Euh, Vanguard is pretty solid class for PvP, SS are obviously needed as healers but you won't kill much. Swordmages and Gunners have some nice stuns and burst, enough for team kill.

As for stats, you want to invest some stats into Con and Spi for Def and M Def. Something like 70 Con is cheap and gives almost 30% reduction.

I'm honest and hardworking, trust me!

As for pvp meta I'm not 100% sure, but I will check this later.

Went and watched a bunch of god mode raid videos and a few PvP videos.

At a glance, it looks like none of the bosses have any meaningful mechanics to deal with and the few mechanics that I saw seemed forgiving in terms of damage intake vs healer output. All of the boss rooms seemed like giant flat circles or squares. Didn't seem like there was anything going on besides maybe dodge the obvious mechanic every 30 seconds that gives you a 3 second leeway to get out of it. To be honest, it felt like I was watching Molten Core videos.

The PvP videos I saw were horrible. Not because of the gameplay but because of the spell effect spam. And the spell effects look to be pointlessly flashy.

I'm a raider and I PvP on the side if the PvP is actually good. The raids look infantile in their difficulty from the few videos I've seen. While that Dragon Abyss raid thing sounds promising, the "takes multiple months to clear" sounds like it's more related to time gating and/or gear checks than actual time spent learning and beating encounters. I did high end raiding in a few other MMOs and to be frank, this looks like all I'd be doing is practicing my DPS rotation on loot pinatas.

Question is: am I getting the wrong first impression? Any hardcore raiders (hardcore as in I did difficult content without being fed video instructions from better guilds, not I play 18 hours a day) from other MMOs that can comment on the raiding side of things?

First fight nothing happens. Second fight there's some big red circle that does damage, damage seems low enough that it's barely worth getting out of. Third fight the guy gets killed by an add but it's unclear if it's because he fucked up by being in the wrong spot or if the tank fucked up by not picking it up or whatever else. Fourth fight you just jump every 30 seconds.

This one is jump every 30 seconds. Has some sort of firewall attack void zone that you need to move out and an attack that has you go to a fixed safe zone within a 1½-2 second time frame but you have almost 5 seconds to get to it.

Most of these are just retard checks anyone with a triple digit IQ and a few hours of gaming experience can handle after seeing it once or twice. What I want to know is if there are any fights with huge personal responsibility checks or mechanics that force you to improvise or some sort of tight DPS check that has you dodging abilities and moving around at the same time.

Pretty much this. I won't lay down a large sum of money any more for Founder's packs and the like due to how that's turned out for me in the past. But if I can get into a bit earlier and mess around on beta while having fun for awhile, then it's worth it to me in the end.

I feel like I'll be hopping from MMO to MMO for a long time from now, but it's really not too bad honestly. I've been able to play so many different games and play with so many different people that it's been worth it to me. It'd be nice to settle down and stick to one game, but finding "the one" is not too likely at the moment nor on the horizon.

Factions are totally different from actual karma PK. You don't know who's going to try to kill you at any time. Also killing people without reason just because of a shitty lore told you is boring as hell. "Revelation has OWPvP" doesn't really sound like much, but once you look at what that entails, it's either about even or surpasses both games on that front. You've got an alliance system, and you're able to declare war on enemy guilds. There's massive castle sieges with crafted war machines, with the castles being profitable for whoever owns them. You've got these big-ass mounts that can carry half a guild into battle.
