I think there's an emulator cab at the barcade downtown here, too. I dunno if it has arcade games but I remember stuff like Genesis games being on it. Crimson Clover...I can't figure out the lock-on shot mechanics at all for single target attacks. When I'm 1v1 against a single target boss...and I lock on, I can release immediately which fires my shot...or I can hold it for a second or two until I hear a sound indicating max lock-on.

Ignoring scoring...If I'm simply trying to take down the boss as fast as possible..should I be firing as many quick lockshots as I can..or should I fire fewer "fully powered shots"?

Use quick lockshots like madman. But you need to point-blank it to decrease delay of each lock-shot. On Unlimited mode this is my favorite technique, it gives you adrenaline rush feeling, gotta go fast!

Last year, Mahou Otome ran a Deathsmiles event for Halloween, with new Halloween-themed Deathsmiles cards in the gacha and using a new Follett as an event prize.

This event is going to continue through and end on October 31st, at which point the next event would likely be Nov. 2nd at the earliest, so I guess this is all we get this time, unless they pull out a new gacha.

It depends on the Darius, because the top route in Gaiden is the easily the hardest one in the game.

The top one in G-Darius however is a gud one to 1cc first though. Fire Fossil might be a bitch at first but he's easily doable with practice and looking up replays.

Oh fug. Really? I always went for that one in my Gaiden runs. Only got to the 4th level as of yet. The first two top bosses aren't super-hard though!

I'm having way bigger problems with the stages in G.Darius honestly. I mean, the bosses are tough, but doable. But during the stages I just get flooded with shit sometimes. Dual Horn (?) is pretty awful, but Fire Fossil is okay if I keep a captured ship around for the fire barrage at the start of the battle. The beams that follow you around at an angle are really really shitty too though.
Lightning Coronatus seems pretty simple from the little experience that I have with him!

Thankfully you can fight any boss you want to on PS1, so practising them is easy!

The top route does start very easy yes, but by the fifth stage it starts throwing the nastiest bosses in the game Hungry Gluttons and Crusty Hammer. Then it finishes it off with Great Thing which is no slouch himself, plus his Zone can get pretty difficult at times.

I often find the stages to be the easiest part in G-Darius because you can capture captains which can trivialize a good number of them. Also for Dual Horn I reccomend fighting the red version(top area instead of bottom) because you can kill him way before he does his worst attack unlike the green version.

And yeah, I am fighting the red version of Dual Horn. I found it hard to deal with his first pattern though, when he follows you around with the laser while you have to go in between bullets. Sometimes it seems there's no way through without getting hit, but I doubt the patterns are random like that.
Also, if he hasn't taken enough damage he will just charge into me after the beam battle as I'm still firing my beam and hoping he dies. It's pretty amusing, but itI've gotten good enough that it doesn't happen anymore, I think!

I think what's most annoying about DFK laser wheels is they come out of the bottom of the screen at one point with no warning.

I played it on 360 originally so I got used to using the Right Stick to control the familiar, but obviously this is something you can't do with a stick. Is it still better than pad?

If you're talking about using the Right Stick to control the familiar, I assume you mean 1.1 mode. I don't play that mode on the Steam version unfortunately, so I can't really say. I wouldn't imagine that using an arcade stick would be better than a 360 controller at that point, because in order to move the familiar with an arcade stick, you need to hold another button down.

I would say to use a 360 controller if possible when playing 1.1 or MBL1.1.

I just tried my Hori FS3 and the keybinds didn't work and couldn't even pause to check them once I chose a version to play. I might try again tonight with Mushi and see if the problem lies with DeathSmiles or just the way they port games.

Not that other Anon, but I've played the demo and I can easily see how one might have a problem with the game's visual design.
In the first stage at least the colours are pretty bright and there isn't a huge amount of contrast, the bullets don't really pop out like they do in CCWI for instance where they have crazy colours.

I didn't play all of the stages obviously but I think the demo had the second stage as well and that was fine visually.

I think doing full lock-ons could be a slight DPS loss. A full lock-on doesn't do more damage per shot compared to smaller lock-on attacks, and you have to wait a moment for all your shots to hit before you can queue up more, so after firing a full lock-on for a brief moment you cannot target anything.

It's probably better to do something like 1/4 or 1/2 of a full lock-on for a steadier stream of damage. Mashing the lock-on button like a madman is a guaranteed way to really tire out your hand if you're using a keyboard, so I advise against it most of the time.

Anyway, for taking out the boss quickly, you mostly just want to be close to it, so it takes less time to lock onto the boss. As you know, your main shot also deals more damage up close (and is signified by additional sparks flying out when you hit the target), and in result charges up your energy bar faster.

Eh... I played Maniac some months before so I remembered some of the routing to s4 and s5. For s1-s3 no routing is needed though imo, other than to grab the extend basically. Touhou is literally harder than this.

The auto off WR is just over a billion and contained some big mistakes like losing the counter in the 2nd half of stage 2, so I don't doubt someone could beat it if they actually tried.

It's not *bad*, but I can definitely see where people are coming from with complaints about the controls. Like, I thought Kid Icarus Uprising was amazing, and I never once had a problem with the controls even despite being left-handed (I just used the stylus in my right hand and got used to it quickly enough). Since the most common complaint about KI:U seems to be the controls, I figured I'd be alright with SF0 too.

I was kinda right. I don't particularly mind the controls, but I don't really feel the urge to keep playing the game after going through it once. Especially considering Gyrowing stealth missions and... well, pretty much anything that's not an Arwing mission. I have a few further nitpicks as well, but eh. That might start to sound a little too picky.

The only amiibo effect I can recall offhand is the Falco one giving you a black hard-mode arwing or something. I forget what it does exactly.

I don't mind amiibo bonuses as long as they can be achieved in-game without the amiibos. An example of what I don't like would be the Link's Spinner weapon in Hyrule Warriors that requires the Link amiibo to unlock, or the Fire Emblem games' amiibo bonuses giving you special characters from the amiibo.

You know, having sea-life-styled enemies in a SHMUP makes a lot more sense than you initially might think.
With space basically just being an ocean of planets and stars... a Star Ocean if you will... and space officially being considered international waters, it just makes sense!
There isn't much difference between the abyssal depths of the ocean and space either, so space monsters could easily look like fish!

Now, why certain advanced civilisations (who might not even be human) would model their battleships after sea-life from Earth is the real question...

To get to the screen shown in that pic, click on the tab with Plumeria on it on the news feed. This screen seems to be the only way to access the event quest for some reason, as it won't show up in the usual place on the Quests screen.

There's also a new regular quest tab called Entlea, which you can unlock if your level is higher than 41.
