That is neat as fuck. One of the worst things about playing as ancient Mesopotamian civs and Persia was that it always followed the muslim style.

I have yet to check Egypt, but I hope they don't get muslim domes in medieval era forward.

Settlers and Builders increase in cost every time you build one, and you're going to need a lot of builders. Other than that, nothing, it seems. You're going to want to build in multiples off 4, to maximize your luxuries.

None. A 2-size outpost city has no drawbacks and can contribute luxuries (amenities now, I guess), and some minor science/culture/faith/whatever.

You have to garrison them with at least one unit if you want to keep it, and if it's not a decent sea unit or two it probably won't be able to keep control of it if other formorians or empires come knocking (especially since they don't give fortification or militia bonuses). Also, you can't reach them until you've unlocked sea travel, which is an issue for some factions.

Playing Cleopatra, turn 200.
Harold is a tard throwing autistic fits. certainly fits the nation, bravo firaxis
Gilgamesh is okay but he gets bored every now and then and just fights whoever. Perfectly respectable.
Teddy is on a different continent to me but seems really nice. Spain as well, I forget their leader's name.
Tsar Peter is a schizophrenic retard.
>>

Kongo is actually strong as fuck, especially if you can grab some relics off the AI. It's unlikely, but if Kongo ever gets another leader, removing Mvemba's no religion thing, they'd be unstoppable.

So I've played for 7 hours now, only complaints are the UI and AI. AI can make a lot of units but they still just do the shuffle dance and sit on your border for 15 turns before DOWing. And then proceed to continue shuffling.

Hope we get some modding news soon, but this is for sure better than CIV 5 vanilla.
>>
>>157987463
I dunno, I look at the UI and worry that too much information is hidden or unclear.
>>

"Cluttered" information doesn't look good on promo materials, so enjoy clicking through gazillion windows each turn just to fetch some basic info.
>>
where the fuck can i see my trade routes why doesn't clicking the trade icon at top do anything
>>
>>157987570
The diplomacy is especially bad. Its hard to know what I have extra of and who I can trade it to. I've just been relying on the AI to ask me instead.
>>
>>157987306
It's alright for a DLC desu. Unlike EU4 and CK2, where they're so out of ideas they're just reworking existing features for DLC content, the Stellaris DLC is just nailing some extras on the side.
It's even a reasonable deal by their standards. Though probably a bit broken compared to vanilla depending on how effective the enclaves are.

>>157987640

Civilization 5 and Beyond Earth is absolutely amazing games, but Civilization 6 - it is completely failure and degradation.

Intro trailer is not bad, main menu is quite cute, but once I started a game...
What?!
Did I bought the complex AAA game for 60$? Seems like there is mistake and I received some casual game with terrible graphics for mobile phones.
But there is no mistake, Civ 6 feels like casual game from smartphones.

Technology tree seems smaller, icons seems cheaper. The graphics is TERRIBLE!
It is not a "style", the resolution of textures so low that you may notice a pixels. It looks exactly like a game for smartphones.
The style is also absolutely casual. For example when you attack something, you will see some kind of "BOOM" sprite like in old cartoons. It looks absolutely silly in Civilization game.

Actually I don't care what new features it have, it cannot compensate the fact that the game feels like casual mobile game. The casual graphics makes this game absolutely unplayable.

I avoided gameplay videos in order to do not spoil the game, but it turned out unnecessary. Just watch any gameplay video in full screen and ask yourself, will you play in this game for 30-100 hours? If no, you better play Civ 5, BE, or another turn based game. Civ 6 is just a money-grab based on popular name.
>>
Is there any point to buying physical copies anymore? Should I just get Civ 6 on steam?
>>
>>157987787

Seems like many people misunderstood me.
I am do not think that the graphics is the most important part of any game.
On the contrary, gameplay is MUCH MORE important than a graphics.

However, it is also important.
Especially(!) while Civilization 5 have absolutely beautiful graphics and Civilization 6 made with much worse graphics. It called degradation. And it is definitely not good.

Besides that, some games more relies on graphics than others. Civilization - one of these games which should have the best graphics as possible.

Elemental districts don't give yields by themselves. In fact the district placement doesn't even matter in that game, it's merely a graphical substitute to building in a city. Settlement spots are pretty sparse, so you don't need to care about one city districts overlapping with another either.
It's only EL which added yields to them and requirements for placement and ONLY then civ6 "borrowed" this idea without improving it a shit.

Stellaris like all paradox GS titles are super easy to abuse, so I like going Divine Mandate for flavour if nothing else. Then going for the advanced version.
My leader deserves to be nothing less than God Emperor.
Granted, the unique mausoleum is absolutely worthless.

You have to go spiritualist for the government type at all either, and they're one of the more unique ones, in that they actually have a reasonable chance of getting PSI stuff which leads to the PSI jump drive which is even better than the jump drive. That's far past the point you've already won the game though. Probably.

To actually answer what you're really asking: Yes they can be quite useful.

Mostly as raw trades of influence for considerable science boosts.

The Grand Fleet is really nice as well.

Some events give you some nice ones as well.

