A button masher right next to you isn't much different than a button masher located in Korea or Brazil other than input lag. Did you ever see that video of the guy playing Rufus in SFIV losing to some Ryu masher at a big tournament since he didn't understand his playstyle? That aside, can you not adapt for input delay? That's kind of what SFV makes you do in comparison to other games anyway. It's easy to just guess what they're going to do anyway. If that's too hard, though, just set your connection to 5 bars and go into battle lounges with people from the same country as you. The players in lounges tend to be much better. Points mean nothing and games did just find without them for decades.

There is no timing setup into option select in style of SF4.
There is just pressure for most characters, some characters get a meaty projectile, but that's as far as the "setplay" goes.
There is nothing set about Melty pressure, the attacker tries to open up the defender and the defender tries to abuse the gaps the attacker leaves.

No joke, I only play it because it has lots of players. The fighting games I enjoy playing the most at the moment (but aren't necessarily good at) are Virtua Fighter 5 FS, KoF 98, and Nitroplus Blasterz, but it's much harder to find matches for those, and in the case of the former two, it's usually with guys that have been playing for a decade and I got into both around 2013, so I'm fucked competitively. Yes but my point was that most people prefer doing stuff with others compared to doing it alone, in 1v1 all the stress falls on you and there's basically no downtime like there are in most team based MP games.
