As far as I'm aware, the PS4 only has a 256 bit bit bus. This 256bit bus is reserved by 8GB RAM.
You cannot add more RAM to this bus. And adding an additional wider bus means you need to rework the entire SoC design, this would be stupid since that's crazy expensive.

So what's going on about this extra RAM?

That's pretty generous estimation I think. It's only been for sale for 2-3 weeks by now. I expected lower numbers than that.

Anyway the PSTV beats the other VR solution for me.
Not only does it cost less, it also functions as a portable TV for my PS3 and my Vita TV.

The whole handheld aspect looks super neat but I honestly will probably never use it so I don't care about that, so if it can be a gimmickless home console I would love that.

An interesting concept that is going to be awful if it isn't perfectly executed, and based on Nintendo's history I highly doubt it will.

Battery life is already rumored to be 3 hours, the system is rumored to be less powerful than the Wii U despite Nintendo saying "its a home console first and foremost" and you can't use the second screen as a second screen. It feels like the gimmick of taking it outside is coming at the cost of everything else, and even that is barely a worthwhile feature if the battery life is shit, which again, based on Nintendo's history is almost certainly going to be the case.

Once again, Nintendo's desire to rely on a gimmick to appeal to the masses will be held back by their awful traditions of not shelling out for powerful hardware, and settling for half baked execution on said gimmicks.

On top of just how ridiculously shitty a company Nintendo are, with their region locking, butchered localizations, amiibos etc. I have no interest in the system unless it somehow manages to break from the traditions Nintendo have been continuing for decades, which is unlikely.

It's because the Touch screen is sealed away while it's docked. So if the game wants to work the same way in both TV mode and portable mode, the game can't feature Touch screen.

So that's the portable aspect being compromised on because they want the docking bullshit.

Every PS4 game is compatible with both pro and regular ps4, they all share same servers, and because of that, Sony doesn't allow developers to bump multiplayer games up to 60 if they're 30 on the standard model.

Doesn't matter what they're connected to, if they have a multiplayer mode, they will not get 60. At best they'll stop dipping below 30. AT BEST.

When games want to switch to VR mode, they send commands to the breakout box, and from there on, it's up to the game to display whatever they want to the headset, and the breakout box will send whatever's shown on the headset to your monitor / tv.

Almost all of the games support just the DS4. Though some of the indie shooting games require either one or two move controllers (Pixel Gear, The Brookhaven Experiment).

The camera is required for the PS4, though interestingly the headset itself can be used as an HMD without the camera (you can hook up other HDMI devices to it).

Yeah, but only upcoming games (though there are some exceptions where some of the current and older games will get a Pro patch). In general, the Pro will be an upgrade even for 1080p displays as games will continue to be developed for the standard PS4 first and then utilize the capabilities of the PS4 Pro (that means supersampling, higher/stable framerates). Though if you have doubts or concerns, I'd wait to see how much games will benefit from the Pro version after its launch.

I'm getting a Pro and I'll be happy if the only notable differences for 1080p are SATA3 and 1GB dedicated OS RAM.

Head tracking is pretty perfect. I have only noticed a slight jitter once and that was probably just the camera physically moving. Nothing noticeable.
I may be the outlier though, as I have seen people talking about how the headset will drift to the left or right after a while.

The Move controllers tracking is good, but it is a jitter-fest. You may be able to over look it if you aren't they bothered, but I know some people who freak the fuck out if it isn't 1:1 at all times.
