Yeah, consistency is a problem that everyone has in one way or another. Sometimes it helps to fight through it and other times it's better to take a break if you can, but it's different for everyone.

I'm far from a Mac expert, but I think your best bet against jumpy opponents is to punish landings whether that's on the stage or the ledge. All of his tilts have good usages, so yeah I would definitely try to incorporate them more.

Your gimping options depend on what character you're trying to gimp. Generally you can go for the 2 frame ledge punish with down smash. His aerials are fast and can knock some characters out of their recovery like Cloud but it would always be a risk for you getting gimped too.

new to higher-level smash, have a couple questions
what can i do with AI to practice effectively? when should i wavedash, and how do i decide whether to run or wavedash? should i be trying to use c-stick or A when DJCing?

I remember I asked once "how do I get better at gimping" and someone said "just get out there and try it."

The best options are not always situation independent and depend on your character too. Generally you want a move that either stuffs their recovery if they have a bad one with a quick move or a move that sends them at a bad angle like down and away from the stage all while having enough jumps to make it back yourself.

Little Mac's dash attack is his best tool for catching landings. But you got other things like Side B, pivot f-smashes, rolling and doing a tilt all work well depending on the situation and what you opponent can do.

Extended perfect pivot u-tilts are even better but they are very difficult to do without tons of practice.

Hahaha I didn't mean to footstool you on Mac's stage, I use tap jump so when I went to jump it footstools and then does the jump or recovery.
