast and it sounded interesting but I get extreme slowdown on W10. Compatibility mode, setting affinity doesn't work either. Tried on two different W10 PC's with the same result.
Might try installing XP in a VM and see if I get better results. I know it's a poorly coded fangame from like 10 years ago so it doesn't surprise me too much.

I don't have a specific favorite Pokemon. As a kid I liked Charmeleon the best because he was solid and shiny red-colored, unlike Charmander and Charizard who were just orange. But as I grew older I stopped caring about him as much either.

I guess I'll pick Crobat. I've raised enough of them nicknamed Casper, and they're fast as fuh.

Prickly Angler himself is no problem compared to the stage. All you really need is to remember the order his patterns come in and he's ez.

Thanks man, no biggy though the game is always a pleasure and never a chore and i can't really see myself stop with it for a long long time. The thing is with the scoring system i could get all the way to the tlb full chain with 4-6 million more than proms score and still end up with a lower final score if i take to many hits and half the chain as his last boss fight and completion resources are really really good, thus why i'm trying to create a stronger early game featherbed to make up for what i lack in raw dodging skill come the end.