Planetary Edicts are better and more reliable. They're just good, solid bonuses. You have to be somewhat tall to make best use of them though.
The fanatic materialist one is fucking insane. But as you're spiritualist you won't notice.

Districts aren't really complicated but they are a bit distinct from how you managed tiles before.

>>157980554
Somebody already made this and it's pretty useful.
Ignore attractiveness unless you are specifically gunning for a culture victory.

The only thing that changed, and the thing to remember is that the system now makes you think about which tiles you improve, rather than just doing all of them, as everything gets wiped off a tile when you slap a district down.(This does NOT count for chopping down a forest for hammers, that requires a specific builder use FIRST)

>>157995669

Early on minerals are your only real bottleneck, so minerals, energy and science are the only hard numbers you need to crush the game. Everything else is just candy. District placement isn't too important on just prince and shit.
Leading in culture and science? You're probably set for a standard tall win, optimal districts or not.
You're only losing like 10-20-30% efficiency(depending on variables) by placing districts at the worst possible places. And the AI needs more than a 30% boost over the player to fucking touch them.

Just keep pushing though, I fucked up my first city's districts, but it's tall as fuck and I rule the world with my three cities.

I love playing Carthage, they're extremely powerful early game.

The 300 gold for founding a city will help you expand like crazy early game, because it gives you money to support the gold deficit brought by new buildings and units until you get a market/infrastructure in that city.

Also, no isolation from the free lighthouse so you dont have to pay maintenance on roads until you decide to. Less unhappiness pressure which kills early empires. Carthage is definitely one of the top tier Vox Populi civs

Probably. The only reason to before was because missiles fucked up evasion, and evasion was broken. It was also an arms race to abuse them until somebody drew the point-defense card. They weren't actually good beyond that(torpedos were though).
Depends on how easily the AI gets point defense up and how willing they are to slap it on their ships.

i was hoping the new city elements would feel like endless legend, but instead it just feels like a really awkward extension of a tile improvement.

I was really looking forward to this game. Got hyped, watched all the leader videos when they came out. And now I feel like I paid twice what should be the absolute maximum pricetag for it, especially given how rough around the edges it seems right now. Well that's the intention, warmonger penalties don't exist in ancient eras and gradually become more and more important as the eras progress, they designed it so that everyone would be beating each other up early game and then stabbing each other in the backs late game.

I'd have no idea how I'd determine that, and I don't want to play a game where the odds are so severely in my favor. I'd already benefited from an awesome start and an admittedly min-maxed Trait/Ethos/Government build; any more would have been boring.

The AI seems a lot more touchy about military power from what I've seen. If my score is too low, then I'll have surrounding AI declaring war independently. If my score is too high, then joint wars against me happen.

Medics are actually kind of OP, stacking a bunch of them onto a unit basically makes it heal to full every turn.

So, how is this one playing on marathon or slower speeds?

Not *mechanics, mind you. Medics.

I guess the AI really is derped. Which is weird, since I remember that in basic BTS, the AI at least made balanced killstacks...

How to turn Unit Auto Cycle off:
go to Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization VI/User Options.txt
change setting
;Does the selection auto cycle to the next available unit? (0 = no, 1 = yes) AutoUnitCycle 1
to
AutoUnitCycle 0
save the file

why this isn't in the in game menu is beyond me
I assume it's going to be added to it in a patch

What is Auto Cycle?
That's when after completing actions for one unit the game jumps you to the next queued unit and generally fucks up everything and forces an autosave by sending that unit to the tile you wanted to send the unit you had just attempted to select (which is halfway round the world)
having this turned on by default is a headache

figure out what area you want to keep
block off access points with frigates so the AI isn't in your business
spam colonies and build that orbital rocket thing to defend them
it should be enough unless another race has a few destroyers
money is king like that anon said
trade deals bring in good money and make other races like you
try not to piss off more than one race at a time
figure out who you want to like you, i usually keep races on my borders happy

yeah i think i trouble with my midgame. In my first games i tried to hold just a few key systems. Then to invest resources in developing/terraforming most planets in these systems. in my last game, i defeated one neighbour by the time the systems were good enough. Still at this point on fucker had almost three times my pop (even with gaining some from the last war), around a fifth of the galaxy, and atleast three times my military. it wouldnt be so troubling if he just didnt gained access to a wormhole which was next to my most important system...
ill go wide in my next game.

alright I need some basic tips on something i've never understood.

I'm building a city. I'm wondering if building it on top of the resource as the game suggests in the spot marked A will destroy the resource and make it unavailable?

Is it better to build in the spot marked B? what about the rainforest will the city utilize the food on that hex? or will it be lost to me once the city is placed?

up north there's a similar scenario is it best to place the city on spot marked C since it doesn't destroy any of the nearby forests so that they can instead be farmed?
>>
>>158006115
You still get amenities or "happiness", you just lose out on not building a +1 production mine on top of it.

Also you need to lose the mindset of upgrading tiles besides resources. Building districts matters more now and how you place them effects the bonus you get from other tiles. Refer to >>157980554 if you are lost.
