You will need an SD card big enough to install games from. It must be able to hold the size of the game you wish to install.
Games get installed to either the internal memory (8gb or 32gb), or do the external HDD you have.

Exploits you run are browser based, all you do is open the browser and visit a webpage.

Okay, so have you created an /a9lh/ folder on the root of your SD card, and correctly loaded the necessary files on there beforehand?
I mean with how many steps you need to follow during this part of the guide, it's understandable if you miss one step by accident.
You also need to make sure you copy the files across from the downloads it tells you to. Do not copy files from a download if it doesn't say to, some downloads have similar files but you want to use specific ones whilst ignoring others.

Has anyone had issues getting Dai Gyakuten Saiban to run? I downloaded it with a .tik in FBI but it gets stuck on the 3DS splash screen when I try and start it.
Is this a region problem or a problem with the cia? I'm on an o3ds 9.2 with a9lh and luma. The only thing I've been able to find on this is that it needs the region override in luma, but that didn't help when I tried it.

Alright so I installed mario maker and deleted the game files. Now the update files are in the Install folder but when I launch the WUP mcguffin and install to memory it just shows me the Wii U loading screen and poofs back to the main menu without installing anything

I was near the end of the whole process (it said to do a system update) but it kept failing. Then I tried restoring my NAND backup before updating like it said but I think I fucked up at that part and replaced the NAND with a duplicate, which in turn wouldn't even let the 3DS turn on.

Many N3DS systems out there will be on 10.7 or earlier, but the most recently manufactured ones will have 11.x installed. The New Galaxy Style N3DS XL, and the Lime Green N3DS XL (with SMW pre-installed) will have 11.x for sure.

10.7 and earlier can be downgraded to 9.2 with little issue, it's 11.x that cannot be downgraded without either a system transfer from a hacked 3DS, or a hard mod.
You can do the latter if you keep your O3DS anyway.

Relax, you can hack the 3DS by keeping it on 10.7 firmware.

If you've only just bought the N3DS and have never used the web browser, you should be able to try the web browser exploit.
But you'll only get one shot at doing this, if you get the "please update your firmware" nag message, you can't circumvent it.

If the browser attempt fails, you can instead use Ocarina of Time 3D, and a Datel Powersaves device to install a hacked gamesave that can launch the Homebrew Launcher.

Either way, once you have successfully launched Homebrew on your 10.7 N3DS, the process will go like this:
>Install Menuhax so you can launch homebrew without using the web browser (ignore if you are using OoT3D)
>Perform a downgrade to 9.2 firmware
>Launch homebrew via web browser whilst on 9.2 and run safe A9LH installer
>You now have A9LH installed. The remainder of the setup is configuring Luma3DS so you have custom firmware, installing FBI so you can install any shit you want, etc.

The servers don't know anything about any keys you might have when you use freeshop.

Normally, when you buy a game, the server gives you a key, and then you downloads the files and uses the key the server gave you to decrypt and install them.

With freeshop/etc, you download the publicly available encrypted files, and then rather than getting the key from Nintendo's servers, you get it from 3ds.titlekeys.com and use that to install.

Nintendo can't tell you have a key.
They can't tell you installed the game.
They can't even tell if you're downloading from a 3DS or not.
All they can see (assuming they even log that shit) is that your IP downloaded the encrypted files, which anyone could do since forever with a little bit of poking at their servers, without even owning a 3DS.

Most loadiine downloads already have them repacked anyway. It's not worth figuring out how to use a new method that's probably going to be deprecated in a couple of weeks anyway for basically no benefit.

Only reason to use huehax now is for online, or just out of curiosity.

I've been playing it fine, but I have the Europe release (simply because I didn't think there existed a USA dump anywhere) and looking at the compatibility list the US version does have issues.

Here's a guide for doing it with Starfox, same basic thing applies to any other game. Just find a folder with thousands of small files, and repack those instead of the sound/stream folder. I don't think you can do it if there's no cpk anywhere though.

Also, you could just get the EU release. Can't use huehax because US doesn't have a disc release, and EU's eshop release isn't the same title ID.
